    David is young, perhaps you don't know what a rural area like HauGiang or the rest of rural Vietnam was like 50 yrs ago. In "Apocalypse Now," the village portrayed in the famed scene of US cavalry (with Ride of The Valkyries in the background), was a typical representative. All were dirt roads, no asphalt. Bridges were mostly of the bamboo "monkey bridge" type. People crossed the water with canoes. So, at 8:34, the scene of canals/waterways with concrete revetments, paved roads, and bridges, even piers and recreational area is impressive. Vietnam economy didn't turn around until mid 2000's, and HG is supposed to be a rich province (rice exporter), so it looks like all those infrastructure developments were within the last 5 yrs. At 8:38 the scene of the storefront cafe + clean building with French balconies in the background can be taken as somewhere in a small town of a developed country. 9:03 "Retirement city"?? No Mady, people there aren't retirees, they work very hard, toiling on those beautiful lush rice fields seen in your drone shots. They work hard and are content with their simple, mentally healthy, and holistic way of life that they don't need any artificial rush of adrenaline or excitement of the wild nightlife like Bui Vien street. Like the Iowa or Arkansas or Idaho farmers, they just go home and sleep after a long day of work. 10:06 - 10:21 Tu Sang Bamboo Garden is amazing. It's the best anecdotal evidence that HG is indeed wealthier. The restaurant is unbelievably artistic and avant-garde, showing that people start to have a middle-income taste. I am sure you have seen many other parts of Vietnam that are still rustically unsophisticated. This Tu Sang Bamboo garden owner must have consulted professional architects and interior decorators. Your drone shots are so beautiful and it is an injustice that you cut them short, for example 2:55 - 3:03 for the sake of video length. Don't worry about the video length. Your videos have very dense quality content, perhaps because you try to keep them short for fear of people's attention span. But don't worry about that, with chapter markers, people can skip and watch what one is most interested in. 3:04 the 7-waterways nexus is actually a well-known tourist attraction.

    • @madianddavid
      @madianddavid 20 дней назад

      Hau Giang is indeed a rice producing powerhouse and out of many places we went, it has one of the most stunning rice spectacles, a true representative of what rural Vietnam looks like. Sadly speaking, many of the locals we talked to aren’t fond of their current situations, especially the middle class. There’s so much to it that we couldn’t share in our video as travels are our primary tone. Growing up and spending more than 20 years in this rice-bowl region, I can suggest a revisit to immerse yourself better in the places if a holistic feel is what you’re interested in. I’m not sure if you know but longer videos require months of editing with massive research and tech skills, but RUclips isn’t very supportive of it as these videos usually get bullied and bring the creators long term negative effects. So, we need to keep it short and sweet. Most importantly, we have a specific target audience for our videos whether they want to visit or to know a bit about the places. With how we experience our travels and the just-enough info we reveal about each place, we hope our videos can encourage people to do the same thing when their travel time comes. Granted that everyone’s opinion is different, we love to hear it all so we could tailor our videos to serve the audience better. So, thank you for sharing with us.

    this is the 2nd blog of yours shown up in a side youtube panel. I watch travel stuff only sporadically, but I sub to support you guys, who do very good work and deserve to have more peer viewers. I am surprised that you don't have as many viewers as others with less originality, insightful content, and document-quality composition like yours. In any case, your discovery and visit to the Cham terracotta workshop is quite interesting, and never would I imagine a winery in a hot and dry place like Ninh Thuan. I would think this style of discovery of nooks and crannies and hideaways should get more viewer interest. A last note, Vinh Hy bay is not a hidden gem. 15 years ago, people already talked about tourism development, and today, I believe one of the few Vietnam 6-start resorts is somewhere nearby, Amanoi. Good luck, maybe you can add a bit more slice-of-life drama, a bit more personal feelings, stories (I think most are fake for clicks anyway) and perhaps, you'll get more followers.

    I'm impressed with you two with your research and knowledge. But with one suggestion. Drop the characterization "interracial" in your self-description (eventually). Whether you are a couple or friends whatever, that extraneous characterization - calling attention to your ethnicity difference - contributes nothing to the content and quality your vlogs (very good BTW), although it might attract and gain curious subbers but not in a good way. I laud the renaissance spirit of discovery in your vlogs (rare to find among young people) and encourage you two to continue disseminating scientific thinking and knowledge. Your vlogs with a BBC/PBS or even Nat Geo flavor are refreshing compared to too many "Conde Nast/narcissistic influencer"-type of vlogs. Good luck with your fun adventure.

    Vietnam could be more enjoyable if the people didn’t throw garbage everywhere and the food vendors practiced safety and hygiene. Because of this mindset, Vietnam will remain a third world slum country for generations to come. Rất đáng tiếc văn hóa dân ba xàm bầm dập sanh ra con người sinh sống thiếu ý thức vứt rác bừa bãi, thiếu trật tự lộn xộn ôn ào. Vì vậy có xây nhà cao cửa rộng thành phố xã hội cũng vẫn là ổ chuột.

    Omgosh this is my hometown! A little disappointed the video was so short, and you didn't go to the bat temple! That's what the city used to be known for. Please do a longer visit next time, there's a lot of interesting thing Sóc Trăng is known for! Such as bún mắm (fermented fish sauce noodle) and bánh pia as well! Happy to see your visit in general though.

      Yeah! We skipped that temple as we saw similar things in some of the previous places. The city is awesome and filled with many things to experience. That’s for sure! Too bad long videos aren’t always favoured on RUclips. Thanks for tuning in and reaching out.

    Thanks for your informative videos guys. My 14 son and I are off to Vietnam again for his Australian spring school holidays in September (6th time for me and 4th for him, leaving mum at home to give us a break from her schizophrenia) and looking to see some new places, including Nha Trang, so this one is perfectly timed for us to help sort an itinerary.

      We’re glad you found our videos helpful. Also, we hope she will feel better soon at home while you guys have a wonderful break in Vietnam. It’s best to spend a few days in Nha Trang. The city itself is great and filled with amazing beach vibes.
