Hi! Great question! I’ve had to correct typos in my book before, but I had access to the original file. While I haven’t personally converted a PDF to an editable file, I’ve heard that Adobe Acrobat is a reliable way to do this. You’ll need access to both Adobe Acrobat and Word (or compatible softwares with the same capabilities). The process looks something like this: open your PDF in Adobe Acrobat, use the ‘Export PDF’ function to convert it to a Word document, make your corrections while ensuring the formatting stays intact, and then re-export a corrected PDF. (You might find a tutorial online to confirm these steps.) Once done, upload the updated file to KDP-it will update the current edition without needing to republish or reissue, as long as your changes are just corrections. Hope this helps!

I am only familiar with KDP/Amazon royalty payouts, and I understand that KDP pays under the name the account holder, and it allows you to use multiple imprints without needing a separate bank account for each. KDPs help info will confirm this for your situation, but in my experience and those I’ve worked with, only one bank account is needed. Hope this helps.

I'm glad you find the channel helpful, and this is a great question for a possible future video! I don’t currently have a video on how Canadian publishers navigate the KDP taxation section before publishing, but it’s something I can look into creating. From my current knowledge and experience, the taxation info you provide during setup is so KDP can issue the correct forms at the end of the year, which you'll need to claim your income on your taxes. Before filing, you'll be able to download these forms from the Tax Information section and report the income (royalties) on your income tax return. I hope that helps a little! @@Birch-k2b Wonderful! Just for clarity, the downloadable tax forms I mentioned will be available during tax season after you’ve earned royalties on KDP. During setup, you’ll simply need to enter your information so KDP can properly track your earnings and provide you with the forms when the time comes.

Hi! YES! To the best of my knowledge, if an ISBN registration asks about "Other Name Used to Publish," it's for listing pen names or any other names you might use when publishing. This makes sure your works are properly linked to your ISBNs.

​@@picturebookcreators Ah, thank you so much :) Eh... does that also mean that the copyright (on the copyright page) would list the pen name (ie, "(c)Pen Name"), or would it belong to the name the ISBNs were registered under (ie, "(c)Registered Name")?

@@jamesrobinson4869 You have good questions! To the best of my knowledge, the copyright notice usually lists the pen name you want associated with the work. However, the legal rights belong to the name under which the ISBNs were registered. A legal pro could give you more specific info on this. Hi! Maybe I'll make a video about this very soon and feature your question! The imprint name does not need to be the full name you used during account creation. The KDP info site says this: What is an Imprint? Imprint names are another way books are identified, beyond using an ISBN. Publishers often release books under a different name than their company name, i.e. an imprint. Example: Penguin Random House is the publishing company name, but they often issue books under the imprint, Penguin Classics. kdp.amazon.com/en_US/help/topic/G7DMSKCM9DVS65TC

@@picturebookcreators thanks for replying! that article also says "If you’ve registered your ISBN with an imprint outside of KDP, you’ll need to provide both pieces of information exactly how they’re registered, so we can validate your book." i don't think there was anywhere to register an imprint name on the government of canada ISBN page. (also PS -- i'm waiting to hear back from them on my account creation. how long did it take for you to hear back from them?)

@@Yeboooo these are very valid questions and concerns! Thanks for asking! I’m learning a lot about KDP myself. I do understand that one aspect that helps the isbn verification process (if they require one) is that the imprint you enter on KDP also matches the info you submit when applying for an isbn (eg. Library of Canada). Hopefully, you hear back from KDP soon on the verification process. It can take awhile to set up the account just due to verifying details. I think I’ll do an imprint video soon, watch out for that if you’ve subscribed here. I hope you update here when your account in up and your publishing!
