Quick Trip on the Neches River

This was just a quick 1-night trip on the Neches with my youngest son. We paddled about 2 miles down then back up to where we started. Tried out my portable over the coals grill for the first time.

The power of water
Chain saw time! Looks like oak. Hope you have a fireplace.
Yep. Working on it.
Is that Ted Cruz over there with a chain saw? Hell no. He's in Cancun. Vote that bum out. STOP THE STINK VOTE BLUE
The Guadalupe or Angelina would be my top 2 picks out of the list
I’ve been leaning toward the Angelina in a couple weeks provided the river level isn’t too high.
@@texasriverrunners9254 Hard to say given more rain today of several inches in some areas but not sure if in the Angelina watershed.
This one was a nail biter!
Looks like a blast Uncle!
You will have to take that little girl of yours on a trip with me someday.
Grate video!!
Thanks Josiah!
Dog being a little silly
This video was awesome
“No, ‘cause it’s dead.” 😅 That was so cute.
As soon as I took that video I knew it was gold! I laugh every time I watch it. I almost didn't put this together, but that clip kept me motivated to finish it. 🤣
Best part comes at the 1:55 mark! 🤣
Nice Video! New subscriber here. Keep up the good work. 👍🏻.
Great video! Appreciate you making the effort to put this content out to help your fellow River Runners.
Love the cast iron!
I too love the Neches river!
We've been on it a few times haven't we...
This video on cooking goes along with the packing video. ruclips.net/video/o6SrfOuzt9o/видео.html
This video on packing was meant to be watched together with the cooking video. ruclips.net/video/p3z4yTxzeEc/видео.html
Looks good!
Reflector ovens are awesome and easily packed. The Climate Static V is excellent for the $$, and I've used many.... they also make a decent inflatable pillow, but it's not for everyone. I like it.
Good, fun video. As both a backpacker and canoeist, I'm oriented towards light weight; no ice chest, cast iron, etc. I also tend to eat the heaviest foods, first. I love the tuna pouches and spot on about mixing in relish & mayo in the pouch. I use the little fast food packets and add some tarragon or for variety, lemon pepper. Small, light, tasty & easy to pack out your trash.... Just remember, you can tune a guitar but you can't tune-a-fish.... it's just tuna, lol. (you wouldn't say Bass-fish,) BTW, my cardiologist loves your menu....said it paid for his new Porsche. Only negative...canned chili.... I get why, I just don't like it....Carrol Shelby would roll over in his grave....Cheers!

Ha ha!
Great video! Awesome introduction. Great setup on the canoe. New follower here. Crow
Thank you! I have another one on food prep coming soon, then a couple of river trips when it cools down a bit. Thanks for following.
Found ya from your Song of the Paddle posts (that post helped me decide I'm going to go with an Esquif Prospecteur 17) -- can't wait for more content!
Thanks man! That is probably going to be my next canoe as well.
The rocky section on this piece is the location where the steamboat Yellowstone ferried Sam Houston's army across the Brazos. The site of Bernardo Plantation is above the bluff on river left (east bank). Great video!
Neat tips for packing compactly!
Thanks. Getting things together now to do one on food preparation and cooking. We are going to have a lot of fun with it.
Hey Great video it would be super helpful if you had the links to all those products! Keep up the great content!
I have gone back and added a number of links. Let me know if there is something specific that I missed.
I am going to do a couple more on food preparation and canoe hauling and storage.
Next video coming soon on how to prepare for a canoe camping trip. Having a lot of fun on this one. Subscribe so you don’t miss it.
Great trip! Thanks for the video. Keep that blue Wenonah wet. All the best to you and the family, Matt.
Thanks man!!! You inspire me. Can't wait to try some of those beautiful places yall go.
Very cool man
Thanks man! Can't wait to do more of these, but it was 102 yesterday with an overnight low of 82. Camping in this heat is miserable, so we will likely have to wait until September/October. Thanks for subscribing!
Looks like fun! Great job with the video
