For those worrying about that installation continuing to stand: The post has way more moment capacity than needed to carry that gate. It's an 8-inch square post. Assuming the gate weights about 1500lbs, acting at a lever arm of about 6-1/2 feet, the stress in that post is less than 1400psi. Which is about 50% of what will break that post in bending, or a factor of safety of at least 2. Burrying the post in 3ft x 3ft x 1-1/2ft of concrete in stable soil assures a factor of safety of at least 2, against the post sinking or overturning. So, unless someone completely clears the surrounding area and allows the soil around the foundation to be significantly eroded (most unlikely), that post ain't going nowhere! Take it from an old civil engineer.
