I just have to say if it weren't for the offspring, I would've never found out about AFI. I bought the 'Me, Myself, and Irene' soundtrack back in the day and I always had a habit of looking at the booklet to see who was credited, thanked, who produced/mixed etc.... I found AFI was credited for the song. I had no internet because of course it was back in the day. . So I went to Sam Goody and found the All Hallows EP, bought it, and have been an AFI fan ever since Btw, I still love the offspring as well (a LOT). They inspired me to get into guitar.

Just my opinion but offsprings version flat out sucks for production issues. It sounds like they are playing in a tin can. Sounds horrible. Its pathetic when a less popular and a more underground band can sound better than nitro records owner can redo the sound. The label AFI was on at that time

The offspring version was just recorded better. It’s orchestrated and organized better and dexters voice is a lot more palatable.

they are one in the same. the offspring gave them a platform to be known. they are both great. I know about AFI thanks to the offspring. you probably do too.

well, it was pretty smart way to finance AFI. AFI was on Dexters label, Nitro Records, so when the offspring covered AFI, Royalties from the soundtrack (Me, Myself and Irene) went to AFI.

I enjoy both bands, but no... Just no. This version is almost insulting.

okay so the bsides have been (this song especially) my favorite and in the days of limewire etc. i was able to get them on cd etc. Now itunes does't have them, any ideas on how to purchase them???

What the hell are you? This is AFI and that's Davey Havok...he wears makeup sometimes and is very innovative, similar to David Bowie and Freddie Mercury.

They're both good. AFI's is the original, so it's better...but that live one sucked! (AFI seem to be 50/50 on live show quality...sometimes good, sometimes bad.) Also, I know you made a new version nephilim405
