Good start and got a quick avj, the ending was a bit slow and I had to get cover from av, but getting the ending done at all without getting fully blocked is pretty rare, so I'm fine with that time anyway.

The avj strategy was discovered during the 2024 bingo event by 4shock, and I got 17.91 for the bingo. However because of the competition we were hoarding this strat until the last day of it, and I had very limited time to execute avj during the bingo itself, so now that the event is over I wanted to come back to it and get a cleaner run. Pretty awkward run, I'm not really sure what's the best approach to the starting room and what's the best approach to maximize both splash and infighting in the cave fight. Pretty slow start in this run, but a decent cave section, I was aiming at any 1:4x, so happy with that for now. Pretty sure this can easily go lower at least another 10 seconds. Also pro tip to whoever is going to beat this:...

Roasterock discovered that left is faster so I threw some attempts into it. 15 is doable with fast pinky section and better movement in the end but it's not really fun to grind. UV-Speed is quite fun in this map though.

Love this map. I did a 15 second pacifist run back in 2022 using a safe route via outside "secret". Direct route is faster though, it just seemed too rng at the time. But I found some "consistent" approaches now and it's not too bad. I got 14 almost immediately with a new route, but 11 took around 800 attempts. If you haven't played this map, go play it, it's amazingly fun.

4shock and confused were baiting Orii into getting 8 seconds in e1m1 nomo and I got baited, too. Aside from the quickstart part it's actually a very fun movement run, and it was interesting to learn the lines and to see how much time good lines save in this map. Zombiemen feel like they have a mancubus-sized hitbox in this run xd. A lot of room to improve this still, the ending can be done much smoother, but the geometry is awkward there.

Actually very fun pacifist to run, movement feels smooth, the turns align naturally. It is definitely possible to get past imps, grab the key and get back without getting blocked at all and that can result in 11.

Extremely poorly executed, but extremely lucky attempt lol. Far cyber almost immediately cleared the imps that almost never happens, because he always teleports to this side very late. This map can be improved a lot, but it's a pure rng grind.

1495 attempts. The run essentially consists of 5 sections: 1. Getting past the pinkies. If they wake up on the same frame and run along each other you can get past them on the left with a decent chance, if not, it's just rng, but sometimes if you are lucky you can run past them on the right side which is slightly faster. Cool chart at the end. And thanks for playing the whole Sepia, concepts in these maps are exactly what I'm looking for in Doom maps.
Thanks! I will slow down with sepia maxes after map 20, because they get more difficult and start to require significantly more time to practice, but I plan to get them all eventually.
Oh interesting. I never bothered to try alternative routes, was mostly just a proof of concept. It's also fun? doing the jump across the mines with my route.
with this route the time to get to the central switch right after the third pillar switch seems to be minimal, but yeah, unsure
Seeing these side by side is super interesting, some of it makes a bit more sense than when I was watching them separately. I guess maps 5-6 abuse BFG safety window to not keep shooting? Cool way of using that. :D
Yeah the safety thing consumed firing inputs. And the same thing worked against me in map 04. The reason that demo uses plasma and not RL is because RL won't fire since your ts06 max never lets go of fire key.
One of the best Sepia maps. Nice run. Are you going to do the innocent route too?
I was planning to tablefill innocent route if it haven't been done by the time I get to max, but djnr already did it. So I'll settle with the guilty route. Also, what about you, are you planning to continue with sepia e3 and e4?
@@ravenlikeadesk yeah, i want to go back to it at some point. i'm still no better at platforming, and starduster's video of brondle's map is ominous.
@@ryiron bondle's map is probably best enjoyed on hmp, but I can only tell from watching other people play, because my pc simply can't run it at more than 3fps as soon as I start the first fight lol. The rest of e3 doesn't seem too bad though with good routing, main roadblocks probably being the secret fight in map 16 and the episode closer map. Would definitely love to see you do e3 and e4.

Map02 of this set is free index, I'm so bad at DOOM I spent an extra 10 seconds killing lost souls at the end before realizing all the counted monsters were dead. As this was after a number of tries I don't want to mention and only 2 completions, the 2nd being +4 seconds I called it a day. I may be calling it a week before I get through map04.🐌
If this had another necessary trigger opposite then I think it’d be really fun to run.
