Snowblower Discharge Chute Power Mod
I bought a Toro gas trimmer several years ago and it still runs like new. The overall build quality is very good. I like to stay with brand name products mainly so that I can hopefully buy parts when needed. I have been looking at the Ryobi line, but based on what I am hearing with respect to quality, I think that I will look at a Toro.
thanks, I couldn't find a video on how to change a rubber band. Everything is clear to you!
@@Сергей-ж3ъ2в I’m glad it helped you!
Thinking of getting a used one. How do you feel about the steel auger? My gas Toro has the rubber paddles, surprised to see this has steel. I _think_ one can add the paddles later?
Just installed mine and got stuck on where the rubber tape went, thanks to your video i got it sorted out. Mine ended up costing 350$ and it took about 2 months since they were on backorder. Thanks again
@@intensivefire happy to hear my silly videos helped someone!! lol Enjoy the bike. I love the look of the bike with the crash bars!! Thanks for watching and thanks for commenting. A new video soon to drop about pickup up the bike and my additions to it.
A little late to comment here but I own a ryobi lawm mower that had same issues as your snow blower. The problem is the switches ryobi uses. They are super cheap and go bad really quickly. You can take the handle apart and get a switch from the electronics store for about 5$ I am going to purchase that blower you have with the intention that it will fail one day but I'll know how to fix it. Shame on ryobi!
@@pcho8022 thanks for leaving your comment. I agree. I found information online about the proximity switch in the handlebars on the lawnmowers. If the snowblower wasn’t new, I would have replaced or bypassed the switch system. But it’s new and I should have to do that. I ended up buying Toro and haven’t had a single issue with that unit. It was definitely worth the extra money. I made a video about that snowblower if you want to search for it in my channel. Thanks again for your comment!!
@@GeoSphere you would think that Ryobi would learn from the bad batches and eventually release units with updated hardware. I own a hedge trimmer from them that just died one season with very light use. Unfortunately i'm one of the people that invested in their batteries and tools so I have quite a bit of products from them. The drills and impact wrenches seem to be quite decent. I'll check out your Toro blower video later. Cheers
great videos by the way! i like your editing and no wasted time on talking about BS!
@@pcho8022thanks so much That! I try hard to make the videos interesting and to the point. Cheers!!
Can hardly believe that samsquatch was right there….. nice catch.
Dunno where your at, but see ya there! Just got the bike. Loving it!
@@nigelcaudill451 thanks for the comment! It’s a fun bike! Enjoy it!!
Great video! Thanks for posting! I just bought a 'new' 2022 Adventura 650 and want to install bumper/crashbars/engine guards. I'm assuming from what I've seen that the CFMoto kit is probably the best option. I saw some on AliExpress, but with the shipping they are about the same price and I'm not sure if they will fit anyway. Do you know if there are any aftermarket kits, or is the CFMoto part the only/best way to go? Thanks.
Hi! Thanks for watching the video and for leaving a comment!!! In my opinion and for the reasons you mentioned about the time and cost of shipping from AliExpress, I felt the factory crash bars were the best option. To the best of my knowledge, the only two options are options are AliExpress and Factory. I hope that helps. Enjoy your bike!! Thanks for being part of the discussion!!
@@GeoSphere Thanks for your feedback and reply. It seems to be hit and miss on aftermarket accessories to fit the bike. Luckily the bike is pretty well fitted out. I may have more questions for you as I ride and learn more about my bike. Thanks again!
You seem to be responding to your comments...No one is asking the golden question! How much was the kit? I know it's a question most people like to shy away from, but I'd really like to know please. Thanks!
Thanks for watching the video and leaving a comment! I didn’t mention the price as it differs from country to country and for some people it’s worth having them regardless of the price. They can be found cheaper on AliExpress but my factory Crashbars from my dealer was $427.37 cdn before GST. That was last year so now….???? If you are thinking of buying some, here is the factory part name and number cut Ana pasted from an email from my dealership at the time. 6NT1-250000-0BP00 FRONT BUMPER $427.37. Thanks again, and happy riding!!
That music though, bro wtf ?
Finding the right music for these videos is, for me, the hardest part of making these videos. People have such diverse tastes. Some people don’t mind it, sometimes not. As in this one. Thanks for your comment, I’ll work harder on the next one to find better music. lol
your crash bar kit is very different than mine.
I’ve noticed the bars available from AliExpress are very different to the factory ones that come stock on the European/Australasian 650MT variants and the ones I installed. But if they all do the same job, I’m happy. 😊 Are yours from Ali??
@@GeoSphere Yes, they are. The mounting was a bit tough. There were no instructions and I had to use a file to fix some slight fit issues, but overall it seems very solid.
I love the KLIM gear. I have the induction coat and pants are on the way. I want back and forth on the gloves. How do you like the gloves?
I love my Klim gear! As for the gloves, very comfortable. I had to get a second pair as the first pair, I ordered too large. I had to size down. Which is unusual for me and gloves.
Thanks for the video!
You're welcome! It was fun to make and run!
Thanks! You made it look like a very approachable project. I am looking to purchase a 650 Adventura soon.
Thanks!! It’s a great little bike!! I absolutely love mine. As for the project, the crash bars add a great look (or so I think) as well add that extra layer of protection for when, if you like to throw the bike around alittle, you ultimately lay it down. Hopefully at low speeds.
It's a great all around bike! You won't regret it!
this is a well done review! great job! very informative and well thought out
Thanks very much for your comment and compliment! I really appreciate it. I don’t do “review” videos but I enjoyed making this one and sharing my experience with the snowblower. Maybe I’ll try making another with the next product/tool I find myself needing for around the house or garden. Cheers!
Very good review. I bought this same Toro almost two years ago and def some pros and cons. I do like how much steel and quality materials used (steel auger blades, rubber tires , strong durable plastic where plastic is used) ; especially in comparison to some other battery snowblowers. Even the lesser quality ones from Toro i saw some with plastic augers (not sure if Toro discontinued those since i bought this one). I agree the battery life / run time is very good. I have other Toro tools who use the same batteries which is one of the better selling points , to have extra batteries on hand as needed ; though only once have i ever needed to use a spare battery from another Toro tool. I also like due to its being lighter weight i can carry it to walks / paths i never could with other units. I have a commercial Ariens 28 inch gas snowblower that i use most of the time but i bought this as a backup. Thats mainly what this has turned into for me , a spare / backup. My cons with this unit , its mainly for 5-7 inches of very powdery snow or less imo ; anytime i tried it with wetter heavier snow just didn't perform well. And generally doesn't throw snow very far in my experience (not that i expected it would). I live in a woodsy part of northwestern NJ and we tend to get wet heavier snow most often. If you live in an area that gets frequent storms of mostly powdery snow this battery Toro probably more ideal. Also found in the heavier / wetter snow the lack of being self propelled can be a little rough on your back using this machine. The scraper bar is also an ongoing maintenance concern but not expensive or difficult to replace. I'd say its perfect for smaller amounts of powdery snow and ideally more of a backup / spare snowblower.
Also do wish it had the ability to idle , though i believe most single stage battery snowblowers can't. A little tedious it always shuts down once you stop engaging the augers but probably in place for battery saving purposes.
Thanks for watching the video and especially for your comment!! You bring up some very valid points about its strengths and weaknesses!! I absolutely agree, this machine is a beast in dry powdery snow. In my part of the world, this is 99% of the time what we get. The other 1% is slightly less dry. Lol I’ve never had it in wet snow but I believe it would have to work very hard with that kind of snow. A single stage electric blower is not the best option for wet snow. Thanks again for you comment
@ere in a climate like yours its ideal , we tend to get a lot of snowstorms in borderline freezing temps in my area so quite often wet and heavy snow. But i have the large commercial gas 2 stage Ariens for that. This unit is such a good spare for me and got it on a Black Friday sale so saved a good amount to justify as more a backup unit. And whether the rare event I run out of gas or a smaller snow totals type storm where i can get by not using the gas unit (especially powdery snow) ; comes in very handy. Also the light weight is great to be able to carry onto walks / paths or on my deck which is impossible with most any other snowblower.
Great video! I am also a U.S. customer that was originally told I would be order this type of stuff when I bought it but CFMoto has decided to stop supporting the Adventura in the U.S. over the Ibex 800. I live in NY but close to Montreal so I am going to try now to find the part up near there. What tires do you have on your bike in this video? The stock tires on mine are basically street tires and I would love a slightly more aggressive tire for the trails. Thanks!
Update: using your part number, I was actually able to order this from my local U.S. CFMoto dealer. Totally boggled as to why CFMoto themselves told me that engine guards were not going to be available in the U.S. for the Adventura. Maybe they have no idea that their own part is called "Front Bumper" instead of "Engine Guard" or "Crash Bars". Thanks so much!
Hey there! Congratulations on the purchase of your bike!! I love mine but would love the 800 IBEX and their new 400 adventure bike as well. I’m very happy to hear you were able to get your “front, Bumper” from your own local dealership. A lot of US based views here have been curious if they could get them in the US so thanks for the confirmation!! As for the tires, I highly recommend the ones I’m using. The Shinko 705. I bought them online and had the dealership install them before I took delivery of the bike. They are fantastic on gravel as long as they are aired down to about 18-20 psi for gravel. But you DO NOT want to run them on pavement at speed at the pressure for more than a couple of miles. As well, with that low of pressure you have to be careful of what you ride over and with what force. You can crack or break the alloy wheels. Happy riding and thanks for leaving a comment!!
@@GeoSphereThanks for the info! Looking forward to the skid plate video.. until that comes out, do you have a part number for the skid plate? I can't find anything other than it the "Plastics" section so I am thinking that is not really the skid plate. Thanks!
The deal killer for me is the battery life is 3-4 years and a replacement battery ranges from $350-$400 US. I’ll stick with gasoline powered Toro that will cost way less to operate for min five years or even more.
Can I order these in the US? I looked on CFmoto canada site and cant find it.
I don’t know if they are available in the USA. The only way to get them In Canada is to go into a dealership, goto their parts counter and get the parts guy to order them using the part number in these comments as well found in the video description. If you live in the states, call a Canadian dealership, talk to their parts guy and get them to order. Maybe they could ship to you when it arrived? Good luck and thanks for the comment!!
@@GeoSphere thanks!! I just bought the bike yesterday but that's a must have on there
Fantastic!! Enjoy the bike! It’s an amazing little bike at its price point. I feel you will be very happy with it.
Amazing idea to trim it all down and mount the motor down by the chute!! Looks great!
Thanks for your reply (other video) and your recommendation on this snowblower
I bought the 40v 24" whisper model in November and had multiple issues the 1st time i used it. Emailed Ryobi with questions and they wanted me to send it in for their quick repair (like it was a drill or something). The next time i used it a few days later the same thing happened that you experienced with the auger (it was around 0 degrees out). I used it as a plow and just plowed my driveway at full speed since there wasnt a lot of snow and decided it wasnt worth it and im taking it back. Its warm out now and when i went to take it back i tried it and the auger works so something internal must be freezing because like yours i could manually turn the auger. Its getting returned for sure and i dont want to go back to gas unless i have to. So if anyone has had good luck with another battery snowblower please share
Thanks for your comment. I’m very sorry to hear about your issues. It’s sad that even a few years after my issues, people are still having these problems. As for another option, Here is a link to my video I made about my option. The Toro Cordless electric snowblower. ruclips.net/video/Fz7wR2T-g5Q/видео.htmlsi=2kDX-6uWChNwbTc6 I’ve had it over a year now. This winter, we haven’t had much snow so I haven’t been able to use it much, but it’s worked flawlessly.
Nice but the noise you call music
Nice to hear peoples' issues with stuff. As with most big box stores returning something isn't an issue however the travelling, and having to start all over assembling the thing is a total pain. I would have insisted on a rebate for all the wasted time. Apparently ryobi didn't test their product very well.
Thanks for your comment. It’s a shame that they have issues with their lawn and garden products. Ryobi stuff is normally very good. Thanks!!
1yr update on the Toro?
Hi! Thanks for leaving g a comment. Our winter so far, has been very very unseasonal and non existent until recently. We had a brown Christmas then only a couple centimeters of snow. So little, I swept the drive way with a broom. Then, with that snow, came the -40° temperatures. We’ve had 2 weeks of cold now. It’s finally warming up and we are getting some snow now that started last night and if forecast to continue today. It’s only forecast to be about 10 cms (about 4 inches). As for the TORO, I’ve used it once to blow some snow I piled up with the shovel, just to make sure it still worked! 🤣 I am very keen to make a 1 yr review video but Mother Nature isn’t helping. I do hope to get one out soon. Please check back in a few weeks.
@@GeoSphere Thanks for the response! Looking forward to your update!
Thanks for the part numbers. I made sure I ordered two brackets.
Thanks for leaving a comment!! Just so you know and to clarify, the P/N I provided was the Kit. It came with everything (except when the factory made the kit, someone forgot to put that second 1/2 shell clamp in the box. Lol) to install the bars.
The way mine was ordered the website gave me a bill of materials to verify. The clamp qty was defaulted to 1. I changed it to 2. What I’d like to find now is a seat upgrade for comfort.
Diagram: 2023 CFMoto 650 ADVentura CF650-3US - FRONT BUMPER(NORMAL) [F25-A-V2]
Ugh…. The heat insulator strips are on back order, i should see them in two weeks.. I’d like to find a substitute.. what are these strips made of and what’s the shape? Btw. The frame bars are nice. Good quality and beefy.
The tape was just a self adhesive rubber tape. I feel any type of rubber material would work. I believe it’s only purpose is to tighten the connection when camping it up. To prevent vibrations/fretting between the Crashbars and the frame that would cause the frame to get worn or damaged.
you must buy 2 batteries for this thing and get a long time with it. you do have to push pretty hard but i like it. i just bought it first time in use i got it all done before the battery died. but now i that i have a 2nd battery charged ill just use that one and then i can use it again. Pretty good for a small machine. i have not had a problem with it yet but i will update later on .
Thanks for your comment!! I truly hope you have no issues with it!
My Ryobi RST36B51 Snovblower, had a big failure today. It wont run constanly, and it stops when I push throu snow… The snowblower is 2 year and 10 day old today. So the wananty is out. The quality og Ryobi sems to be por. I can not recomend Ryobi. I saw you godt the Ryobi problem to times now.
Hello, i really enjoyed your video. I own a gas powered toro for 10 years and it ran great. I'm sick of gas/oil so i am considering this one. Do you still recommend it? Is it also good with heavy wet snow? Thank you!
Find a dealer .... ! I've given up on the big box stores exactly for those reasons .... They don't know you ..... they have no concern for your trouble. I go to a Toro / Honda dealer ..... If it comes out of the box wrong and it's not a difficult repair.... it's done ... easy ... If I buy something big and there's going to he a major delay , they usually have something to loan me until it's repaired.... They handle the paperwork...! They handle registering the warranties ...! Plus the price differences are either none to negligible.... There's lots to buy at a big box store, a snowblower isn't one of them ! 🤔
I'm 55 and just bought my first snowblower, a snowjoe sj625e. In my haste I didn't notice that I need a 2stage to clear my gravel driveway so I'm going to void it's warranty when I take it out of the box by modifying it with homemade skid shoes made from 1" pvc. When it craps out I'm going to go for a gas model for the simple reason that a gas model 2 stage can be had for less than an electric 2 stage and electric 2 stage models are scarce as hen's teeth.
Thanks for leaving a comment! You make good points. I love the idea of your homemade skid shoes. I’d love to see a video of your mods, if you get a chance!! Gas has had many many years to figure things out and they are a waaay cheaper price than their electric cordless counterparts if my driveway was larger and I had more storage I’d definitely have a gas unit. Likely a Honda tracked snowblower. But this Toro 60V, single stage is perfect for my little driveway. So far this year, we haven’t had any snow worth using a snowblower. Very unusual. Thanks again for your comment!!
perfect. Love your editing
Thank you very much!! Thanks for leaving that comment, I appreciate the feedback 😊
How long did you have the unit before you returned it
I had this model (I went through 2 units) from November to March. So, a total of 4 months.
Any issues with your Toro? Your experience with your Ryobi scared me a bit with electric snow blowers haha I am from YYC, so we get the same sort of snow as you. Btw, you are a natural presenter, and great editing as well.
Hi nickolastiguan! I love Ryobi tools, but they seem to be struggle if with quality control of parts or assembly with their yard/lawn and garden products. I expect they will get on top of that if they haven’t already. The Toro has been flawless for me. I’m really loving knowing it’s going to work every time. I lost that confidence with the Ryobi units. So far no problems with the Toro, but we have not had any snow this season. At least, nothing a broom can’t handle. So no chance to run the Toro snowblower yet this season.
great job on the review. Should do an update this winter. Cheers!
Absolutely. I hope to, but, it’s now the 8th of December and we have had no snow to speak of!! The long range forecasts doesn’t show any “snowblowerable” snow until the New Year!! But I’ll try to put together a quick follow up video. Thanks for your comment!!
the relay is broken, on the deadmans switch,
Hi Geo! Great video review. I really appreciated how you pointed out all of the finer points (rubber tires, use of steel and so on). Very informative indeed. Regarding the chute angle, have you thought about adding a small piece of bent aluminum to the top in order to get the snow moving in a downward direction? Thank you!
Thanks for leaving a comment Duncan! I have thought about your suggestion. I’ve also put some thought into removing some material in the slot (on either side) of the discharge chute to allow more down angle. Your suggestion might be a lot easier!! Thanks again for your comment and I appreciate the positive feedback on the video. For me, making these videos is all about learning video making, editing and storytelling. I have a lot of fun doing it and constantly push to make each one better than the last. Cheers!!!
My pleasure. You are certainly achieving your goal of delivering great content. I'm sub'd and look forward to seeing more of your videos. I had another idea for your chute deflector... How about cutting a piece of plastic bucket into a clamshell shape and trying that? Have a great weekend.@@GeoSphere
Thank you for making this video (and the previous one) about the Ryobi 40-volt snowblower. It just so happens I was looking at them as an alternative to a small gas snowblower to do our walkways. After seeing your experience, I'm going to stick with a small gas blower! Thanks again.
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!! I’m happy you were able to find some value in the video. I feel Ryobi makes good tools. Very good tools and distribution via the Home Depot is so convenient. However, sometimes manufacturers, in an effort to stay competitive and get products to market for us users, the quality of design and/or manufacture slips by on a small number of their product range. I feel this was the case with their snowblowers. I’m sure they have made changes and this year’s production run is much better than in previous seasons. For my needs I went with Toro’s 60v snowblower instead. I’m very pleased that I did. It’s a wonderful product. Maybe give it a look. I did a video & review about it. Check it out! Thanks again!!
Thanks again for the great review. I hope your RUclips journey works out. Your video was excellent in terms of format and content. Thanks again. @@GeoSphere
1yr later how is it doin' ? Just bought the 21" now waiting for snowfall 😊
Thanks for your question! Unfortunately, as explained in that video I wasn’t able to find a snowblower from Ryobi that would work reliably. I ended up returning the Ryobi snowblower at the end of the season for an in store credit. In the fall, about this time last year I bought the Toro 60v snowblower. It has work flawlessly for me. I made a video about buying it and using it and it bit of a Review video. Check it out on my channel. Thanks again for your comment!!
I own CFMOTO 650MT in India since July 2021 and its the same bike sold in the name of Adventura in the US..The crash bar came as standard along with handguards except that I had to install my own pannier setup..I have got a ton of info regarding tyres, suspension, aftermarket front and rear sprocket and aftermarket chain.. I've ridden my bike around 24k kms already and its a wonderful sports tourer.. congratulations..
@@tauseefnaveed we get the boxes stock and no guards.
I could watch your videos all day! So much joy and happiness in how you shoot and edit. Thank you for this video! I look forward to watching more adventures 😊
Thanks so much for your comment! I try to have fun with my videos. I don’t want to take them too seriously or myself for that matter. I love the creative process and learning about film making. Still lots to learn!! Thanks again!!!
Nice job on installing the “bumper” crash bar kit. I just picked up my 2023 650 Adventura , and looking for the same kit. Will be calling the dealer next week.
Thanks for leaving a comment!! Enjoy your new bike! I absolutely love mine. One gets a lot of bike for the price, with it!! Let us know how you make out ordering your “front bumper” from your dealership!
5 minutes is a long video for 40 seconds of information. But thank you.
That’s fair criticism. I sincerely appreciate your comment. I’m trying to learn how to create content that is informative, entertaining, tells a story, has a high production value but doesn’t waste people’s time. I’m still working to find that balance. I’ll try to do better. Thanks for your comment!
You are VERY brave to reach in with your hand and turn the auger when you still have the battery installed.
Why, there’s no way that could turn on. Even if it did, that’s nothing.
That's what every person who shows up at the ER with their hand in a bloody towel says. LOL! @@mikehydroseed1282
Hello what is the part# for the crash bar kit from cfmoto for the adventura??? I want to order it!! Thanks
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!! The P/N is in the Video Description. But here it is again. 6NT1-250000-0BP00 FRONT BUMPER $427.37cdn
Wow! excellent. Great to see you guys and the scenery and topography!
Glad you enjoyed it, Gaz!
I guess my ICE two stage snow blower is a rock star
I really like the way you edit your videos, great work. The only down side is that now I'm afraid to take my new 40v Ryobi snowblower out of the box lol
Thanks for leaving a comment and thanks for the praise on my editing. I work hard to improve each video while trying to come up with new and informative content. I hope Ryobi has improved it manufacturing and quality control since I bought mine a couple winters ago. I’m sure they have. 😊
@@GeoSphere It's nice to see other Canadian youtubers. There's not many of us doing tools reviews in Canada out there. I need to up my editing game if I want to compete with you 😉
@@Toolspecs thanks!!! Yes it’s hard to find other RUclipsrs around me. Would love to have others to watch, encourage and support. Tools aren’t really my thing. But, I didn’t really know what “my thing” is! Lol I’ve got a lot of views and comments on my review style video. Maybe I’ll do more.
Geo! That was awesome Buddy!
The question I would have on this snowblower relates to forward thrust. How hard do you have to push through the snow? It does not appear to have a self propelled feature. What happened when you had to deal with heavier, wet snow?
Thanks for the comment!! The amount of effort into pushing depends on the snow consistency and depth (amount). My experience is it take little effort, as long as I let the food do the work and not force it. When I do that, it’s like pushing it around the garage when it’s not running. I hope that helps. Thanks again for watching!
