My name is wakasm and I am a gamer like most of you who would stumble across this channel.
I've gotten back into recording #boardgame stuff again, especially #soloboardgames. So that's the main thing I'm doing these days, but I'll likely mix video game playthroughs back up in here at some point. I got back into this because my 4 year old found my channel and wanted me to do it again.
I've been recording my game plays for both entertainment and also for a virtual way to remind myself my experiences over the years. These videos are part journal, part noise, and I hope to one day have at least some interesting content that resonates with at least one other human being out there. Hopefully!

I hate when a customer comes says "give me something fun" then if I don't give them anything... my whole things on table gets messy.. idk what to give him
I think I got lucky once, then messed it up the second time, but there are quite a few things i the game that need some form of explanation before release. Hopefully, this is one of those.
Me thinks this wont be a very good game.
If it stays as it is, it probably won't be worth more than like 3.99. Really depends on how early this demo is in development time. But with improvements, this game could be really good.
@@wakasm I did like what I played, but it feels really barebones atm.
@@Hinarcia I totally get that. If you know any other games in this Genre, let me know, I'd love to play them.
I didn't notice the phone for this entire playthrough lol... oops.
dude the weeping stone plushie is literally on the upper left corner😅😭
@@nilla4954 Trust me, I was weeping when I noticed it. It's in the name!
Good game! Love Dungeon Pages, such a brilliant concept. Keep the videos coming man!
Thanks! More to come! I'm trying to prep myself for the eventual campaign version they are releasing.
This is an absolute gem of a game! Hope to see more plays! Kreel Manor improves the system but also adds lots of stuff so Veilwraith is still a very sleek design!
I have Kreel waiting on me on the shelf. I've played the first 5 scenarios Veilwraith (not all are uploaded yet as I had to take a month break of uploads) and I'm not 100% sure how I feel on it yet. I'll probably try out Kreel soon, and see if that replaces this or not.
@@wakasm absolutely! Take your time and enjoy mate!
I am yelling at my screen! That means I am enjoying your video. We play so very differently (the poker hand is very much the last in priority, for me). I almost always avoid the Badlands and always try to dig all the way to the bottom of the mine, especially after a a certain Chapter in Lone Gun. Also, I really think the physical game is vastly superior to a video game version. The drama of slowly revealing cards is thematic. See all the fantastic art at all times is great. Wearing a cowboy hat helps too (I am kidding)...
Haha, if it works it works! I usually hate the badlands, I've only been doing it in an attempt to ensure a free action but it probably set me behind. I bought the original print and play before the physical copy was a thing, hence why I am used to this method. But always appreciate someone watching. Can't wait to see future chapters items for whatever is alluring you to the mine.
@@wakasm I have been able to get at least 1 Legendary Point per chapter so far, up to Chapter 10 (on Normal Mode, no Texas Hold 'Em).
Those Jacks sure came up a lot in the game! Nice job getting another Legendary Point!
I did something to anger the Jack gods for sure!
u gonna play more or not worth?
I actually have a few more recorded already, I just didn't get a chance to upload them. But I can prioritize that next week. I took like a 2 month break for another freelance project (and the latest Path of Exile league). Kreel Manor showed up so I might try that once before I record again just to get a feel if it's a huge improvement before deciding which to keep going with.
I did mess up the score at the end, which I fix in the next video. (I did end up deducting more points for the Mine Bonus thinking I gave it to myself). Any other mistakes? Let me know! There is probably at least 2 others I didn't catch, statistically speaking! (And if you could subscribe and help me on my road to 300 subscribers, that'd be pretty neat, no pressure!). Also, I keep making the mental mistake of calling this the Long Gunman. Despite the name not being that (sorry!)
Where did you get your small card sleeves from? For the relics, potions, etc.
like 14 years ago I purchased a ton of sleeves from a warehouse of all kinds on a heavy discount. The Euro Mini sleeves I had from that purchase were the mayday Euro premium ones from that purchase already. But you can look up on BGG under the "sleeves" section and I think most of the modern ones are called Everdell sleeves, which you can find probably on amazon or elsewhere.
Great job! Thank you! 😊
Thank you too!
You are playing 2 handed not true solo. Did you choose that for a reason? Love the video.
I tend to play two-handed more than true solo in most games unless the true solo is really good or as balanced. Specifically for Leviathan Wilds though, the true solo rules aren't as good (IMO) as the two-handed, and for the most part, playing two handed doesn't have that much overhead compared to the true-solo variant.
Great playthrough! I did notice a couple mistakes on the turn that starts at 26:14 (round 11, I think?): 1. You only paid one fox, but should have paid two after discounting one bear, one fox and one hawk 2. The bonus for completing the top row of environments is an extra habitat, not a wild animal
The "pay 2 tokens, get discount of 3 animals" mistake reared its head a couple more times. Math! :)
I can't fix Math! (I guess I could if I went slower) lol. Yeah, even with my best intentions I always make rules mistakes. Luckily, I believe at least in this case, they are human error related and not "I totally got this rule wrong" related which are always the more shameful ones for me. But people pointing it out (with timestamps even!) are always super helpful, because it usually means on future plays, I remember to look out for those mistakes. Thank you for the feedback and comments! It means more than you think!
What software are you using?
I'm just using a graphics editor, along with a java app to help with the digital cards layout and dice (in this case, playingcards.io), and OBS to record and organize everything. For other games I just use a dice app instead, but games with cards, that platform works pretty well.
Though a cool concept (as are many of Eric Reuss' ideas), Vengeance of the Dead is widely viewed by the "community" as one of the worst major powers in the game. At 1:35:00, I think you did the Xenophobia event correctly. 1:45:54: Scapegoats Level III is powerful! 1:47:39: I can't quite remember when you had the fear card that reduced health for all pieces with Strife, but I think it was in a prior turn, so that fear card effect expires during Time Passes. 1:58:37 it looks like you left one fear token up top, and gave yourself the fear card early. Overall, you didn't make any major mistakes, and the camera work was fine, though you did occasionally leave the boards offscreen. It must be a lot to keep track of at the same time to play two spirits, narrate, and change camera zooms!
It's even more difficult when it's your second solo game of Spirit Island. But again, all of this is appreciated. Small streamer is small so I can only provide many thank yous for the feedback atm. I have to give the game back Monday (I can borrow it again in the future) so trying to get one or two more plays, going to try a slightly harder difficulty (And likely perish).
@@wakasm I hope you eventually get your own set of core game and all expansions. It's only like, what, $850? 🤑There is a lot of variety to work through, but I'm always interested to see a well-thought-out and narrated game played, and it's more satisfying watching a well-shot "live" game instead of a screen grab of the digital version of the game, or Table Top Simulator. So I'm sure there are more out there who appreciate your efforts in that regard.
Continuing my slow viewing of the game...at 1:18:30 for Beasts Attack, you forgot the beasts in the jungle on Green's board. It should have destroyed the town there and then have been removed. You must perform the Reckless Offensive Event on one land on every board, if there are at least two Dahan and two buildings in any one land. Any added blight destroys presence in that land, unless otherwise specified on the card or if affected by a spirit's special rule. Base Game rulebook, page 15.
Yeah, I learned that any blight kills your presence after this game, I forgot that this happened in this game though. Cruel world. I was feeling good that I had no major mistakes, but this one feels like a pretty big one.
@@wakasm And you realized at 1:24:58 that you forgot that beasts...I guess I should save my sniping comments until I've watched the whole video.
At 37:44, I wouldn't be consistent in my pedantry if I neglected to point out that the card is "Gift of CONSTANCY", not "consistency."
your pedantry is most welcome. it definitely helps me learn if I misplayed anything, or how I speak lol.
At 38:51, after using Stem the Flow of Fresh Water correctly to damage both buildings in the land at range 1 from your Sacred Site, you used Creepers Tear into Mortar (A Spread of Rampant Green's left innate power) at a range of 1 from your presence, but it needs to target at range zero, where you have presence. You did not have presence there. You WERE cheating! :-)
The first Event card should be flipped over, but not executed. Jagged Earth rulebook page 12.
An interesting rule I didn't know. I haven't played against France yet, which seems to be why this rule is added, so that makes sense now that I look up what their special powers are. If this is my worst rules mistake, I feel pretty good! (I assume there are more lol)
@@wakasm I think the first Event can also have an unusually powerful effect on the board state and make the game "swingy," which is another reason for having that skip instruction. Don't sweat rules mistakes--it's a complicated game, but lots of fun.
I expect rules mistakes, lay them on me!
thanx for the gameplay ! you can play skill card before swift trigger, in fact at anytime even when falling :) acording to BGG forum.
That's good to know! Overall the rules have been pretty straight forward but timing for things in games can always feel weird. And no problem!
Thanks for doing these Leviathan Wilds playthroughs I just picked this one up and can't get enough plays and content! Hope to see more in the future
Thanks! There definitely will be more. I have a couple recorded already, I just haven't had the time to sort through them and upload them, but soon™
Large Slime has 12 HP.,not 19HP
Yeah I realized that later, oops, luckily, I didn't die. (I also agree about the Dagger Spray vs Deadly Poison, even in the real game, I tend to go with dagger builds, I just wanted to try poison int he physical game since I hadn't tried it yet).
The thing is you can't really decide what you would like to try today in slay the Spire. You have to the take what the game offers you. Deadly Poison is a really bad card. @@wakasm
Deadly Poison is way worse than Dagger Spray in almost every way.
I would never have thought that you could play boardgames on your own, but you learn something new every day. Unfortunately I can't watch the whole video but it looks like a cool game
Solo gaming is on the rise! Check out the soloboardgaming subreddit or one player guild if you are curious. But thanks for watching however long you did! It helps!
Thanks for the playthrough. I appreciate the zoomed view of cards when you get a reward and talking through the reasoning when you selected and skipped cards!
The feedback means a lot! Thank you!
Mate this is awesome! Well done!
He said "Thank you!" then ran off to tell everyone lol. Yyou made his day, my son loves comments about the video.
What a great assistant! So helpful!
He said "Thanks for that reply!" then giggled off.
Great game. I’m really enjoying it. Multiplayer is really a different experience if you ever get a chance. A few notes from your game: -Ethereal: EE-thir-ee-ul -Flechettes: Flesh-ets -For the event where you gain a card reward from another character’s deck, you don’t pick any card, you treat it like any other card reward and deal 3 cards and choose 1.
Doh, I knew I would get something wrong. Oh well, I don't think it changed the final outcome, but also, lol, thanks for the pronunciation. I cringe at myself not knowing how to pronounce things.
He come to town, come to save, the princess Zelda
Ganon took her away; Now the children don't play. But they will when Link saves the day! Hallelujah!
Great Job! Such a professional assistant!
How lucky you are, to have such a wonderful unboxing assistant!
Thanks so much. He read the comment and immediately said - "oh that's Debbie Ohio!" as if you both were best friends lol. So we are still working on some reading words, but he was very excited for the feedback. Your channel looks like a good fit for him, so we subscribed!
@@wakasm Please say hi for me! (*waves*)
This was the best unboxing video I have ever seen! Very informative and the best unboxing team I've seen. Keep it up guys!
What a great unboxing assistant to have for your video! I love punching the tokens for my games, too. Thanks so much for reading those tokens for me and showing me how they go in the tray
photoshop? lol I love your commitment.
Haha, yeah, it was a mistake, although I did end up scripting some of it using photoshops scripting tools... so it wasn't all that bad, until I maxed out my computers memory and got "you've used too many layers". Then I realized I could have done that a bit more optimally. And next time, I'll likely just do some simple html/database/js to solve this problem.
Woo another Deep Space D6 play!!!
What was the digital version you were playing?
It's just the print and play version while using a graphics editor. For the cards, I was just using a playing cards app that allows you to import card faces and set up piles and hands in a browser.
When dealing damage to enemies, can't you use diagonal spaces to hurt them? The rules only specify adjacent for collecting loot.
No, you cannot. From the rulebook under the monsters section: "Attack a monster by marking a space orthogonally adjacent..." On page 4.
Thanks, I will need to start playing that was
This is completely unrelated but I don't know how to ask you outside of one of your videos: do you have, or could you show off Spirit Island?
I don't own Spirit Island since I have a friend who owns everything for it and generally play his copy. I can borrow it though and do a solo session at some point!
@@wakasm that'd be great! I've yet to win a game with the easy settings enabled (iPad), though I'm thinking its mainly because I don't know the finer points of rules (eg, placing blight on a land with blight caused more blight).
Nice work on the round! Thanks for putting this together and posting!
Thanks! The feedback means a lot, more than you'd think!
Thanks for sharing your adventures. I'm going to get the core set and give it a go. I'm a huge sudoku and paper dungeon delve fan so this hits all the buttons
Glad they were helpful! They can be very zen like in the same way soduku is, especially when a plan goes the way it's supposed to.
Thanks for another playthrough of Fliptown! (Side note, you forgot to give Annie +5 points for playing with a character card.)
Doh, I even preset my scoring as a reminder, then get so focused on the outskirts scoring lol. I need one of those "000 Days since last rules mistake" type boards when I play lol. Thanks though for the feedback and watching! I'll update my score sheet then since I believe ties go to Cowbots!
I watched the first half last night, then listened to the next quarter on headphones while falling asleep. *I* found it interesting, but this morning thought it might be a good candidate for one of those sleep stories podcasts. 1:02:00 I did a double take when you zoomed in to get an upgrade and had all your health! Was I really that asleep? no, just zooming on a different sheet. it was funny. 1:11:53 getting the last checkpoint from the west (stern!), but you already had a path to the checkpoint from the bow side. The rules say you "may not ignore a non-sequential path". Which almost sounds like you *could* ignore a sequential path, perhaps to get lower time? Yours were both time=4. And the rest of that rule says "Once the path is formed, it is evaluated at the end of that turn." so I guess no loophole for later lower times. I'm overanalyzing and having fun. I've also marked the top right non-corridor space several times. So easy to miss that.
You can overanalyze all you want! Glad these are useful for someone lol. I've been sick so my last few videos have a lot of coughing in them, hopefully that doesn't effect any sleep stuff. But yeah, I learn as I play, so you'll see more rules mistakes in earlier episodes than newer ones. I'm trying to get better with that.
Great game. You definitely got very lucky in the big room. Some notes while watching: 1. If you re-roll an evil die during your active phase you do not risk re-activating enemies. That only occurs at the start of the round. 2. At 37:20 You jumped across the enemy’s entire Dangerous Space. Even though you entered it earlier, you can’t jump across from a different direction. You actually justify the jump at 1:02:19 but it is wrong. You can move within and out of Dangerous Spaces without being hindered, but just because you were in the Space before doesn’t nullify moving across it later if you don’t have movement range from the previous area you marked inside the Space. 3. The skill to reroll and reuse a dice after attack is how I survived the boss level. It can be very powerful so I would emphasize not forgetting that skill in the future!
You usually know best when it comes to the rules, but I'll have to look into the discord to see since: "If you are already in a connected group of dangerous spaces you may move within it without being hindered". I interpret that as, once you are in it, you can move within it unhindered since there isn't much about borders of spaces in this game, just the spaces themselves... , and since there is no memory of the different numbers and when they were placed, you could do that, but it's likely you are right. Luckily it's another case where I don't think the final outcome would change but I'll have to see if they have clarified this anywhere or not. Even when I think I have no rules mistakes, I have rules mistakes lol.
I really enjoyed the play through. It was good for both learning and review. I like to learn by checking my understanding during each move. Here are a few things I noticed that didn’t seem quite right. 29:24 After sacrificing a 1 to Shield damage, was the 1 still available to be re-rolled via Ammo? 56:42 Missed a React Check after placing the 5 two spaces west of the VH? My biggest learn: I’ve been taking 1 point of damage when I attack the Vigilant Hunter with a 6 - rather than take 1 point of damage during threat activation. So much to learn.
Hi, thanks for the feedback, it helps more than you think! As far as I am aware, yes, Ammo can be used, there is no requirement to use it a certain way, ammo just states - "Reroll an activated Good Die and reuse it this turn". So since I used it for defense, that's a perfect case to reuse it for Ammo! (I feel 95% confident on this but the PNP discord is a great place to ask) Good Catch! I did forget to do the react check at 56:42. This game has a weird late-game problem (with how my mind works) in that once I feel like I am going to win by a good margin, it's easy to slip into a "play loose and fast" mode which sometimes means I make a mistake (oops!). I don't do this intentionally, but I've noticed I do that a lot, when recording, because in the back of my mind I'm always trying to play faster for the sake of video length as I feel like I'm a slower player when recording. But certainly a good catch! Glad I was able to help you learn some rules. There are cases I'm still learning myself because there are a ton of abilities I haven't seen yet in this game!
Thanks for the clarifications. I realized pointing out the missed reaction check wasn't needed.... you performed the check regularly so not an interesting rules question. I'm enjoying your journey through dangerous spaces.
What's your setup for playing this on a screenshare? Is there an online UI for this game?
Just a graphic editor (gimp, Photoshop) and for the cards I am using playing cards io.
Some thoughts on other content: Since you have a few print & play roll and writes, maybe talk about where you find them. What you look for. What you have played and enjoyed--even if you aren't going to stream them. There are usually a dozen roll & writes on Kickstarter every week, plus new games every week on PnPArcade. I'd love to see someone highlighting more of these games if that is also something you are interested in.
Noted! I enjoy roll and writes for sure, but I'm not super great at keeping up with them in terms of new-hotness. Some have more complicated parts to replicate digitally (I'm not hugely into actual printing and playing them often). There are also some that feel like cash grabs and I haven't quite figured out how to filter through them, although maybe I just try them all. I have a short list of games to go through, like Welcome to the Moon and Twilight Struggle, but maybe I should also just start book marking new ones.
Enjoyed the playthrough! Keep it up!
Great game. I didn't see any major errors. If you want a hard mission, every level in March has been a step up from the previous months and core missions. It was hard enough they had to revise week 1 of March because it was too difficult!
Yeah, someone messaged me on discord (I don't think it was you) to play one of the harder ones, so I'll likely skip to one of those on my next play. I'll post it win or lose!
One rule I don't think I kept consistent is that whichever character is the 1st player should be getting rewards from events (although I think in most cases, you can still just give them away in the prep phase). I definitely forgot some things, but corrected most of in mid-play. Either way - feel free to let me know if I made any rules mistakes, if you liked it, or if you want to support me, give me a subscribe! Thanks again!
