Fooling Yourself keys solo

I've loved Dennis DeYoung's solo on Styx's "Fooling Yourself" (1977) since first hearing it in high school, so I decided to transcribe and learn it. This was the day after my 2nd COVID-19 vaccine, and I had a wicked fever!

Never released on CD, this is a transfer from a 1996 cassette tape. Excuse the quality of my tape, tape deck, and transfer to digital. It's the best I have at the moment. Band in Denial, a.k.a. Augie's Kids (musicians formerly of Augie Jr. and the Big Mess Blues Band), was a New Orleans street ensemble in the mid-90s. Even almost 2 decades later, this video is still a gem. I hope the original uploaders are doing well
I was looking up myself , and I found you. Good playing.
I used to drink in the old bar in Glenrio. I worked on a ranch in Adrian, TX (dry). It simply had a small bar and a pool table. It would fill up with cowboys on Fri. and Sat. nights. No girls just cowboys. Beer flowed freely and fights were frequent. Occasionally bikers would pull in and it meant that it was time to leave.
I haven't taken this trip yet, but after watching your video, the plan is to take an adventurous road trip like you have allowed us all to do in your travels.
I would stop in every town, seems like you drove through them not taking time to check them out.
If every time we stopped was in the video, it would be longer than a Peter Jackson movie! A week edited down to a half-hour.
Cool video, it's look like late 80s and early 90s.....but it was in 2011, awesome.
Every time I drive Route 66 I swear that I feel like I was there back when it was the main Highway. I really like Seligman Az.
Some nice towns on the route, don’t look to be ghost towns. Great video, thanks for posting.
Oh MY GOD !!! You Stop the Video like 2 Blocks away from the OLDEST BUILDING on Route 66, that has been doing the Same Exact thing, Uninterrupted an never closed Down since the Day Route 66 was Opened in 1926. The Shrine Mosque was Built in 1923 an is Home of the "Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Temple." Shriners Help Children, an our Doors have NEVER BEEN CLOSED. Our Stage is the Only Place on Route 66 that Elvis ever Preformed on. I am an ABA Shriner.
Great video guy's thanks 👍👍👍👍👍
Speaking of Alanreed, Tx., wasn't "Alan Reed" the original voice of Fred Flintstone?
I love this video! I love Route 66! I lived and worked in the U.S. for 12 years and been planning a great R66 road trip but never had the chance. Am back home in the Philippines now for good. Thanks for videos like this, somehow my dreams are realized. Thanks man!!!
first prize.one week in amarillo. second prize is two weeks in amarillo
That was fun. The Interstate Highway System gutted the United States, tore it's heart out.
Nice video guys. Only thing I found puzzling was: How was the Cozy Cone in Cars movie inspired by BOTH the Wigwam Motel AND the Blue Swallow Motel?
Great question! The Wigwam of course was the traffic cone/teepee resemblance. But, the Blue Swallow influence is more subtle--it was the neon, specifically the "100% Refrigerated Air" sign
Noticed another cars thing, Next to Lizzy's shop is the tilting water tower of Texas!
Wow, Awesome!
You visited gay parita which was my father
as in Gary Turner?
@@styxmahler yes
Thanks for this wonderful! Greetings from Italy!!
Great! I wish I could take a road trip like this on Rt 66.
I graduated HS in 1966 in the mid west.and my dream was to travel 66 to ca. I left the day after graduation. I always drive 66 when I go back. I live outside of Oatman now and when I First hit that winding road I was scared stiff.
As a truck driver i remember reading the names of some of these small towns when running on the interstates that cross route 66. Educational
The incomes those mechanics had working out of small shops would be a story in itself. Doubtful any of them had sufficient air conditioning. Getting parts would involve at least a two day stay in the bed bug motel for the customer. Average parts run would allow for a 100 mile round trip. The golden era of unreliable cars may return in order to push everyone into EV.
