My Hero Academia's spines fuck me up as well. Not because of the smogasboard of colors, which are not present in Japan's spines (which are all white and consistent). But the fact that Viz LOVES TO SPAM WHITE SPINES! RIGHT NOW IN THE MANGA, THEY HAVE A WHITE SPINE, COLOR, WHITE, COLOR IT MAKES ME SO MAD WHEN I LOOK AT MY OWN WEEB SHELF MEANWHILE IN MY COUNTRY'S DUB OF THE MANGA, IT'S ALL WHITE AS WELL SO IT'S NICER TO LOOK AT AAAAAGGHHHH. Anyways, if I had to throw my two cents in for cool spines...mmm, I like Seven Deadly Sins' for the big art that forms throughout the spines. I also like Shaman King's omnibus for being simple and featuring a full drawing of a character. Haikyu's individual volumes also look very cool, with all the players running to spike and it ending on Adult Hinata mid jump (my only issue is that many of these players are nobodies from the various teams and we don't have many other star players out of the main team's prefecture). And I also like Soul Eater Perfect Edition, for that sleek, cool and urban black and yellow, reminiscent of the Moon of its universe.
