Thank you for this video. It's great to see someone who just loves a walk and baked potatoes make great progress without all the "you have to eat these specific macros and go to the gym every day". Consider me inspired!

Good references, as in other art to reference for me is art from Takehiko Inoue. Vagabond art specifically, because he literally put everything he had into it, although it kinda messed him up, but y’know it’s really good. You’re honestly very lacking on hair and the proportions of the head, so I would look at his stuff. (Unrelated but the story Vagabond is really good)
Hey, fair enough. Thanks for the info!
You say you don’t think you have a style but I can clearly see a style in what you’re making and your taste in references.
Thats super nice of you to say! Thank you! I hope I start to see it for myself. Take care, Expell
NAH GONNA RESPECT YOU FOR REPLYING TO MOST COMMENTS.. W guy

Honestly dude, i love your progress here
Thanks man!
looking forward to pt2!!
Now I gotta make it XD merry christmas!
I don't think this mostly conventional diet will work long term. You'll probabky hit a plateau. You should try a keto or carnivore diet. I'll add 1 more point. Greens are problematic because they can cause digestive issues ranging from conspitation to inflamation.
I'll keep this in mind. Thanks Adam. Merry Christmas :D
I like your editing style
Thank you so much. I took the leap to using a new program for editing this one. Means the world to hear you liked it! Merry Christmas!

best of luck in your journey man! Been through it myself and it's a pretty great feeling to look at ourself and be proud
Thank you Kaybirt! Crongrats to you as well. This is something I didn't think I was capable of, and its inspiring to hear from others who have walked the same path as me. I never felt like I was alone when I was spiraling about small things along the way. Happy holidays :D
I am someone who is trying to lose weight after being overweight since 7th grade (I am halfway through my junior year of highschool) after I started birth control and a class of medication that causes a lot of weight gain. This was really motivational and it was very beatutful to see you happy. I hope to be there one day too.
Don't worry, you will be. Everyone has roadblocks, some more and some less than others. But the one thing that pushes everyone is the motivation to be better. That motivation grows with time. When you feel ready to dive in, give it everything you have. If you stumble, keep walking. I promise you will start to enjoy the process once you get moving. Stop by and drop a comment again when you chose to get started. In the meantime, just be patient with yourself and I wish you the best with your medical issues. I'll be rooting for you.
Improvements with exercise are so exciting! great job! Sticking to a diet is really tough so great job on that one too! just be aware that if you lose weight faster than you put it on you're probably going to have a bit of body dysmorphia so continue with caution and kindness to yourself
Thank you! I appreciate the warning. Thankfully I am doing just fine in my new skin, hoping to keep the ball rolling too! Happy Holidays :D
This is super impressive. Now that you are more healthy how is your career going?

your channel is so cool! i love your videos and your progress :) keep it up, you’re amazing
<3 daww, thanks
You are definitely improving overtime, which I applaud. However, I can tell you skipped the fundamentals of drawing. I watched your previous videos on your progress and seeing you jumping right into complex characters for the traditional art, and going into coloring for digital made me apprehensive because that is exactly what I did when I started out. Jumping straight into things without a solid foundation will be more of a hinderance in the long run, since you will develop bad habits and eventually stagnate. If you want to get really good I suggest starting completely over now that you have this baseline experience. Start with the fundamentals and work your way up slowly after you feel like you have confidence in each category. Don’t do the “30 days” thing, it will only serve to rush you and not let you focus. Instead try to do art every other day. Also use reference, even the most seasoned Disney renaissance animators used references. Here are the things I suggest you practice in order. - Basic Shapes (Draw circles) - Shading (Turning flat circles into spheres and having them cast a shadow) - Values (Understanding matte vs glossy. Things that are closer are more saturated. Things that are far away are less saturated. Your subject should always be the focus. Render your art in greyscale, color is not nearly as important as value.) - Shape Constructs (Combine shapes together and render them with shading and values) - 2 Point Perspective & Basic Material Rendering (Draw a basic square object using 2 point perspective and attempt to make it a wooden box with a metal trimming with bolts. Do this on a 50% grey background.) - Character Study (Attempt to draw the subject you want to make. Do this in greyscale. Try to avoid a stylized subject and complex poses. Draw a greyscale human by drawing the bones then add a new layer of flesh above it then the clothing. Do this on a 50% grey background) - Character Design (Draw out a simple reference sheet of your character using everything learned. Make them the cartoony design you want. Add textures to the clothing and hair so they don’t look like they are made of skin. Be sure to draw this on a 50% grey background. Keep the expression and pose simple.) - Add a Color layer (With your greyscale ref sheet you can add a color layer to add baseline colors roughs. I also suggest coloring your lineart with a selection tool or locked pixel option) - Finally add finishing touches (Make glossy sections extra glossy. This is when you actually add in the airbrushed blush effects. Add in anything else you feel will help your drawing pop.) Do this and you should greatly improve, even more than your 30day challenges. If you fail a section or give up, go back one section and try it again. If you don’t want to learn fundamentals then I don’t know if you will have the patience or will to do animation. Good luck on your art journey!
gj, i hope you are still drawing a lot !.
18:31 the position is very good! Good job
Thanks!
Hey, great progress so far! I don't know if you'll take this advice or not but I thought I'd just leave it here, you can draw however you like though: What Pewdiepie and you said was wrong, males aren't "ugly" and females aren't "pretty", diversity in characters bring them to life so do whatever you want! There are plenty of females that aren't considered conventionally attractive but could look like something else, they could just look cool or evil or something. And there are some attractive or pretty males. You may not like this advice, idk, but like you said throughout these videos, your designs are a bit flat. Also, females can be just as muscular as people typically see males as and males just as non muscular as people typically see females as. The reason I say this is you could make way more diverse body types instead of just bland stereotypical ones. Also, I feel like the "muscular" females you drew didn't look muscular, just slightly toned (which is not the female limit, you can have genuinely muscular females and genuinely non muscular males). You could always look for unique body references. Just thought doing more body types would help you be the best artist you could be with dynamic character designs! Humans are so vastly different from each other, showing quirks, flaws, or just diversity in any aspect of your characters will absolutely bring them to life! Can't wait to see how animation goes for you.
All good advice. I think what Pewds and I said about the ugly and pretty thing was sort of comedically hyperbolic. I know that character designs fall on a spectrum and I can draw muscular women or frail men. While learning, I sort of defaulted into drawing them my way because it was easy and I'm the most familiar with the petite female figure and more muscular male. I certainly will explore different body types if/when I am more comfortable with drawing in general. Thanks for the well constructed comment 07
@@leaptriesit Oh cool, sorry I just don't see it often, I'd just love if more artists did that. I think you'll make a great animation btw, I wish you luck!

Good work bro, I'd suggest using more references, practicing drawing guides (like guide lines and bounding boxes,) and Draw-a-box - It's a free website and gives you a quick and rough guide on where to start.
You did amazing! You’re improving faster than me.
Comparison is the thief of joy! Everyone improves at their own rate
i see you draw the hands a little small, i was also drawing themm small untill i heard that they are mostly the same size as the face so when you draw the hand you take it to the face to see if it needs to be bigger or smaller just a tip!
Oh wow, I never knew. Thanks a bunch!
Really enjoying seeing your journey though learning drawing, some lil tips I have to help is don't be afraid to use references, your brain can only absorb so much, is completely fine to use references, everybody does, it's not cheating like some people say. The other would be to train both making 3D shapes and Perspectives, this is useful not only for making enviroments, but also sketching a character and animal, the body of people can be broken in simple shapes, and knowing how to make those shapes three dimensional can really help the body feel more natural. On smaller tips and suggestions I could give would be to try just like with the head, make a line in the middle of the body to have an idea of where things are on perspective, and last but not least see a little more about proportions. I really wish you best of luck in your journey as an artist and can't wait to see your next video of this series.
Fabulous advice, Luka. I appreciate it <3
excited to see your review of forbidden west!
It's in the works!
I love watching other peoples' art journeys. I just started mine a couple weeks ago and watching these kinds of videos really continues to give me motivation to keep going. This video was a great watch, I love your down-to-earth personality!
Aw thanks man! Feel free to stop by in a few months to tell me how your journey is going, I would love to hear :D
Always use references, especially for studying. Your non reference drawings don’t do much for your progress, especially when you’re struggling with basics
Never thought of it that way. You are correct that I learned the most from drawings I did using references. I appreciate the advice niolink
@@leaptriesit Yeah, reference is vital for learning. You are putting appealing information from what you are copying into your brain and transferring it onto paper. A way to test if the knowledge stuck is to draw it from memory/imagination. And then repeat till you can get a perfect copy. Has taken me up to 7 repetitions to learn and troubleshoot some things. I usually do this for tutorial videos, like I watch a linessensei video on how to make hands, and I make sure I can copy the construction of a hand from memory perfectly - no details are left out. This way I have reference always by my side, in my memory. I know that the height of the palm is the same as the middle finger, the width of the pal is the lenght of the pointer finger, the thumb's arc goes to the fingers first joint. The ere is arc for the fingers. There is an arc for the palm and it's a bit curved like a rum bottle. There is more with near the wrist, the knuckles are is thinner. How the palm pads are positioned. Ecs, ecs. I'd say with your anatomy studies you did that to an degree, you studied anatomy and did drawings placing them down onto the characters from memory. One thing that might have been missing was returning to the anatomy reference and checking if you did everything right. For normal art I just copy stuff that looks super pretty, don't really do that concentrated learning process with active recall for them. Just having fun drawing the pretty things I see.
Big progress, dude. What helped me when I started was a site called Drawabox, it's not the most fun but it basically fast tracks you down the right path. Secondly try tracing over real life studies of things so you get the idea of drawing what you actually see not what you see in your head, if that makes sense? I look forward to watching your progress.
this so motivating fr
Hell yeah brother
This is how my drawings use to look like, bros me for real 2:35
Everyone's gotta start somewhere XD
why does bro kinda sound like Dream?
*speedrun music intensifies* i've been found out
Hey you probably already know this by now, but some of the hands were backwards in some of your drawings. A very easy mistake to make. Also, don't give up on the Loomis method. It's hard at first but once you get the hang of it, it becomes really easy to draw good heads at any angle. I'd recommend actually learning it from the man himself though, because honestly a lot of RUclipsr tutorials are subpar and not even really qualified to talk about it.
Ah crap I didn't notice about the hands. Can you pick out one you noticed? Just for my own education. And if i give the Loomis method another try, i'll be sure to find some better resources. Thank you :D
@@leaptriesit Let's see... at 16:24 her palm is upturned, so her thumb should actually be facing outward away from the camera. Also, the guy at 14:30, his thumb and pointer finger should be in the back and the pinky in the front. And at 16:05, since the palm is pointed towards her face, her thumb should be facing outward. I thought there were more but that's pretty much it I think!
@@dilbophagginz Damn, guilty on all counts. Thanks for pointing those out. No wonder I didn't like how any of those turned out. I appreciate your diligance, and I'll keep this in the back of my mind. Have a good one broski
@@leaptriesit No problem, cheers!
Oh my gosh. That Day 30 was such a crazy leap in progress!! You're doing awesome!!
Heh, no pun intended. Thanks Yun :D
I think your biggest flaw is not understanding perspective and how the 3d space works.
Ouch. But facts
@@leaptriesit Im more about being real than saying your art is basically best in the world which i alwys see people do. Hey but keep up the heard work. And taking step back from art for that long is going to ruin alot of your prgress. Even 30min a day in sketchbook will help you keep the edge.
@@insomania-6141 I'm with you, glazing someone for work that still has much room for improvement only invites complacency. Thank you 👊
I have the biggest Issue with doing "just anatomy studies" - I tried so often, always out of places of frustration and not feeling good enough, that nowdays, I can't do it. I can use refs, and I use them very well, but it has to be something I like. I don't know how to just "study hands" or "abs" and its so frustrating.
Yeah, its tough. Glad you seem to have come to terms with using references, I haven't gotten there yet, I still feel like its cheating even though i know it isnt. Much love 👊
keycem makes really good anatomy tutorial vids, i was like this too but i suggest checking him out
he is practicing wrong way you dont have to study drawing like this, you dont have know every part of the muscle every fiber, are you going to draw Body builders everytime where every muscle fiber every part of the muscle should be there? or maybe youre into greek gods style like painting or deep details, if you do then dont read the rest of my comment.this is just for artist that wants to draw anime or semi realistic art :) this frustrates me seeing beginners practice the wrong way (im not saying that im a good one) you need to practice the correct way 1. so on this video @19:08 he said he wants to draw i think Aloy from horizon zero dawn so again why are we studying such deep anatomy muscles and every fiber of the human body all you have to do is check some reference and study her design bcuz thats the main reason you wanted to draw her. if you check aloy's design shes almost covered with her costume. 2. if you draw anime or semi realistic start simple. i can give you 2 great examples of Simple lines, anatomy, shadings, costumes 2 TV shows Invincible and the legend of Vox Machina if you check the character's everything is so simple from lines to shading and especially the costumes bcuz most of the character;s costume is also their anatomy its a great reference for beginners. for vox machina well thats if youre into fantasy theme. start with these 2 shows :) 3. Dont start with curve lines, start with straight lines first, bcuz straight lines helps you with decision like its give an idea when to curve the lines while drawing likes this example @15:30 he draws the hand better bcuz he used straight lines. the Abs, the details will come dont worry just start simple, but if youre really into abs lol,, start with this Character Toji from jujutsu kaisen, you can see how simple it is. but if you really into abs and want it to me more detailed the secret is the shading :) if you see images of toji there are simple ones the the more detailed one which is basically a shaded technique. invincible is a great example of simple abs too XD. 4. flip the canvas! :) start simple :)
@@TpDgreat all great advice. I agree that the kinds of drawings I aspire to draw are not bodybuilders. No joke I look at references and marvel at how simple they are and never could figure out why I can't draw them either. My solution to that was to become better at understanding anatomy, because I figgured it would be easier to draw simple after learning how to draw complex. Granted I havent mastered either of those, that was the thought process. Def have a lot to learn, thanks for the help
I've found drawing hands really fun by just picking super appealing pictures from x and drawing them with the guidelines I learned from linessensei's video. And the cute girl attached to them too. For me I try using guidelines for everything, to ensure myself that I totally could repeat what I just did with just memory. Tho I haven't tried in a long while. So might be a bit of cope there.
Kind of a spoiler for me 16:48
