6 things you need to get started in Blacksmithing!!!
Do you know why it's called "steel"? Because, if I see it; I'm gonna steal it.
Thank you for this video I got an anvil for my 14th birthday after having all the other material for a few months and I’m very happy to get started
Likely illegal in many countries to destroy a quality old Golok #2 like that! Where ever you are I hope the old tool justice league catches up with you soon!
You doin the good job ..why you stop? 😮
HOW AWFUL . NOT A RESTORATION A MASSACRE
Take the metal and sell it to recycling. Use the money buy what you need.
Did you ever bother with the tig? Ive had mine for a few years, and never got around to it either 😅
Great video. Thank you for this 🙏
ive been making metal roses for some years now, and i wanted to make some kind of table with my roses attached, this is stunning 😊😊 im in subscribed.
nice review. cheers mate
The traditional handle on the Golok does not have a full tang. The gap at the end stops fatigue in the hand when using all day. Beech handle been used for decades with no complaints.
Grinder is a bit harsh
It a golock no 2
magnets can stick to stainless steel just be careful. I had a bulk milk tank that was magnetic and very obviously ss
I watched untill you got the angle grinder going then realised this was not a restoration just a plain butchery job of some thing which could off been to made as new
where did you go my dude ?
Outstanding video !
These things were issued blunt so it was up to the squaddies to sharpen it...
Each squaddie was resp for sharpening their own gear. Ensuring a uniform edge for that user.
Is it still working?
Is it still working?
Yes it very much is. Still going strong
Well done and I'm sure Amy will treasure it and treat it well in it's new life. Looked after she can pass it down to her kids, always great to give something some TLC to be used for years to come with loving memories, rather than rust away and her father would be more than well pleased with the outcome as I am sure you are.
Bad video
nice series
Use banana body for quenching instead of water if your blade is thin to prevent cracking or cheaping stuck in bananas body you can see a perfect hard knife and strong!try it men
Not restoration is modification
Have you tried the TIG yet?
Honestly no I haven’t I’ve fell in love with stick welding and trying to get better at them but it’s definitely something I’m going to try
@@TheDancecommander5 Fair enough. I like stick a lot too, but also TIG,
It's gone up to 160 bloody quid on Amazon... They probably watched your review!
Ive learned that the vikings used hard water or rainwater if you will. It means stagnant water that has been sitting there for ages . Now im just a mere lorry mechanic but it semes to me that when a time was when oil was to rear and to expensive to use, you had no other option. What is your thoughts on that ? thanks for the video and i hope your hand is donig better as time goes along . best of regards from Norway
This is very true! The main thing to consider with this point however is the quality of the steel used. High quality steel was extremely difficult to produce in this period and was reserved for higher echelons of European societies. Most swords were made from steel with a lot of Impurities and this would have a profound effect on the quench. The lower the carbon content of steel the easier a successful water quench would be to do. However even with high quality steel water quenching has been done through history. The samurai forged straight swords and quenched in water and the process and the different grades of steel is what gave the katana it’s signature curve. There are people today that practice the art of the water quench for blades. But it is exactly that…an art. It’s takes high levels of preparation, skill and knowledge to pull off a successful water quench. It comes with a lot of risks which are largely (but not completely) alleviated by quenching in oil. My hand has fully healed thank you for asking and Norway is one of my favourite places on earth. Kind regards
@@TheDancecommander5 Cool ive learned alot just now from this . Thanks for the heart on my comment ( i think its my first) and god bless your hand and skills . Keep the videos going my friend
@@notsure7060 you are very welcome and if you haven’t already check out my video on what is quenching where I go in to more details
@@TheDancecommander5 You have just earned yourself a subscriber =) i will see it thanks again
очень много разговоров,можно было за 15 минут уложиться
Awsome bud looking smart, just need 3po to go with him….. joking
You could Weld a bracket or something to the body to mount shocks on 'sommehow', and have adjustment mounting so the legs can move and it can then be stood in different stances
Interesting will have to have a look at that
Looking good bud, I appreciate the amount of work home into it
Why has this video got TIG in the title???
As I say in the video the welder it’s self is a tig welder as well as a stick welder. I purchased it as a tig welder but because of the co2 shortage I had to start off stick welding. The welder is set up and comes with everything you need (other than the gas) to start tig welding.
Very interesting video Luke. 🌟👍
Thanks Roy
Lookin real good bud with your bag of stuff, I’m likening very much
Where is the restoration part? Esp. reg, the original well preserved handle.
Bend the spoon with your mind
There are historic finds of re-welded sword blade done a lot like the way the elves did it in lord of the rings film. Not quite like the film but you would need to start again. You see every on from Japanese to Vikings repairing swords that way.
Very informative. Glad to see your hand is improving 🙂
Get better soon Luke👍
Thank you
Get better soon Lukey
get well soon my dude cannot wait for some new videos off you 😀
Well done mate. Looks the business. We were all issued with one of these with a webbing sheath when we arrived in Indonesia for Project Wallace (a joint service exped) in 1985. They are a bugger to sharpen but not too difficult to then keep sharp and we used them to cut and maintain trails through previously unmapped primary rainforest in a support role for a multinational scientific survey.
Thank you. It is awesome to hear from someone that was actually issued one. I believe these have been in service since ww2 or soon after to present day. If It isn’t broke don’t fix it I suppose.
Good job dude. Can't wait to see what you create with it.
Excellent craftmanship dude. Looks awesome!
Thank you
That was amazing. Must put another order in soon. 😁😁
