What was the lesson to result ratio…was this all achieved in one session?
@KevinBoyce-m1o I'm not sure what you mean. Yes the young lady in the lesson did this in one hour. She understood what it was supposed to feel like and is at a developmental age that she could use it right away.
this was great
One good thing about younger kids is they still repect their elders and honer authorithy. They are ready and willing to learn.Good job coaching, God bless
Love your tips!!! Thanks❤❤
During the setting drill, what do you mean by "plug your ears"? I don't understand what you mean by: "The faster you plug your ears, the higher the set goes."
@@Daniel_McD try to touch your ears with your shoulders like you're diving into a pool.
@@my5 Thank you for your direct response to my question. So, then, what you mean is: when I raise my hands up, my shoulders rise to cover my ears. Doing this rapidly (while serving) creates more force to send the ball up into the air. But rather than focus on "forcing the ball up into the air", you are having them focus on the body mechanics involved in producing that outcome. I like it. Thanks.
@Daniel_McD exactly. Well said, I'm an athlete/coach, not a poet. Lol.
Consider the statement: "I first teach kids to serve underhand so they can experience success, hand-eye coordination, and weight transfer." Comments? (btw, it's with Parks & Rec 9/10/11 year olds)
I just started as a coach for 9-10 year olds and this video is SO helpful. I was having trouble with a couple of these things but I think I'll be able to really stress these at next practice and get it down!!
Gracias, muchas gracias
How many points did you go to with these drills?
Thank you for your videos, I'm coming from a baseball background, with an amazing son that now wants to do volleyball, and he's got very inexperienced coaches. I have been basically forced into coaching next season, lol, and while I have a penchant for coaching I have no volleyball experience so I really appreciate your videos and I'm looking forward to learning a lot.
Thank, you. Welcome over to the sport. Fortunately, there are many parallels in different sports, so I know there are motions that are similar to baseball that will help! 😊
This is brilliant!!! I cant wait to do this with our girls at practice this week.
Coach Addie, we applied your principles in our practice with our daughter today. I was amazed with the results! She was able to time her jump, catch the ball in the right portion of it, snap her wrist, and hit the ball down and not out! This is just amazing and I have to express a big "Thank You!" for taking the time to go through this process, break it down, explain it, and make a highly effective video (or set of videos, really). We have been to so many volleyball camps and with so many coaches. Either we hear, "don't worry about it, she will get it in two or three years" or we hear bits and pieces. I have no doubt that many of the coaches were sincere, but it is clear to me that something was missing. Either they were not detailed oriented and left it to the person's natural rhythm and athleticism to fill correct their deficiencies, or maybe the coaches did not really know how to get our daughter there. I think that since you actually lived what you teach and were able to play at a high level, you have an insight that most coaches. You also are obviously highly analytical and you also have the mental strength to push through and get to the root of the various issues. Most people can't go that deep. We all have multiple interests in our life that competes with the time and mental energy we can put into learning a task. Some have kids, sick parents, a demanding job, mental challenges, money challenges - you name it. So, I don't hold it against the coaches we have worked with. I also understand that their are many people who really DON'T wand to give away all their "secrets." In our interactions with other volleyball parents, we have found that many, if not most, are not free with sharing their knowledge. We tell them about camps and instructors and find out that they have already used those resources and did not tell us. I guess I was naive to think that we are all on the same journey and to share all that I have learned, especially things learned the hard way. I am learning that in competitive sports, there is an unwritten rule of not giving aide to your rivals. I can understand this, especially if the girls will be competing for the same position(s). All I can say is that in one hour of applying the principles in your videos, we have taken a great, great leap in hitting with form and accuracy. Now, I have to decide whether or not I should be a selfish "b#$#$@d" like everyone else and keep your videos to myself, or share them with other volleyball parents. I really don't know which way to go but kudos to you for keeping us from having to spend hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars, spinning our wheels chasing this approach and that approach. Sorry for the long post, I just had to get this off my chest and illustrate to people how special your videos have been to us and to anyone who really wants to prioritize volleyball and not just depend on others to get their child to reach his/her potential in the shortest amount of time.😀😀😀
@JSustain wow, thank you so much for the thought gone into your comment. I can tell it means a lot to you. I'm so happy to hear they help, and this helps my motivation to create more which I have done in a really long time. I wish you and your athlete the best! Thank you for taking the time to watch, understand and comment! Cheers!
Wow. I have been to many coaches. Very, very, few are detailed-oriented enough to analyze hitting to this degree. Wow!
thank you!
What type of ball do you use with your very young players. Also, what is your net height with them.
thank you! these are awesome
Thank you, I’m working with a group of young girls teaching them volleyball. Your videos are full of great tips.
Thank you so much! My daughter's coach keeps telling her that she is swinging too much on her passes and I couldn't find a video that addresses this specifically. This is a masterclass for me, a non vb player yo try to help her improve at home. ❤️❤️ I'm very grateful you are sharing your coaching!
Do you have any advice on attack timing? I'm having trouble when it comes to knowing when to start my approach and i find I'm often too early so i end up under the ball, but if i delay a little then I'm too late. Any tips would be appreciated.
If you're using a 3 step approach, your first step happens just as the ball leaves to setters hand. The next thing to look for is the ball rounding the top of its rainbow. just before it comes down toward you, is when you do the 2 step plant and jump up to it. Make sure to pause on the first step if it's a high set because if you cruise right through it,you'll end up being early even when start on time.
@@my5 thanks!
Can we have dinner sometime?
I think she is married. She is gorgeous right?
You need way more subs! This is great info and well done! Thank you!

Top coaching, thanks!!
I've been coaching at the college level for close to 25 years, now I'm starting to coach my 10 year old daughter and her friends, this was unbelievably helpful, can't thank you enough.
I agree! I have coached varsity and 8th grade... 10-12 year olds is much much harder. Thank you for the ideas!
This is such an amazing video!! I mostly coach varsity, but am helping with younger players and the breakdown will definitely help me with the learning process. Thank you so much for sharing.
Like this a lot. I will use it. Thank You
Such an awesome idea!
This was so helpful for our 5-8th winter camp! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
This is so helpful! Thank you! What age group is this? Do you ever teach young kids (ie 5th grade) to serve underhand?
Great video! Do you have a suggestion for the box jump? Searching for a good option for our team!
I'm not sure what you mean......suggestions for getting onto the box? What kind of info are you looking for?
Nice! Good job!
Holy cow…. ‘Chest bump the setter” - what a fantastic verbal description…. Fantastic stuff.
Holy shit this makes so much sense. Thank you! Will be watching this with my daughter.
Wish I’d found you years ago! I’m coaching 12U and how you word things for kids is so helpful. Thank you for sharing!
I love that you make the explanations quick ! Really useful layouts for the drills ! Thanks
love the way you addressed every aspect to make it a thorough and COMPLETE explanation. Thanks Addie!
I'm searching for a amazing which helps me improve my approach but today i found tq so much you are really amazing teacher
Amazing, Thank you!
professor you're really good
Once again, the best volleyball channel on RUclips!!!!
Your channel is pure gold. I gained a lot of useful info from it. Many thanks, and it's a pitty it doesn't have so much views.
Magnificent!!!
Thank you for this video! I’m a mom of a 5’10 14 year old 1st year girl volleyball player. And this is extremely helpful!!!! 🏐💪🏾🙌🏾
Amazing!!! You're an awesome coach!!!
Thanks for your videos, they are truly amazing. I've noticed that you usually use two balls for drills. When a player learns, it's better to go down to one ball first. This is because the brain cannot process that much information before a new skill is imprinted.
