Volvo Penta DP 290 Drive Oil Change
Replacing the outdrive oil for a Volvo Penta DuoProp DP-E AQ 290 series drive. This procedure should work on any of the AQ series outdrives that have a dipstick and fill port - These drives do not require the use of a lower unit oil pump to fill them like most other outdrives.
We used 2.85 quarts(2.7L) of Valvoline 75w-90 Synthetic GL-5 oil.

Rebuilding trim rams/cylinders from a Volvo Penta Duo Prop 290 DP-E series sterndrive and replacing the caps and seals. In our case we replace the whole seal cap assembly due to corrosion and damage. This procedure should work on all DP-A,B,C,D&E Aquamatic (AQ) 290 DuoProp drives and may work on other Volvo Penta trim assemblies.

We acquired a weathered and neglected teak swim platform to install on our boat. Before we can do that, we need to restore it back to new by cleaning, sanding and oiling the teak. In the future we will be installing this onto the back of the Carolina Classic 25.

Owner's manual says don't turn dipstick in when checking the oil level.

What did you use for the front render?
Does adding this rear fender make it road legal?
The bike passed inspection so I guess it was fine legality wise.
It was a front fender kit off of Amazon.
@ncv4708 was it a front fender for this bike then just customized for the back?
I just picked up a 1982 Yamaha XJ650 Maxim and ik they are completely different but I have a quick question! Did doing the 4 carb conversion to 2 change anything of the bike? the sound or anything at all? They offer the conversion for my Yamaha to and want to know before I order!
It didn't really change the sound, but it did make the bike rev quicker and actually make it capable of picking up the front tire since it got rid of the lag of the CV style carburetors.
I’m seeing in later videos in the series that you went with Murray Carbs. Did you attempt to install the originals and have trouble getting it to run well? What made you change your mind?
I didn't even attempt to install them as I remember CV carburetors not working well with pod carburetors. They usually tend to be laggy and never idle correctly.

Where did you get that specialty tool to install and remove the caps? Have a part number for the tool?
It's a generic pin spanner wrench from Amazon. I believe there are several adjustable ones that you can even interchange the pin sizes for around $20.
Question: What did you do as far as the petcock? My buddy is building a similar bike, using the identical tank. The petcock on it seems to be starving the engine at highway speeds. Were you able to overcome this somehow? Thanks!
The one that came with the tank seems to work fine on this one. Maybe there is something else wrong? Maybe the cap isn't venting properly?

what do you recommend for teh lube for the o rings?
I would just use gear oil to lube the o-rings since that will be available anyway.
Hey there, nice video! I am new to the motorcycle community and I don't have a lot of knowledge about carbs. I have a 1993 Honda CB750 and was wondering about this kits' amount of carbs. I assume the 1992 version also has 4 carbs. Could you explain if there is any difference in performance with using 2 instead of 4? Do each of the carbs you installed in this provide the same amount of fuel/air as two of the stock? Thanks for the help!
So this kit has better performance, but uses more fuel. The factory carburetors function off vacuum (CV style) which meters fuel differently than the Mikunis which are a slide style that is directly connected to the throttle. The bike can actually burnout or wheelie now with the new carbs.

Nope zero issues.
I am building the same bike right now, and am tempted to go with these instead of rebuilding and jetting the old carburators. I see you rebuilt your originals, why did you go with these? How long did it take you to get them? Were they pretty much plug and play tuning?
They start and ran out of the box. I adjusted them a little for better throttle response which I thought was needed.

It actually didn't change the ride quality much. The tires are what made the ride quality a bit more harsh.

Nope! Factory ignition works fine with these carbs.

Nope, they were fresh drums from Toyota that were done part of a TSB.
is it possible to install one of these without moving 5o battery location on my 2000 cb750 nighthawk? it says on murrays carbs that you dont have to do any frame mods, but it seems having the relocate the battery is a pretty big task
Unfortunately since the airbox is also the battery box (molded as one piece) I think you have to relocate the battery or hack the battery/airbox down to fit the carbs.
@@ncv4708 thankyou for the insight, been w8ndering if it was even possible for awhile. at this point idk what to do next besides jetting the current carbs then because im trying to not get too involved with adjusting the frame because ei dont have much experience and its my first and only bike.
How do you like it since the carb swap?
So I built this for a friend and he loves it. But in the short time I rode and debugged the bike it was great. Could actually take off hard enough to pull the front up some.
Not familiar with Murray carbs, are they better than Mikunis? Saw a build using Mikunis and the throttle was much more responsive and faster abviously. Did you need to rejet the Murrays?
They are Mikuni’s. What’s Murray’s is the 2 into one manifolds and the service they do to the carbs to set them up for you needs.
Yup as @deegan727 said. They are Mikunis. You are paying for the carb set up and the special manifolds.

Question. Is that a stock front rim with a fork swap? I'd like to do a fork swap but want to keep my wheel and brakes.
It is. It's stock for the bike, just painted gold. Stock wheels too

@@joshbethel5800 Oh no. No swap, these are the ones that came with the 1992 CB750 Nighthawk. I just rebuilt these and painted them gold.
Ok so how did you get the digital image of the logo I want to do the same with my 1990 Olympic 2300
So in my case I found an image online that was of the logo and I edited it where it had a transparent background for use in the Cricut software. However, I've had to create some brands logos from scratch for some boats I've done like a Sea Sport 2080CC.
Did this install mess up the safety sense calibration ?
Not that I could tell. Everything has worked perfectly with the pre collision detection.

The air screw most likely needs adjustments. Google images has a diagram that will show you what screws are which. I had to make some adjustments to get this set to run right.

Nice video I just picked up a CB 750 and pull these guys off and clean the carbs since it had been sitting for a full year. I was hoping you were going to show how to adjust the idle and Air screws but nonetheless awesome video.
I did have to adjust the air screws in quite a bit. I believe these carbs are jetted quite a bit on the rich side.

what rubber grommet/ring or holder did you use for the gas tank forward mounts? Can't find anything that works right.
I cut and used some extra thick vacuum caps on the tubing I welded in. Worked great.
Hello there, awesome build! Do you happen to know or remember what diameter the header pipe is where you cut off your muffler? I'm researching for my own build currently & want to find what aftermarkets I can use before I start modding in the winter, I'm attempting to make a mock up cb900f with the turnout dual exhaust!
I actually can't remember haha. The mufflers I bought had several different sized adapters that came with them.

There is, but it's machined that way. They are fully seated though.

Do you think it made a difference in the speed of the bike?
The bike actually didn't run when I received it. Also since we were removing the airbox this seemed like the only option. However compared to bikes with CV carbs I've ridden, the Mikunis have MUCH better throttle response, it's zero lag.
