Stone wall and steps restoration
Follow our journey as we bring this old church from the 1800s and its gardens back to life
In this video, we will be repairing the 200 year old stone wall at the front of our property. Replacing the old concrete and pointing the stones with lime mortar, carefully choosing the right stones to rebuild the wall so that it can be close to its former glory and blend in nicely with the surrounding landscape. Quirky capping stone pattern. Moving large stones and we also reinstate the old stone steps and incorporate them into the wall design.
We hope you find this video entertaining. Thanks for watching!!

Brawo 😊
Très beau travail ! Bravo
You sir have one heck of a wife/girlfriend! She jumps right in and works very hard! Awesome gate, very very well built!
Thank you very much Matthew! That’s very kind of you to say! It’s teamwork!Olga :)
Отличная работа, Бро! Приезжай в Россию, будем тебя рады видеть у нас в России.
DACĂ TURNA ȘI BETON PE POARTĂ , ERA INTRARE ÎN BUNCĂR . NICI PUTIN NU PUTEA ÎNTRA CU..., TANCUL !
Fantastic work!! Congratulations to both of you ! A real piece of work! Best wishes from Montreal!
Video is basically useless. No close-up view of detail cutting or joining of connections.
This is the best gate I have ever seen!
Like seeing the progress your making. Hope you continue showing updates
i love that your voice password is a swear word. ; )
Pozdrawiam .. ps. Ładna brama wyszła..Solidna rama nośna, Dużo pracy Z jakiego kraju pochodzisz, wybacz moją ciekawość..
Seen a BIGGER WOODEN GATE ON RUclips.... YOURS IS SMALL😂
Beautiful work love the video. Great job
seems pretty standard size to me , locally anyway
You were looking for plum, not level.
What type.of hinges are you usuing??
@@rosemily100 they are double strap field gate hinges 900mm and 600mm
If you get a stonemason to look over your work, I'm sure He/She/They/Them(Any other Identification Human Being) would Be Happy with your Work
You might look at websters for burnishing
and now you've just made it easier for them to climb the rocks and get over the gate. All that work for nothing
брус залить в бетон.. не обжечь, не обработать от гниения... ведь есть же горелка у него... ну тупые... через 5 лет брус сгниёт - и вся работа пойдёт коту под хвост
Work smarter not harder, great use of old age mechanical tools
This looks absolutely gorgeous, well done! I love stone and masonry look for garden and retaining walls as they fit with natures aesthetics so well. I can't wait to see what you folks do next on your wonderful property and home. Cheers!
And now you have a Jolly Nice Gate .
I’m currently designing my own gates. Thus the watch… Aluminum frame for a 6’ gate: 35 lb, 1/2” cedar board cladding to suit area: total weight less than 100lb/ gate. Does the same work. Hardware and actuator cost? Far, far less.
What was the logic behind making the gate so heavy? Pretty sure the Trojans have been exposed as frauds by now.
If you had attached the blue dolly the right way round moving the gate out of the kitchen would have been much easier! Just say’n.
@@allansutton557 unless you have someone with you who can tip it the way they are designed to be used, it is better to turn them around and drag them backwards with weight on. That way the front lifting plat doesn’t get caught on anything as obviously there is no one there to tip it up.
you make great videos, but videos need to be longer, like 17-25 minutes long.
Thank you for the feedback!!
Excellent video and a fantasic job. Well Done 👍
Your mot runs out on that honda in few days lololol great work im looking to make something similar will be using your ideas 😂😂😂😂
@@AshLongie it’s a good job you reminded us! Hope the video was helpful
Beautifully done. I hope you’ll eventually remove the satellite dishes off the side of the church.
@@corydriver7634 thanks, yes I can’t wait to get rid of them!
Beautiful work, did you consider wood dowels to hold the joints instead of screws? Props to you (pun intended) for lifting that frame on your own. A 250 kilo clean and jerk is no small feat.
@@corydriver7634 thanks! No it’s something I hadn’t thought of, perhaps on the next one 🤔 yes it wasn’t the easiest thing to move around, that’s for sure.
Enjoyed a full-watch. 👍🏽🤠 10/19/24
Wow! Absolutely beautiful!!!
wiatr połamanie ten siłownik. Jak nie potrafisz to się nie zabieraj.
No idea how comfortable that is, but boy do you look amazing in it... 😊
Top job and a lot of hard graft. Are you sure you didn’t help out Egypt with there pyramids 👀👌🏴
That’s a massive amount of work and looks great. I was doing a bit of kerbing recently. And found the benefit of using semi dry concret. Semi dry concret may have been a better option form laying ur steps. For ur retaining wall I hope u have back filled with drainage stones as most can retaining walls will fail if there is no drainage behind them.
Beautiful, as is everything you do. Are you planning to plant a shrub either side of those gorgeous steps? Or a pair of old stone urns perhaps, with greenery and trailing plants? I always think stone and green plants go so very well together - can't wait to see how you're going to finish the front off.
Hi Tris, thank you very much! We want to plant lots of shrubs in between the stones in the top and also either side of the steps and at the base of the wall where we’ve laid the gravel. I think it will blend it all well together. Thanks for watching!!
Great work, very impressive.
So nice to see another post and to watch the incredible progress you two have made. Thank you for allowing us follow this exceptional transformation.
Great to have another post. I imagine that this was very hard work and yet again a skilful and stylish result. Well done 🎉
Thank you for your comment!
Your content is great. Video techniques are solid. You are showing us very detailed sequences of your work. However, not sure if you've noticed the repetitive nature of the particular RUclips music you've chosen to use. It begins by repeating the same few measures for a good length of time; them, adds a few new measures with a bit flourish and repeats the new set a bit shorter amount of time; then, goes back and repeats the initial measures for a good lenth of time; then, back to the measures with a bit of flouish for a shorter period of time; then, back to the original measures for a good length of time, then... I'm hoping there is no voice over as I turned the sound off at 10:27.
@cferguson3368 thank you for your feedback. You are totally right, we are still learning about editing but unfortunately it is a slow learning curve. There is a big difference between our first videos and our newest content but we keep learning and hopefully improving with each one. Thank you for your constructive feedback and taking the time to explain. Thanks for watching!!
Smart, as per mate.
Looks great. Hard work pays off for many many years to come.
Look really good well done both of you xx
First class project folks, well done and thanks for posting.
Such a good job. The wall looks great.
