@@hillbillyorchids I do too! It smells like earthy cherries to me 😂
@OrchidboyTroy Yea that's sort of how it smells.
Your grow space and your blooms are beautiful.
Hey Lisa! I appreciate that so much!!! Thank you 😁
Всё очень красиво и эстетично! Спасибо за видео. К сожалению, мои растения находятся в тесноте, потому что у меня их много, а места для выращивания не достаточно.

Good morning Troy 🌞.. I totally enjoy watching your videos on the TV!! I can see!! Wow that's a Collection 😁😍
Good Morning Jayne! That’s a genius idea! I’ve used my surround sound but never connected to my TV. I bet that really elevates the RUclips experience. Thank you so much! Have yourself a beautiful Sunday!
@OrchidboyTroy Good evening Troy. Hope you had a Wonderful Sunday. I live in West Michigan, in a not so well insulated trailer. I have a addiction like You!!. When old man winter came I relocated my orchids to the east side of my trailer in the dining room. I keep them on a buffet. With a mirror mounted on the wall 😎 . I'm learning to keep them away from the windows for draft purposes 😕.. however as the sun passes my 3 windows in the front.. it reflects of the mirror 🙌.. they are kicking butt!!. Just wanted to share that thought . I am watching a Ons. Catatante " orange kiss" growing a flower spike!!. I also have a phalaenopsis burgundy color that has been blooming since August 15th . Addiction 😄!! Ty for responding back.
@@Plainjayne1That’s awesome! It’s such a good feeling to master your grow space and see your orchids react positively 💪🏾😁
Nice tour around your growspace 😊 love it! Great advice about the Phalaenopsis manii. It does seem to have some light spotting going on which could mean its virused or deficient in something. But hands down best thing to do is quit struggling with it and get a new one 😂 I too have gotten away from oncidiums. They all basically look alike just different colors. 😂 glad the beneficial mites are working good for you. I may consider them. Especially since they have slowed down now! 😊
Good Morning Miss Paula! Yeah, I have definitely had enough of mannii. You’ve got to give a little more to stay with me. You moved on with your cernua and now you have the best one! So I’m taking notes haha. Yes, Oncidiums are my nemesis. I have four that I really enjoy. The rest can be gone lol I’m making room for Fdk After Done 😍 I need to do a little video on Nature’s Good Guys. They’re so good to me and their product works. It takes a minute to get them going but I see minimal sign of spider mites anymore. Thank goodness! I’m so happy to see you! I’ll be over on your channel a little later today, I somehow got behind on watering 😂😂 You have a blessed Sunday my friend 😁
hi troy, I'm surprised to see you growing your phal mannii amongst your warm growers. I mean it should not be the reason it is struggling - most likely due to the mites but it is a distinctly cool growing orchid imo. I grow it alongside my dendrobium nobiles, my cattleya schilleriana and sedirea japonicas. As you know it is quite tricky figuring out what our orchids need to thrive. Of course there is not a lack of advice online but as you will know people will say cool growing dendrobiums etc need a cool down in winter and you need to reduce watering and you need to withhold fertilizing or they won't flower. None of these tips are really important and are just theories people religiously believe in so although the phalaenopsis mannii grows in the same conditions as my dendrobium nobiles for example, none of my cool growing orchids require the cool down that everyone always says is what is vital in order to succeed with them but I just thought I'd mention it is a cooler growing phalaenopsis. Maybe it does help with flowering as mine does reliably bloom every year but mine is also a very shy leaf grower. 1 leaf per year is all I get and like you say if it happens to get pests and then loses a leaf per year then it will stagnate. It's one of the trickier species compared to a more vigorous hybrid growers as explained by Nicole Deanna for example. But on to the cool down theory. I know I keep mentioning it yet the more popular theories persist, you can grow cooler growers in intermediate conditions all year long. What you cannot do is grow hot growers in cool conditions. They will struggle if you do that. So that is what is important for me to know. But dendrobium nobiles do not require a cool down, they tolerate it. It's the same with pretty much any cooler growing orchid. Same with cymbidiums, the cooler growing cattleyas and so on. As long as they can tolerate a certain temperature in summer, they can tolerate that just fine in winter too. It's not what is vital for them but that is for you to experiment with yourself in future and maybe one day we will figure it all out properly. Nobody really has all the answers even if orchid growers tend to like to believe they do, me included of course lol
Oh my goodness…I aspire to clean up my grow areas to look as clean and beautiful as yours. You have a beautiful collection. You are going to love the Cochleanthes aromatica. They smell amazing and the fragrance will fill the room. I love my Cochleanthes. Many many blooms almost year round.

Hey Troy, I saw the Oncidium Wildcat Golden Red Star in bloom for sale at Wilson's Nursery last week. It's a beautiful orchid. Those Oncidium orchids really grow into large size plants. Your Oncidium is huge. It's going to be beautiful when both those spikes bloom. Are you watering your vandas every day since they are indoors? I'm not sure what to do. I am waterings every other day since their growth has slowed down. One of my vanda is still in bloom. I water that one every day. Have a great weekend!
Good Morning James! Thank you so much 😁 Yes, the Vandas are misted down daily. It helps increase the humidity in my grow space so extra bonus! And then once a week they get soaked in nutrients for 6-8 hours. I’d love to see your Vanda. What variety is it? Have yourself a blessed weekend!!
@@OrchidboyTroy Thanks Troy, that sounds like an easier way to water the vandas. The five vandas I have all from Wilsons (at half off the price out of bloom LOL) are a no ID yellow one, V. Narlin Fragrance, V. Banjong Sky Blue (my one in bloom), V Mararita Louis-Dreyfus No. 520, and V. Renu Delight.
@ Banjong is a great nursery for Vandas! I bet she looks awesome 🌺
Your Miltoniopsis look so healthy. I've tried to go them three times and they each died within a year. My guess is my low humidity kills them. I run my humidifier 24/7 but still can't get the humidity past 35% in my grow room during the winter months. If I try them again, I am going to try and go them in pure sphagnum moss. I'm thinking that would help keep more humidity around the plant. I even tried using humidity trays with no success.
Hey James! Thank you so much! I definitely encourage you to give them another go! That’s the setup I used until my recent switch to leca. It seemed to work really well. I’ve never really had luck with humidity trays either. Have a great day!!!
Love the way your Miltoniopsis look in their setup. Your Phrag mini grande and the Howeara lava burst 😍😍! Those spikes on your Dracula are progressing nicely. I😊

Hi OPT 👑💐 may I please ask you a question ❓ as far as I can see , you use lava rock and little white stones as a growing media for your orchids why ?❓
@@monafries808 Good Morning Mona! So I use the stone with lava rock for extra moisture retention. But I use this type of media so that it’s not breaking down and I have the ability to have full control over my nutrients as a result. I hope this helped 😁
@OrchidboyTroy Thank you 🌱✅

I bought one of these last year and it's put on a new growth, but I have not been able to get it to bloom again. I just put it under a grow light, but it was in a west facing window which I thought was sufficient light. Yours is beautiful!
@@JamesBrown-i2e Hey James! Happy Thanksgiving! I have only had her under lights and she seems to love it. But I agree, I feel like a west facing window would have been great lighting. Especially in our area. We never know with orchids 😂 Thank you so much I really appreciate it 😁

I wasn’t expecting such a large Zygo but man it’s nice. Fingers crossed for the massies and dracs! I have no idea how I haven’t but I’m not complaining
J'adore 😍
Un poquito late watching this. I saw the notification come through last night, my time, but had to keep my phone battery charged for eventualities. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing your newbies this morning during my 'rest shift' as the clean up crew with a hot coffee! Masdevallias is something I was eyeing up back in the day when I was building my collection, but I figured that they would be tough to grow considering the heat. So, I am looking forward to seeing your's grow, and will grow vicariously through you! Congrats on your new babies!! Have a wonderful day, amigo! ❤
Always better late than never! I’m so happy you were able to watch it though. I have been wondering if you’d have power or not by the weekend. And well here we are! 😁 I hope the rest of your weekend is amazing!!! 😊

I live near Hausermann's and I go to the greenhouses often. I love it there and my healthiest plants have always been from there. I hope yours do well!
@@kvkosmosk3891 That’s so cool! I have never been in person but I discovered them pretty early in my online orchid adventures and they quickly became one of my favorites. Thank you so much! Have a great weekend
Hey Troy, I have been ordering from Hausermann for years. I have been satisfied with most of my purchases. I live in Frankfort, KY which is about six hours drive to their greenhouse. Less time in the box and on the road. Sadly, the Masdevallias and Draculas that have purchased from them died on me. I grow all my orchids indoors and tried to keep those Masdevallias & Draculas cool over the summer and only used distilled water. However, they just did not make it over the summer. That Zygo is fantastic! I enjoy watching your videos.
@@JamesBrown-i2e Hey James! I appreciate that 😁 It’s awesome to have a grower also in the heart of the Bluegrass here on my channel! I don’t know how I’ve managed them this far but I’m very grateful for the experience even if it does go south in the future. Thanks for watching and for your comment!
@@OrchidboyTroy If you are ever in Frankfort you have to go visit Wilson's Nursery! OMG, they have a great selection of orchids. About half of my orchids, I purchased from them.
@ I’m more familiar with Wilson’s than I should be 😂 Its not a far drive for me. I am more partial to Michler’s however and they are much closer to me.
Very nice haul, they all look so healthy and strong.
@@wandashaw3551 Thank you! 😁
A very tasteful haul. Beautiful masdevallias and that zygo 😍. I live in Maine and you’d think I could grow masdevallias no prob.. nope. Didn’t wanna give up trying to grow them so I got one at a show, well, it’s, umm, alive. Would appreciate any tips or tricks you have
@@marklevesque1345 Thank you! I was caught off guard by the size of the Zygo 😂 I just assumed it was a smaller plant in bloom. As far as my Massies, I grow them with similar culture as Miltoniopsis. I just keep them a little dryer. Humidity doesn’t really drop too much below 70 for most of the year in that immediate area. Night time temperatures around 60-62F and this time of year my day time temperature isn’t really going above 73-74F. I would classify my light as medium in that area of my space. Also, if you’re able to keep them in a windowsill over the winter I bet the cooler temperatures near the glass would help. Hopefully you’re able to find something in all of my rambling! Thank you so much for your comment 😁 Happy growing and best of luck 🤞🏾
Nice haul! I'm so Jelly you can grow Masdevallia. 😂 I never had luck with Hauserman. I got expensive rootless rescues! Ugh 3 times, I'm done. They claim it's better if you go pick out your own. I have had folks go and pick me out plants and they were much better. I think they ship out the worst ones first. 😂
I put mine next the miltoniopsis and they seem to like it. But now that I’m expanding them a little bit we will see if all varieties will like grow space. My order last fall I had to root all of them but this haul seems to all be rooted in 🙌🏾
@OrchidboyTroy Nice! I tried growing with my miltoniopsis. Not good! 😂 never worked. But I may not have had ones that were some what warm tolerant. 😂
I got mealies twice from hausermans. Doenst stop me from ordering from them tho, I just order smaller batches so I can isolate/treat and be sure they have no pests
It so irresistible! They have great prices and offer a large selection!
Omg!!!! I haven’t seen anyone else have a tetragonum ❤❤❤❤❤ mine is still young and still has a couple years to go until it’s blooming size so I’m so happy to see you have one ☺️😍👍
It’s mine understanding that they’re not that common. Ninja Orchids has the tipo form and I saw it and had to have it. But then I found out there’s an album form 😍🙈
