Great adventure
Excellent video, was a Park Ranger here in the early 90's and hiked this trail many times.
These are so good
Very detailed video 👌👍👍
👍
At 0:47 your infographic states that this is a 2-4 HOUR hike... might want to fix that.
yeah lmao
Might not want to encourage people to climb the chimney... people die on that all the time
I did this in shorts, shirt, and flip flops in about 50 minutes at 50 y.o. I would say don't dress warm. This hike is a work out, and you will get hot and sweaty even on a cool / cold day. For me, half way up the top and I went shirtless, as I was sweating up a storm.
Nice video. Hope you got the proper permission to fly your drone in the park though.
Thank you for these. They help me visually gauge the terrain, height, and difficulty.
Thank you for sharing the recording! Added to my watch list 🙂 I am currently searching for your webinar about k9 safety. Could you direct me? I can't find it!
i really like your video it was very perfect .
The microspikes you show at 1:37 don't have any teeth, it is not advised to use those types of microspikes. Ones with 2 cm teeth are far more effective at hiking on hard pack and ice.
What program are you using for your map animations with the dotted red lines?
If you are going to make an informational video pointing out things like "missing the switchback" show a top down on the map then show an actual shot of the hike where the switch back is.
Great informative video. Background muzak is a problem.
thanks for heads up on navigating the ridge. But .. this is a hike for trail runners not boots, unless there is snow!
Some people still prefer boots.
This is incredibly useful. Saving this for future.
Hey, do you know if there's cell service along the trail? So, in case of an emergency, is it possible to even call 911 or would you need a garmin device for that matter?
I always get reception there.
Thank you so much for this comprehensive guide to safety along the HSCT. I've been wanting to do this trail for a long time, but have been curious about the West Lion traverse and reliable water sources along the trail. Well put together video w all the info I have been looking for.
Need multi years of hiking experience to finish this trail and scrambling, I am a solo hiker for over 10 years, never twisted knees or ankles, the more you hiking the less chance you get injured. Just need common sense you can avoid most of hazard may render upon you.
bring bear spray
I encounter black bear a couple of times, they are as lovely as a pet, but don’t trying to pet them.
Just did this hike, but we started from Cheakamus, camping at Helm Creek. Mosquitoes were horrific, views were terrific.
Is there any alternative camping spots prior to magnesia meadows? I read a blog that suggests somewhere before the west lion, but I don't recall this video mentioning anything. I'm planning a 2 night stay on the trail with my second night at Brunswick lake. Any recommendations?
Hi Ront Brown, Thanks for your question regarding the AdventureSmart Trail Specific Safety Series. For alternative camping spots within the provincial park we ask that you consult BC Parks directly and additional methods of route finding or navigational aid resources prior to leaving home as an effective part of the trip planning process. For more from BC Parks directly please go to: bcparks.ca/explore/parkpgs/cypress/ A friendly reminder: "These videos are for general educational and informational purposes only. Great video in a location that keep producing SAR calls. It would be nice to see the hikers using ski /hike poles in difficult sections.
Great guide! The Grouse Grind is a Vancouver only gem.
Great reminders, and excited to enjoy summer adventures the SMART way! Thanks for the awesome cinematic video!
Thanks for the info I will try to do this trail soon
Great video. It'll save lives and make people safer
Do you need to make reservation to use one of the tent pads? Thanks
Tent pads are first come first serve. You need just a back country camping pass for Golden Ears you can get on BC parks website.
Incredible video. I hope anyone who is not a seasoned hiker watches it!
Fantastic video series! Thanks AdventureSmart.
Only panzis get into trouble here
Wow. Excellent job putting together these videos. I'm impressed. And I've hiked most of them in the past - BUT wish I'd seen your videos first.
Went to the viewpoint and decided to stop there! Still incredible.
The video was well done. SAR has been called out to this location many times.
Looks like maybe your duration summary is a little wonky as it shows just 4 hours hiking time.
How long did it take you Lee?
It should be 3-5 days roughly!
These videos are very informative and well done. Thank you and keep them coming!
Starting from West Canyon trail is very old information before they built the new bridge on East Canyon Trail across Gold Creek. Starting at Gold Canyon parking lot and taking East Canyon Trail is much shorter and easier.
I keep seeing ppl suggesting the West Canyon all the time and I thought I was the crazy person. Thanks for letting me know I am not alone. I see no reason to take the West Canyon, unless one really wants to visit that side for the first time, maybe?
How do you get there? After the Park entrance will there be a sign for the Gold Canyon parking lot you're talking about? I don't see it labeled on the map
@@nicholaswronski628 You just drive on the road until the end of it. You cross a bridge over Gold Creek and it is right after that. There are 3 big parking lots joined in a row. The trail up to East Canyon road is from the north east corner of the upper parking lot. Just after you enter that trail, you come to a fork. Stay left. You will get to the road and go left and stay on that to the bridge. You have to be careful that you don't miss the little left turn down to the bridge as it is easy to miss. Especially if you are talking, like I was the first time I went there. There are lots of tracks on AllTrails. Any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.
@@dtocher You are awesome! Hopefully doin this on Wednesday
East Canyon is slightly easier, as you miss the technical part around the Gold Creek lookout, but it is exactly the same distance and elevation gain to the junction. I prefer the West Canyon for the viewpoint. If you have large packs, maybe the East Canyon is better, but it would be very minor.
Great guide!! I love this so people don't have to go attempt a trail going in blind!
I am so glad to see you guys on RUclips. Hope it helps spread good reliable information to the public and reduce SAR's workload a bit. Thanks!
You guys should do Evans Peak. The first rope especially with Ice/Snow up top is super sketchy/risky.
Appreciate the wonderful people at AdventureSmart for compiling these informative videos. Thank you for doing your part to ensure everyone stays safe while enjoying what BC has to offer.
Looks beautiful! Very informative video. Great work team!
This will be helpful for so many people! It will prevent a lot of mishaps. So informative. Well done.
