Reb Beach-Dokken Solos (Live)
Reb from his brief stint with Dokken during a live concert in Anaheim, Ca. 11/4/99. I personally like his versions of the original solos, as he adds his own style to them instead of trying to recreate them note for note. If there are any Reb fans that haven't heard these, I think you're in for a real treat.
After many views and comments, with generally positive feedback (thanks!), I feel some perspective is needed here. There seems to be a "war" between who the better player is, Lynch or Reb. It really is a matter of opinion, but some facts need to be stated. Let's start with the originator of these solos, Lynch. Why is it that he's so revered in some circles? It’s hard to believe going back to the days of mtv when winger first came out with Madeline and seventeen watching reb just killing it back then during the hairband pretty boy days and watching him grow as a guitarist over the years….he can play anything and look like a genius and looks so effortless. All the great compliments people have written here is just a testament to how amazing he is as a guitarist and maybe he’s underrated by the critics but he’s definitely not underrated by the true fans of Reb!!!! 😊😊😊😊😊
Read Beach blows George Lynch away!!!!👍
Doug is the Chamäleon under the top guitarists! He was hired from the best Frontmen of rock history! For me the man🤘🏼
The kid is JUST A BEAST !
I mean. Reb eats Lynch's lunch He is simply better in every way. Its not like you cant compare. George is better though. Reb is like Ritchie Kotzen - two of the best guitarists on earth you will never know. But it's about the songs isnt it?
Reb Beach is a divine Guitarplayer!
It's similar to when Vivian Campbell was back playing those solos from the first few Dio albums in recent years after towing the line in Def Lep, but at the same different in that Campbell wrote those Dio solos. Still though, as @chefgaryklein7551 put it below: "he does justice to the Lynch solos with his own style, it’s killer...". Like a wild animal out of the cage and unleashed upon the audience, he shreds. I come back here (or he algorithm brings me back) every few months once my face has healed; my face just melted off again. Okay, I'm all out of guitar shredder cliches...see you in a few months.
Ywp all i have to say
Reb Beach is an awesome guitarist, and he is so humble! I would love to get some guitar lessons from the guy! 🤘
If you are gonna replace George, Reb is the one.
3:28 - 6:06 is so awesome !!!
I think I was at this show, the Sun Theater in Anaheim.
Damn! I don’t think I’ve ever heard Dokken sound so good, Reb is Smokin! Don was sounding the best live I’ve heard. IMO!
Now do Mr. Scary lol
I LOVED Dokken with Reb Beach as the guitarist. I saw Reb in Dokken twice and his playing was FIRE. The "Erase the Slate" album would have sold millions if it had been released in the 80's. Reb is one of the true originals in the rock guitar world. He sounds like no one else and no one else sounds like him! If you haven't heard the "Erase the Slate" album, you owe it to yourself to hear it. Reb is astonishing on the album. Muy buen Guitarrista Reb bech, y todos los que están siempre con el maestro Don Dokken 😊😊😊😊
Reb IS a much more competent live guitarist! On point. No slopp!
Goddamn
There are a lot of talented guitar players out there, but Beach is "special". Everything he plays is clean and precise. I've never heard him hit a bad note before.
Your right Reb smokes Lynch
Reb Beach > George Lynch.
holy crap !!! he sounds Great!!!!!! george who lol
My God Reb Beach is a savage , what skills a dying art! Reb Beach thank you 🙏
I like him. Style is different, but he sticks to the script. 🤙
I love george but reb here is just f***** amaising
I used to think Reb was overrated but now I realize he's not only a very talented player, but live he's more consistent and more technical than George. Maybe that's because George doesn't have any formal training? Could be, because my lack of much training leads to inconsistent lead playing too.
Reb is awesome and tremolo playing out of this world ❤😢😅😊
He's incredible 👏👏👏👏👏
Hired gun
Am I the only who doesn’t like this? His tone sounds like a dying cat too.
Tone: F
Anybody notice Rik Mayall on vocals?
Mr Scary has always been my #1 but yeah Reb rocks definitely. Up there with the best of em
One of the most underrated guitarists.... Reb Rocks
Reb is the best Lynch replacement they ever had. Lynch is my favorite guitar player, but live I prefer Reb as he kicks serious ass and he’s keeping the backbone of all the solo, thing that George only seldom does.
George is a VERY unique player to emulate. Rob on the other hand is such a monster himself he gets the point across with confidence. he keeps crucial parts of the soloing as they should be to make sense and then he explodes in is own right to metal the faces...A superb player!!!!!
Yes, Reb is a great performer. I saw him with Whitesnake in 2015. I've seen George live as well. To me just different a approach to them live. As you know studio recording is a lot different than live, it's almost impossible to match it note for note. I've been playing guitar for 60 years and I never play a solo the same, especially if it's difficult to reproduce live. I love both of them, but for me, being a huge Lynch fan, I've got to go with him.
I am for GEORGE!!!
He doesn't phrase over the bar line like Lynch does. That was always my favorite thing about George's playing.
I knew this is old but I comment anyway being a guitar player for the last 4 years I grew up in George was my guitar hero along with Vivian Campbell and Warren demartini. I didn't care much for winter however as a guitar player anybody should be able to recognize the talent and skill that Reb has. I saw George live in 2011 with Lynch mob and I literally stood a foot in front of him and watched as he took a lot of liberties with the dokken solos. I don't know if you just got tired of playing these things the way he recorded them or if you couldn't recreate them, I don't know but I will say that I've seen three or four live videos of black magic and red seems to play it different every time so....... Back to the video, I don't think that rep really changed the souls enough that your average person would even really know, there may have been parts that George recorded that rep couldn't play, not saying George is way better or vice versa I just knew sometimes I run into apart someone's recorded that I just cannot play. It always seem to happen every damn time I might try to cover somebody like Randy Rhodes or George, or Warren demartini, Van Halen etc. There's always be like one bar of a solo or some lick that I could just never figure out or technically do. Then there was guys leaking they who even after playing 35 years I still can't play almost any of his stuff. So I think these guys are equally skilled in their own right, but one thing that I always love that George did that I could never figure out how to do and use in original stuff, is his use of diminished scales. I'm kind of backtracking here but years ago I remember watching tons of videos on RUclips of George playing stuff off of his soul albums and I got to be honest I thought some of it really sounded not so pleasing to the ear. Always gave George props for not sticking to the 80s style he was new for but man some of his improv stuff was just not for me to say the least. But then several years later I saw a video of him playing with docking again and this guy was playing and stuff off the records he recorded and just smoking totally awesome! No I might be off here I'm not really too sure but I do believe George is a lot older than Reb, and even at my peon level, I can tell you this give me 5 years is made a big difference with what I can't do anymore as far as my hands moving being flexible and my dexterity. Did some of this big rant of mine I just like to say that I wish I could play like either of these guys. Plus I've actually met George in person and he was one of the coolest celebrities I have ever made took the time to talk to me and my son and was just totally a great guy. Also I mentioned earlier about George's use of diminished scales, but I've seen Reb do things with the whammy bar that are awesome as well. I grew up in that era of Brad gillis off the speaker of the devil album and was just instantly in love with the whammy bar.
toca mejor q linch
To me this is Reb's best work post Winger but Reb is like Vivian Campbell - every band he's been a part of is better because he's there
Definitely not George! He’s good in his own style, but cannot capture George Lynch tones, phrasing, nor chemistry.
Yep, whether LYNCH or Reb Bench? Tha shyt sounds 🔥... I'm "guessing 🤔" this live footage is around the Erase the Slate era? Don still sounds good here.....And even though a LYNCH fan from the early daze, muchos RESPECT! 🤘 I will be listening to some old 80s/early 9Os METAL on Pandora etc. and they'll play some WINGER and I'm like?!? 🤔 Dane, that Reb dude IS A BAD MOFO! 🤘🔥😡🎸🥁🎉😎🤘 GET DOWN.....
He nailed every solo and added his own tapping in flawlessly except for In My Dreams.
Surprised that Mustane didn’t try draft hime at some point….
Reb is tha Man! Hell , anyone that can step in and fill Horhay’s shoes has got it goin on!!! Rock -On Reb! 💫plus get along with Don LMAO!!!
I read some comments and it feels like people are saying (in general) that Lynch is better? Reb is superior to George, I assume nost would agree. Always lived Lynch but one thing his playing lacked to me: inagination. He hardly played riffs, mist of his songwriting is that percussive beat that keeps time rhrough the songs and allows for lots of room for a vocalist to try melodies, which isn't a bad thing
I was there one night in PA. He's better than most people think. He played flawless it was so heavy. Don't forget heaviest rhythm section best drummer. It was a great show.
