In this video i will be going over the airman/airwoman selection test and some tips to help you through it Ryan's Blog ryan9900.wordpress.com/author/ryan9900/ Online AST Practice Package www.jobtestprep.co.uk/raf-aptitude-test/ AST Practice Book www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00NBCZA2W/ref=cm_sw_r_apa_i_keHHEbDVTZQM7 Note that RAF recruitment circumstances can change and this video may be out of date in ...
Hi mate we are waiting for your next video.
Amazing video thank you. My son is planning on applying. 4 years ago, it will be amazing to see you now, I will look at your channel.
how's it going?
Unsure if this was a service medical or civilian ? Really surprised the urine test didn't cover drugs use ! In my day your medical was conditional on recruiting requirements more than physical fitness
Hope the tying your hair in a bun advice is targeted at females 😅 or is the RAF recruiting man-bun wearers?
I remember my medical. In them days it was done by the padre and you would have to go around to his house to have it done. Due to the Official Secrets Act you were never allowed to talk about it. He would brief you on this when you were getting dressed.
Hi, is dental check part of the medical?thanks
I was flat out rejected by army, navy and RAF because I had... HAD asthma as a child, despite being clear from it for 10 years when I applied. I wasn't given any advice, guidance or a chance to be deferred. Just shown the door and "thank you for your interest but no". That was 8 years ago and the requirements have only gotten more stringent since then. The military's entry standards are next to impossible for almost anyone who applies now.
Raf and navy do in house medical now, when reading the requirements, stuff like that is case by case. Army still uses capita, for some fucking reason.
@@roachitane my mate was rejected by RAF because he had a rash... once... 2 years ago. You literally need to be perfect before you apply. Don't see the point in striving for impossible standards when you can now be killed by a drone with no effort.
@@Indoor_Carrot okay but was it capita doing the medical? The three branches have different medical standards as well. I’m not rly worrying much about me joining the military since they are desperate for recruits and capita won’t be doing my medical 🤷♂️ will have to wait and see I suppose, but from what I’ve heard from guys that have done the medical I’m gonna be getting it’s rly not that strict. Agree with the drone bombs, that’s just wild.
My partner had asthma as a child he's in the navy now he was able to pass through medical stuff and doing an extra test I believe but he was able to get in
I am an air cadet and I am very passionately looking to join the RAF, and these videos are really helpful and I am really appreciative that you are a great role model for future and current RAF personnel.
INSANE!!!! ur so young here, now ur an oldie
Is he in the raf now?
i know this guy, great guy
I really wanna join but I’m definitely going to get deferred as I have Crohn’s disease 😬😂
how long did it take
I have extremely mild asthma and mostly asymptomatic but I am very enthusiastic in becoming a fast jet pilot. I want to join in a few years after A-levels but I'm worried I'll get refused despite being in good health and fitness. Even though I have asthma, I've never had an asthma attack and go on daily runs with no issue at all, do you think if I tried, I could get a medical waiver and still get in? Anyone who knows anything about it, please reply.
I was turned down simply for having asthma as a kid. Don't bother mate.
You will not pass the medical to be aircrew (which includes pilot) if you have any history of asthma, no matter how mild.
Hi there I was hoping you would be able to tell me what you wore whilst travelling to cranwell and the day of examination many thanks
Hi guys, I'm an applicant in the process of joining the Royal Air Force. I just posted a video about the Selection Interview on my channel which may interest some of you. Thank you.
Hi guys, I’m also an applicant in the process of joining the Royal Air Force. I’ll be covering the entire application process on my channel too, which I think may interest some of you. I posted my first video regarding the DAA, and I’d appreciate it if you could let me know if it has been helpful. Thank you, Vivek
What sort of attire would be considered bet for the officer presentations? I have a few dresses and a playsuit but I'm not sure weather they would be correct for this?
*best
Hey, I posted a video yesterday regarding the DAA and spoke about the dress code too. You may find it helpful🙂
I'm wondering what was in the folder you took in.
Most likely could be proof of residency, GCSES/ Alevels.
Recently, I did my cbat for officer and had the spacial reasoning as the final thing. My brain was so fried and I struggled so much on the 3d shapes.
So what happened?
I think, you will have recruited in raf for now hopefully because this video has been uploaded by you for about 3 years ago.m i right?
Helped so much bro thank you for putting time into this video you deserved the sub ❤
I joined for 5 years in 1962 brings back memories
What's the officers test like
Hey i unfortunately didn’t qualify for the job I wanted but I have the chance to sit it again, please could you help
Hi, what did you struggle with? I posted a video regarding the DAA yesterday, which may be helpful for you 🙂
Is it like a test you would do with pen and paper ?
how long is it usually between the interview and then basic training?
is the aptitude test on the same day as the intereview?
When I joined the RAF back in the Neolithic period the recruitment criteria were slightly less stringent. A mirror was placed closely in front of the candidate’s face. If it steamed up, you were in.
Hi - do they check dental work or teeth? ☺️
Yes, very briefly
The eye site test makes me the most nervous. I do wear glasses for reading IF what I am reading is far (like the more distant letters on an eye test). Would they still expect me to read without them or will they test me with my glasses on?
They will test you with your glasses off, and then they will test you with them on. If you can read all the letters with either them on or off, you will pass that element.
I am short sighted in my left eye only and im about -1.75 , looking at the pilot role ill be hopefully getting corrective eye surgery
Again, a very helpful video. Once I finish work I'll go through every video snd strike notes
I deeply appreciate this series you have put together. I have applied for the mechanical engineering role. I find this first video very helpful - I cannot wait to go through the rest!
Best of luck mate

how'd it go! mines soon!
@@milliecollins6292how'd it go?
I thought on that test there was no pass or fail, it just showed them what you are best at, thanks for telling me there is a pass or fail
Do they do a mental health assessment?
Just had my interview today and passed, thanks to your video.
Congratulations. I have mine soon too. Could you offer any advice to what was asked, any tips and subjects I should revise? Thanks.
Do we get any pen or extra paper for doing some calculation in the AST?
My interview is in a week and i know non of this
How'd it go?
Do you have a heart test for the RAF
I did my CBAT test today. I was so close to passing for Air Traffic Control Seargant. But I just came short. Not sure if I should wait a year or do something else
Hey joe is the CBAT different from the AST? And how difficult was it?
Did you do your interview the same day as your AST?
If you have been diagnosed with depression or anxiety in past by a doctor does that stop you from joining ?.
There’s no way I’m gonna be able to join for anything 😭 I have tried once but was only able to be a chef which is not what I want to be doing.
Hi mate do they request your medical history from your doctor's before this
Hello, do they ask about basic training and the phases?
Anybody done the interview since covid got it on my phone and wondered what it entails differently
I do not recall my initial interview as an airman, other than being told that I could not have my choice (to be a Policeman with a dog and a sidearm) but would be sent to be an Air Trafficker. I had no idea what that was. hahahaha. I was signed up for 12 years and had a fine career. Loved it all. On the way through over some seven years I applied for Aircrew and was rejected. Twice. I applied again for a Commission. I was sent to Biggin Hill for 'selection'. I was a Corporal with two overseas tours under m'belt. The Board Officer ( Wg Co), a very serious chap said, "Son, I see this is the third time you have applied. What will you do if we turn you down again?" I replied. "Yes, Sir, this is the third time, and this is probably the last chance you have to get it right". He burst out laughing. I was Commissioned. :)
Do they not always give you the role that you wanted?
@@jameshargreaves9264 Not always.
