Learning Guitar- Day 1
Просмотров 12319 часов назад
I learned to play in high school but not at any advanced level. I was always interested in getting back into it, but I didn't. It's time to give it an honest effort and start off like all beginners, badly, and lots of work to do. I am learning because I want to play music for my child and wife and enjoy my time in this world.

    It doesn’t matter if you used to play or not (Considering the time gap), playing after 25 years and being this good on the first day is absolutely amazing!

    On the late night of August 30, 1973, we were being ordered onto gray U.S. Navy busses and two uniformed sailors diddlybopped by. One casually asked us: "Are you guys Navy or Marines?" One of us responded: "Marines!" The sailors both replied, in unison, like schoolgirls: "You'll be sor-ree!" I have remembered that scene, countless times in my life since then, over the decades since.

    in case you are wondering why he is placing the buckle on the belt as he is doing the slide through part, its very simple, its so that it doesn't get scratched as he is doing this. if you find it difficult to do you can use a piece of soft cloth and still use these steps.

    Every recruit here that had on a Marine Corps T Shirt owes this Drill Instructor their lives for making them turn their shirts inside out. When I went to boot camp in 1988, those guys caught living hell (even worse than usual) by the receiving DIs until we were issued our cammies. God help those recruits that already had Marine tattoos. Those guys REALLY earned those tattoos if they made it through boot camp.

    Do people actually take these drill sergeants seriously? I'd probably bust out laughing. Why do people volunteer themselves for this? You can't quit, you get paid terrible salary, the job is dangerous, you get yelled at like a child consistently...

      Would you rather not have a military?

    • @landonp629
      @landonp629 Год назад

      @@johnecker Of course we need a military - my point isn't that a military is bad - it's that the way in which I see ours is kind of funny. People are paid $18,000 a year to go get yelled at like a child for 8-12 weeks (does this actually do anything?), then get a small raise to go off and fight in a war. IF you are lucky enough to come back unscathed at all, yes they will give you housing loans and schools loans and grants - and if you stick around long enough you might get the chance to fight for care at the VA hospital... They need to be paid better, have better healthcare, about receive better training than simply someone yelling at you for 8-12 weeks. Yelling accomplishes nothing, and so much more could be gained by treating recruits like humans.

    I watched an army basic day 1 video where the drill sergeant explained the position of attention by saying “it should look something like this.” There is a definite difference between what we see here and “something like this.” These young people are at the airport for gods sake. They are loud, standing in formation covered and aligned and their bodies are locked. They ain’t even on the bus yet.
