Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Clause...& there is an ignorant bigot named Archie Bunker. Unfortunately it appears he & his prejudice will never be permitted to pass, as it continues to be taught even today, while he is cold & stiff, laid to rest. Even one of the greatest men to ever live, George Wallace apologized, forgave & WAS forgiven. You should follow his lead, sir.

you didn't think Daniel Day Lewis did a good job in the movie? Most people felt as you do about his work. Though Mr.Mansfield's portrayal is also great. I like the mild, authenic seeming Southern accent.

many who fly the Conderate Flag call themselves Patriots of the US. Do you not see the disconnect there? That flag stands for people who did NOT WANT to be part of the USA anymore. THey withdrew. They were not patriots to the USA and that isn't really debated (as patriots obviously don't sucede to start a new country). Some woud think them traitiors. Boothe was a fool because if Lincoln had been around stilll for the four more yrs he was elected to Reconstruction wouldve gone a lot better.

Lincoln says "no one's going to remember what we say here". Funny, everyone does. THough I get his point of remembering the dead. I'm not sure if we are still moved and think about and revere the men who fought the civil war to save our union.

Mr. Mansfield your delivery of my favorite speech of all time was absolutely superb, thank you for choosing to upload it and share it with us sir. Additionally, I have been reading the comments on this video and while you have been receiving some of the most vitriolic and petty comments I have seen on RUclips, you've handled absolutey every one you have responded to with a level of humbleness and grace unheard of on RUclips, at least in my experience. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it, there is no makeup. That is the way I look all the time except for the vest and bow tie. I was a tourist that day & since I was at a Lincoln site I decided to go as Lincoln. Students studying history came by & ask if I would say the Gettysburg Address & let them film it. When I was sent me a copy they encouraged me to put it on RUclips. Sometime before long I hope to video this address again to see how I might present it now.
