    the hook of this song might be his most moving. it's just a perfect combination of every element -- melody, chord, lyric, instrumentation, all of it. i love that he knew it would be so memorable/singable that it he repeated it so often. psychedelic lyrics sung so phonically abstract... man! the whole song still gives me chills, and i first heard it 50 years ago.

      haha, I know right? The Beatles were singing some weird shit then too. We just kinda accept it as them nowadays...was masked by some of the tunes that had timeless lyrics that hit HARD. Catch the Wind is timeless though.

    I was introduced to Donovan's music with this song. I was immediately a fan from 1968 and I have been ever since. He was brought to visit my painter's studio in 2010, wonderful artist, beautiful soul. ❤❤❤

    I love the song but it’s funny that in the video the lady seems to be playing a flute, then it’s a recorder. Harold McNair played the actual flute in the recording and sounds amazing.

      The lady is none other than Jenny Boyd, Patti Boyd's sister and future wife of Mick Fleetwood. Not long after this was filmed, Donovan wrote the song "Jennifer Juniper" about her. What I want to know is who the charming elf-like fellow is!

      This music and filmed material was recorded, during autumn 1967 in Britain, many months before Donovan travelled to India with The Beatles in February 1968 to learn more of transcendental meditation from the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi at the ashram.

      @@Hapslein-Skoog Thanks so much great find…I love Donovan I saw him twice when 18 then my Hub took me a second time for my 50th …our Daughter is Saffron and she is beautiful…22 last Friday 5th January…too cold and dark to go out…we had a lovely time at home with us and elder brother Alfie and with family. We had her 21st party last year and her fiancés little sisters 18th we shared it was brilliant. But not until the end of January…the light was back a bit by then. It was a lovely event weather wise also . Perfect birthdays. 🎊

    I remember this very well. It hardly went above freezing for three months.nearly everybody’s water pipes burst. It used to be climate cooling but now they just call it climate change! These fools have no idea whether the earth is cooling or warming. It takes 10.000 years to know if there’s been climate change.
