Big Rhonda Part 2 Overdrive Swap ( Pretty sure I broke it)
Просмотров 1823 года назад
In this video i will show you how to swap the 2WD overdrive section for the 4WD overdrive so you can mount a transfer case to your transmission you already have in your ZJ. Be prepared the transfer case is heavy and it may actually be easier to swap the whole transmission haha. Just wanted to show that it is possible with normal hand tools to do this swap in your driveway and you can convert yo...

Taking the wife four wheeling part 2! Paradise in the WOODS
Thank you, you convinced me to try a pair to start.....my front tires wore out, so I'll move my rear tires up to the front and replace the rears with these. My truck is extremely heavy, doesn't get stuck in snow, and too heavy to hydroplane in rain 😁👍
Thank you for your review these where dirt cheap on Ebay and I was thinking if I should pull the trigger
Glad I could help! I know I haven’t posted a video in a long time but hopefully I will get to making some more in the spring!
Not sure if y'all will see this since it is 3 yrs later. I've got a TJ and im thinking of doing the same thing. How well has this held up ? Thanks.
Still kickin haha. Raptor has held up great and surprisingly has not faded at all. Anything I can help you with give me a shout on instagram @samthejeepguy
@samthejeepguy5245 Thanks man ! I just may do that !
Great content, thank u
I dig it man! Nice job 👊
Appreciate it!
@@samthejeepguy5245 my son just picked up a 91 yj. Let the fun begin 🤣
Appreciate It wired mine just like this works great! Haven’t tested the temp sensor yet tho. I installed a toggle switch
Glad to help!
@@samthejeepguy5245 aye did u put thread tape on the temp sensor?
This video was very helpful I’m getting a set for my 95 yj
GT Komodo itu Gajah Tunggal sam. Indonesia punya
Did the color change when you added the tint to the liner? I’m afraid of doing a commando green and it lighten up once I mix it , yours looks fantastic man.
It stays real close to the tint color. I will say I sprayed a buddies in olive green and it was really light. But after a few days it’s like the color settles in and it gets darker if that makes sense.
Thank you. This video was helpful. These are definitely one of the choices when I look for new tires.
I’m using the same set up on my 2008 dodge ram 1500. One difference for me was I had to cut into one of the heater lines as mechanics suggested I use one of the hoses that has consistent flow. The problem that I’m having right off the bat is, as soon as I turn the key to the on position the fan turns on. From my understanding is the fan should not turn on until it gets up to temperature. Would this be part of the grounding issue that you were talking about?
What rock sliders you have?
I'm kind of surprised you didn't just fix the original rear diff, prob less than $500, that new reman prob cost north of $1500.
Mine are super super loud on the road, have 33x12.5 20 , any suggestions
I have noticed the more wear these get the louder they are. Not a daily driver anymore so I’m not too worried about it. I just got a set of bfg all terrain and I’m very happy with the quietness of them
Thank you, got mine second hand from a tire shop, after seeing your video I realized they are very worn compared to new. Goin go to look into the bf A/T, I daily drive my truck.
I have a 93/95/96 Grand Cherokee Laredo ZJ Thanks will come in handy never change the window regulator in any of my jeeps but I'm confident I can do it now thanks buddy

A hair dryer helps in the removal of the plastic, usually no tears and easy to put back in after the repair. 👍
hey man how did you deal with the pinion being off center and lining up with your drive shaft just picked an 8.8 up and am wondering that
I am actually finally about to do the install haha. But I know it is a little off center but I don’t think it’s off enough to cause any problems. The only issue I may run into is my drive shaft is about a half inch too long right now so I may have to shorten it even more or look into the slip yoke eliminator kit. Hope this helps 👍
To raise 4" with this kit is it necessary to change the driveshaft or some other component?
Rear drive shaft is good no modifications needed for it. This WJ has the front driveshaft with CV joints on both ends. Need to swap in a driveshaft with universal joints due to the angles. It is still working with the original shaft but it won’t last long off road haha
Thank you, I really appreciate your prompt response.
Any brand of axes that you recommend? Thank you
Something else is needed from the 4" zone offroad kit?, because I see that yellow precision chassis box
Everything needed is in the kit. The precision box you seen was a wheel bearing for another vehicle
Nice! I haven't been to the right yet. I have always stopped at the rock wall because I wasn't sure how bad it got. I heard guys at the fly shop saying you need lockers and all that but you definitely don't. My TJ would make it there just fine
Absolutely just be ready for a rough ride haha. Haven’t tried fishing up there yet but I bet there are lots of speckled trout in there!
@@samthejeepguy5245 you got that right. I just got back from there right after I watched your video. Just getting to the rock wall sounded like I was going to rattle my tailgate off. I could have lowered my tire pressure a bit but it's such a short period off road that it's probably not really worth it. I'd like to get some new shocks though so it's not so terrible on roads like that. My parents JKU with a 4 inch teraflex lift and the fox reservoir shocks could have flew down that road no problem
@@tlalexander3 absolutely shocks are the big thing! I’m running the Quadratec 8000s on mine and it made a huge difference over the rough country shocks that came with the kit. I try to lower my pressure if I know I’m gonna be on a lot of rocks since I only have 4 ply sidewalls. Tires are getting a little expensive now hahaha
Those fenders are Chinese and have no business on a Jeep
Thanks for the comparison. I have a 302 swapped ranger I am looking for a new muffler for. Believe i'll go down to the store and buy a thrush welded!
No problem thanks for watching!! 302 swapped ranger has always been my bucket list project hahaha
Hey wondering if anyone in the comments might have any leads on a 2002-2004 WJ Grand Cherokee Limited 4WD not AWD 4.0 L I’m looking for myself since my Laredo was totaled recently I want a new one and I love those particular Jeeps
How did you adjust the track bar?? I’m having issues on mine
Make sure you don’t have it upside down. We did that and had a heck of a time trying to get it to fit. After we spun it the right way it slid right into place. Probably will still need an alignment to center the axle perfect. If you are still having trouble send me a message on Instagram and a pic so I can see what you got. Hope this helps👍
@@samthejeepguy5245 bro mine when it’s at the floor looks straight but once you put on the lifter my whole front end move to driver side is it normal or I’m doing something wrong. 🙄🥴
@@gfautomart sounds like your track bar is still too short. It’s been a minute since this install but if I remember right I spun the adjuster about half way out and everything was centered pretty good. I would check yours to see how far out you have the adjustment and if you are still having trouble have an alignment shop look at it. They know way more about that stuff than I do
@@samthejeepguy5245 thanks 🙏
Can you share with us what type of exhaust you have, sound amazing my friend….
I made a video a while back when I installed it. It’s just a thrush welded muffler and stock tail pipe. Of course the ford v8 makes most of the sound 🤣
nice review. go trump. i saw that rear window decal
How do they do in the rain?
They do great in the rain. The sidewalls are a little thin only 4 ply. So they will walk at higher speeds in a turn. Just got to be careful
Ur suppose to strip the existing paint first..
excellent video, lernt how to before doin' the job on mine tomorrow.. front of glass slides down, looks like that front nut came off hope it's down in the door and I can find it.. .. too bad you're scrappin that one, looks nice from what we can see.. thanks.
It was a snapped nylon slider on the regulator arm so had to replace it but the motor was fine. $56 at O'Reilly's Auto.. kind of pricey. I've done my Merc Grand Marquis for around $30 same type of job. Again, thanks for a good video on how to..
Yeah it's a sad day when the Jeep has to go. At least there are some salvageable parts that you can use on the next CJ, if you eventually decide to buy another one.
Hey what size are the wheels and tires thats exactly what im looking for, not too much poke it was perfect:)
Same
i think he said 32 1/2'' x 11 which i think would be 285/75/16 (32.8 x 11.2) IF those are 16" wheels
Niceeee nice guys. Great stance. 👍
Good to see another video. Keep us posted on the new rear axle/differential. Where did ya'll get the new rear diff? I'm sure i'm not the only one who would like a sneek peek at your dad's project, unless he has a grand unveiling planned. YJ, CJ, WJ, XJ, ZJ, don't matter what style for a project because we all do things different and it give a variety of vehicles to learn from. Hope the new stickers don't make it go too fast, that would be a crazy picture for instagram or titok. I drove right by the shop Sunday in my green YJ on my way to lowes. Hope to see some more posts from your own collection, as budget allows. Have a good one.
I appreciate you checking it out! The rear axle is just a reman from advance auto. Dad's project has made a little progress but he is waiting on a few more things plus warmer weather haha. I finally got a transmission for my grand cherokee and now im looking at getting the same 4 inch kit for mine haha.
Had a blast man, can’t wait to get in the woods and get to work on Big Ronda
Just found this , thanks 👍 I've gota go do my rear left motor now 👏👏
No problem 👍 Glad i could help!!
What Fenders are those?
EAG flat fenders. Got them off of Amazon made a video about them on the channel too
I want those, but I ain't trying to move the radiator when it's 22* outside. New Spring project!
That’s what I am waiting on is warmer temps hahaha
Nice review man! I keep mine on the rear roll cage of the Jeep where the rear gate closes!👌😎👍away from the elements.
Right on! May have to move mine inside to clean up the look a little haha
Beautiful just beautiful….wow
Thank you I appreciate it!!!
You can swap a yj tub onto it which are easier to find. You can also find flat fenders on amazon. I can usually find hoods used for a few hundred dollars on market place. If you get yj tub get the title with it. I wouldnt scrap the project because no title. Its good content for the page.
I have thought about that just really hard to find a good tub around here. Only big difference I have found is on the back where the YJ has a swing away tailgate and the gas fill is on the drivers instead of the passenger oh and I do have the title for the CJ ready to transfer 👍🤘
Good to see another video. Happy Turkey Day Sam. God bless you and the family bud.
Happy thanksgiving to y’all too! God bless 👍
Good to see you back on here and ain't left us hangin. Found your channel about four months back, and hit the subscribed button. I got a 94 YJ and a 78 CJ7 both are mostly stock. Do ya'll got anymore info or videos on your dad's project? I'll try to get you on instagram. I'm about 25-30 minutes east of you. Have a good one.
I appreciate it! I need to get back down to dads and do a walk around. Haven’t been able to make any videos on it but he has the top on and the frame extended. He said maybe this summer it should be ready to roll👍. Holler at me and maybe we can do a trail ride sometime!
I don’t have any Upol metal etch gotta get a few cans for the areas that I need it… I’m over $800 in Raptor liner though. I have 2 gallons ( 8 bottles of black) and 6 bottles of tint navy blue, 3 cans of 2k blue & 3 cans of adhesion promoter… gotta get 3 cans of 2k black for hard to reach areas. I figure 3 cans of 2k for the frame 4 bottles of black inside tub 4 bottles for underside of tub & firewall 6 bottles color for outside of tub plus hood I also have a set of full doors and half doors that’ll need color so probably 2 bottles for that Also have to spray the hardtop.. So mines going to cost a bit more than yours and I’m putting on a couple coats. Good to see it’s holding up well.
Sounds like you got plenty haha. I only used the etch primer on spots I went to the bare metal on and all those spots are looking great! I’ll make sure to make another video after a year
I have run Thrush on all my cars. From turbo, welded, and resonator. I love the fact that they have a subtle sound at idle, but really perform at higher rpms, especially when you are at highway speeds and the chimney effect is in full effect. Great straight through design. Best bang for your buck
So what kinda little pistol is that? Looks kinda like a single stack baby glock.
Little g27. Love that little pistol 👍
Man that thing looks dang good
Thank you I appreciate it 👍
That’s a good lookin jeep ol son
Thank you I appreciate it it’s came a long way from the beginning haha
What is the color of your jeep ?? Is it fan spray rattle can paint ????
Back then it was dark grey rustoleum. Can’t remember the spray type it had but it now has blue raptor liner on it
@@samthejeepguy5245 Thanks. I was thinking of painting mine John Deere light green... Then one afternoon there was a shadow on the primer and I took a pic of it and it looks great, very similar to the grey on yours but may have a little blue in it. I will buy one can and paint the tailgate first to give it a try.
Still have that transmission?
Sold it a while back. I know that they are getting hard to find. Good luck 👍
