Compilation of Hiji-shime / 肘締め, Elbow Lock in Aikido and Judo
I collected the footage of Hiji-shime / 肘締め, Elbow Lock performed by Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of Aikido, and his apprentices including Morihiro Saito, Gozo Shioda as well as Elbow Lock techniques in Kodokan Judo. It is said that Elbow Lock techniques in Judo were supervised by Kenji Tomiki, the founder of Tomiki Aikido. He held an eighth Dan both in Aikido and Judo.
In the technique, Shite fixes Uke’s elbow between Shite’s elbow and chest, and applies power against the elbow joint in the direction in which Uke can’t bend by turning its hip in a circular movement, thereby controlling the Uke.

Applying Jujitsu to the real attacks, knife attacks to the head, No1

I was wondering if the techniques we practice in Aikido, for coping with the opponents striking the head or neck with a knife are needed or not in the real knife attacks. I found that they may increase chances of survival in case because some footages caught on the security camera show that killers or robbers brutally tried to strike to the head with a knife. Aikido is one of Jujitsu developed ...

although they look very similar here, the pricinple of Yoshinkan and (most ) aikikai and others is different. Yoshinkan locks the wrist using the inner hand (with thumb on the back of the hand, as normal) but instead of focussing on twisting the wrist to Ukes Outside, the other hand palm is used on the back of ukes hand and fingers to close Ukes hand, extending the back of the hand, and closing the wrist joint down and towards Uke very near to the outside of the elbow in a small circle (as clear in the video). This way the tendons down the back of the hand and wrist are stretched, causing control through pain, and actually normally preventing a Maemawari ukemi to release the lock; the point is to control the 'opponent' (in real situations). Other methods (incl jujitsu) use the same first hand grip, which is then strengthened / supported by the second hand, and then the wrist twisted down (sure...) but also to Ukes outer side, locking the wrist joint, and elbow joint, and up into the shoulder joint- for a more solid and less painful lock,(unless applied hard in which case the joints give way), to take control of the bodyweight. and thus an easy way to maeukemi also. Jujitsu starts the same , but then drops the locked wrist fast inwards and towards the floor, the idea being to break it and leave (for multiple attackers).
