Ridiculous, inane, and unrealistic. First off, she never showed them photos of him? Secondly, they live in Bel Air, their kids go to an expensive private school, they have an English butler, and they're shocked that she's marrying a White man? Third, he looks like a Calvin Klein model. If he looked/sounded like John Goodman, the dynamic would've been different. I've seen British sitcoms and dramas where there were interracial relationships, and they didn't treat it like a freak show. Then again, I noticed that Black sitcoms in the USA (Cosby Show, Family Matters, Good Times) almost never feature interracial dating. Except for Lincoln Heights, but that was a drama series. And that was even more unusual, because you almost never saw a serious TV drama about a Black family. This FPOBA episode was almost as stupid as the Cosby Show episode where an elderly relative says to Denise, "Did you know it was illegal to teach a slave to read?" My mother asked, "How could the show's writers be stupid enough to think a Black college student wouldn't know that?"

This scene to me is no different than a Roseanne episode when Dj didn't want to kiss a black girl. Family Matters where Eddie was harassed by a police officer or Moesha when they had a problem with her childhood friend being white. Lastly That's So Raven where the manager wouldn't hire her because she's black. It was all racist. It happens in life and these shows didn't sugarcoat it and I love it. It is addressing real life issues that we deal with. Everything is a learning lesson about how things are in the world. All love ❤
