Motorbike racing history classic racing . I am making movies of people that make it happen e.g. building racing motorbikes or cars or even boy racers in their garage . These people that can finish their project have something special about them .
Dunstall Norton 1969 Drainpipe
In 1969 Paul Dunstall built the Drainpipe . The name came from it's unique design .
Ray Pickerell rode it . There are very few if any other copies of this bike . Our man Pit commissioned Ray Breingan to build an exact replica of the frame tank and seat . This is what evolved after one years work .

In 1961 The Norton racing department made the Lowboy Racer . Based on the Dominator 500cc twin in a similar but lower frame than the Manx . Ray Breingan from New Zealand now makes the replica frame kits . His bike is very fast as you can see in the video . Last race in the open classic series 2007-8 New Zealand . Jamie Galway rider . Norton Atlas motor 6 speed gearbox 1961 Norton Lowboy replica motorbike .
I would have liked a bit more of a look at the bike. My Lowboy replica runs a Boyer Bransden electronic ignition, a Schafleitner 5 speed box, handed monoblocs, high compression pistons, Thunder Engineering alloy rods and a heavily lightened valve train.
Not dissimilar to the Norton that the late Ken Redfern was successful on.
Take my hat off to you ‘I recently built a domi racer using a 650ss see how it goes might try get old of 88 be in touch boys need few tips hey specially I’m running std 4 speed changed engine and gearbox sprockets have cos standard rear hub , verenjoyable watch
That is a standard Manx rear hub as fitted to the factory Lowboy Domiracer. I use split sprockets but to be honest it's as quick to take the wheel out. As I run a belt drive it's easier, when necessary, to just change the engine pulley.
What a blasted video, not one good look at the bikes.
BikerForce..Oh NO h h h ,..I Don't Belived ,..The '61s ,..AH Ha a a !?!
The same look I have when I look at my Commando 😊 ....
320 lbs. Of Norton Sex. He'd rightfully proud 👍✌️🇺🇲
hi is the motor original i.e the 750 Atlas ?. if so canting the engine may require Jim Schmidtz ideas on relocating holes in the timing chest for improved oiling. D.
Running on methanol is a good idea, are you using Castrol R oil as well. We used to buy loads of tuning parts from Dunstalls shop in Eltham South London. He had some nice Domiracers in the shop
you can smell the oil , nearly .
Geil, geiler am geilsten !!
Sounds like you boys downunder are not hampered by noise limits- you got open megas?
Gilera
Hi Are these frames still available? Regards Rob
Was at Pukehoe in February 2002. What a fantastic day. Geez was it hot !! You Kiwis sure know how to do it.
Hey Dude nice Flick, is this bike a Ray Breingan bike. I know he makes the kit set in Gisborne New Zealand, Ray Breingan invented the Suzuki GSXR he made the first XR69 platform in 1978 for Croz the Croz Crosby.
My God! That #515 sounds good!
Bobs just won the "Best of British" cup. And he's wrapped. He prepares my road cafe Commando
Cassoulet
@TheTater1984 What's a "me too"?
that is one very angry parallel twin
Nice there Pit Must have the whole collection by Now
Awesome sounding bike. Would love to see some more from this. Is it a 750?
so great
bravo pour cette eternelle jeunesse...
@acotrel1 Thanks for the the comment . You are up with the play . A lot has happened since I posted this video . Pit crashed and got run over at a race . He's OK but not up to racing for a while . Ray the frame builder not in good health for the last year how ever he is wanting to get back into it and yes that offset he altered on the next frame .Unfortunately the first frame won't allow for it . Wheel touches motor .
I note the Arces fork yokes are being used. What is the head angle.? If it's 27 degrees the bike will stand up as you back off. - Too much offset!
The Seeley 850 Commando shown in the Australian Thunderbikes video is mine.
@worldwar2madman Got that right! not much better than a good norton
Nice Job. :)
It's an early Joe Hunt mag. Thanks for showing interest .
ahah u americans like our British classics then!
you are right they do not bring the woman wifes on thise bikes, they may fall apart, but it is a hobby to see an old piece going back to a beuatiful looking piece, my husband does up classic bikes, if he got a new one he may bring me
Please post another one!
Wow!, Can he make me a frame like that for mine? What about balance factor?
Good snap on that throttle! great livery.
Yes lets see some revving rides lad! it's just sculpture if it sits still. Though Kiwiland means only using 1st and second and your across the island or in the jungle fast.
does it sound as good as it looks?
