I think the deluxe without the paper looks so clean, better than the vizbigs imo especially when the next volumes wil be different colours

I'm removing the dust jacket the second I get my hands on one lol, also I don't completely hate the inside but it would've 100% been better as a single black and golden theme like the Berserk ones

Hopefully you enjoy your Berserk journey. Some advice i can give on how to review Berserk is it depends on your comfort level and how deep you wish to discuss the story. You can review berserk as a surface level story and still have a lot of takeaways or if you like really complex characters and plot with a lot of world building then Berserk offers a lot depth. The depth of story comes from plot density, philosophy and character development. Miura wrote Berserk in a way that it can appeal to different readers for different reasons. Pay attention to the art alongside the dialogue, it works perfectly together to inform the story. As for the best way to review Berserk, most people would review the first arc (Black swordsman arc) all in one review, this arc includes all of Berserk deluxe 1, minus the last chapter. Compared to the other four remaining arcs, It's the least dense and the easiest to understand. After that if you wish to make a lot of content then review one volume at a time, there is a lot to be found in each volume. The arcs in Berserk are fairly long, the 2nd arc (Golden Age arc) is almost 100 chapters long, reviewing each arc will allow you to make longer content videos or character analysis. Goodluck

Just finished reading the deluxe versions of berserk and I saw this in Barnes & noble when I walked in and it did catch my attention to buy but I never heard of the manga , is it good is it worth the read ? I need something else to read since I finished berserk lol

Most underwhelming deluxe edition thus far. They really missed with this one. How can they mess up the spines? They went from the coolest looking spines to one of the worst. And why is it half cloth, not full? Weird choices all around. Feels like they didn't really know what to do with it. Too bad.

I cant justify buying these, i also dont like the design choice. The hard color split and texture is not doing it for me. Cover is mediocre compared to other deluxes, as is the spine. The vizbig spines can not be beat.

The art looks amazing in deluxe format, but Viz does such an awful translation. Translated onomatopeia/sounds effects, argh… disrespecting the original work. Berserk Deluxe by Dark Horse still stands as the best deluxe edition, plus the great translation. I was really looking forward getting this edition but I guess I’m gonna stick with the Brazilian editions (standard format but it has very good translation).

I am definitely going to collect them.

If you're a fan of all things samurai, look up Shigurui. There's no north american release yet but there are translated scans out there. It's got the grimdark of Berserk but with samurai's and the art is phenomenal.

We recently got Vagabond in Germany and I prefer our version over this one.

Wanted to start reading vagabond today . I just finished berserk recently, got my hands in both vagabond editions in the store , the hardcover is better for long-term collection, multiple readings without leaving a trace, and is bigger in size, same as berserk deluxe I would say, but the design of the paperback is way cooler, but I’m afraid can get pretty scuffed and crack along the book spine as you read if you don’t take good care. so I got the hardcover.

You have your own opinion, but as for me, this is absolutely gorgeous in person. I wasn’t sure how I’d like the two-toned design, but the print is gorgeous and period accurate. I can’t wait to see what the other ones look like. The preview of Vol 2 is blue with Inshun on the dust cover. This is the sexiest Deluxe Edition of all time IMO. Can’t wait to get them all.

Are they bigger than the vizbigs?

I love box sets but how do i know when new ones are made? Or is there a website that tells what box set is being made and when it comes out?

i think it's good it fits the mood of the manga. It have that classical old Japanese prints style. Better than the viz big imo. But not as good as the singles covers which i wish they just reprinted them.

not a fan of the outside either or half dust cover (they could've done something similar to vizbigs and it would've been better), but I'm such a fan of the series that I had to buy it
