Lack of vision will do that. No reason to "demake" X7, much like what another dev is doing to X8. The one thing you could have explored a bit more freely if you wanted to was how Axl would have played. But I get your reasons. Zero should play like a beatem up character with combos like streets of rage the enemies should be able to get juggled and so forth

A fun note of you having Slash Beast as a boss in the beta here gives me vibes of how Magma Dragoon came back in MMX5 as the "Trainer" boss in the training stage. If you had kept a beta stage and linked some stuff up, I think it still would have worked as he did it in X5 since you'd have Slash Beast as a "rough trainer" here just the same as well lol

Man this is sad... Your ideas are magnificent... They are what truly would have made the game shine... Every single one of them are great... It's as if this was the fantasy the original creators of the game wanted with the systems but failed to achieve... Well it's sad to see the project gets discarded... But i hope you all the best in your other endeavours... But if there is a sliver of hope that you can complete this master piece... I'll cling to it.. 😅

As developer myself, I understand the frustation of being in development hell.. but i still want to say thank you for sharing to all us. for us who was borned during 2000s we all keep imagining how cool if megaman can do this and that.. seeing able to switch between zero and x itself was so cool. hope all the best for the future

extremely intelligent to make it open source instead of being ultra prideful and letting the project die out. At least with this being open source, somebody will probably finish it or use it as a base for other fan games

Megaman x7 was the game I played the most of all X games (funnily enough, is the worst, but its the one Its been on my heart since my childhood XD) And to the characters to the very menu, they give me a sense of both Nostalgia and a sense of "HOLY, IS THIS WHAT X7 COULD HAVE BEEN LIKE?" It makes me sad that this project couldn't go any further, but just by having it here open source opens a lot of possibilities, I loved the fan-game project, hope to see someone finishing it in the further.

I have 1 question: How can i make the character sprites fit perfectly in Godot frame? currently i am working on adding Axl to the roster but unlike unity sprite, i have the "Sprite Inconsistent" problem when trying to make the animation due to the sprite are splitted unequally. So can you give me a hint on how you made Zero and Axl sprite fit in frame so perfectly ??? Thank you

Whoa, you're making a 2D version of X7? I mean it seems like there's more to it than that but that's essentially what this is? That's mad cool man, much respect. I may actually be able to play and ENJOY X7! Also, nice choice of stage music. I love the Command Mission OST and that track fits real well for the little training area you have. Edit: my ass just read the description. LoL. Sad that this got canceled, great to hear you've got something else in the works though! This is dope man I would feel proud of it if I was you no doubt :)

What if you add vile as a playable character but hes solo

In spite of the troubles through development and messyness might lie on the project files, this is a pretty incredible thing to have on open source! What are the limits for this source code? Are we allowed to use it in our own projects even commercially (at a point where there'd be no Megaman IP left on it, naturally)? I might be dumb but I can't find anything on it around.

I could any problems on making changes on core problematic stuff of x7 to better suit 2d.man, it is x7, people want to be changed, and keep at base to remember at least, sadly got canceled, but happy that source it is open to be continued and finished bys someone else, and hope your adventures continues

You know i wish ppl would do more megaman x 32 bit i hate 16 bit its over done over killed and i like the look more of the x characters in 32 bit. Its as if everyone hates 32 bit art style and looks and only does 16 bit styles. 32 bit gets no love and it sucks. For once i would love to see a full x game with all the characters in 32 bit be fully completed but that never happens.

Nice work. I had the idea of doing something like this, but tbh, the life of being a family man and provider does not allow me for a lot of free time. I might tinker with your project, tho.

Never heard of Project Code Red and this seems really neat. A shame you cancelled it, but I get it. I want to make a MMX fan-game too but I plan to be X9 in a way and set up the events for MMZ. What is the Open Source for? Game Maker Studio? Godot? Unity? I’ll take a look at it when I get home. Best of luck on the new X Game Project.
