TPI 18” High Velocity Floor Fan Model F-18-TE
Just a quick overview of the TPI fan I bought the other day. Overall build quality and performance is very good. A little steep in price but it’s definitely one of the better fans you can buy today. I wish it came with oil ports but not much I can do about that. Still a very solid purchase.

1982 Hunter Original Ceiling Fan

Just a quick video on the other Hunter Original that I got a while back. I found 2 sets of cane blades brand new in box that fit these fans perfectly. I have the other sets for both but they aren’t in the best of shape so I’m glad I was able to find these.

24” Hunter Zephair pedestal fan. I was told it was from the mid 40s. Sorry the information tag is hard to read it was difficult to get it in frame being over 7 and a half feet tall lol. It says it’s a type A242 serial number P619150.

Pretty cool fan I’ve never seen one of these before and didn’t want to pass it up. Wasn’t aware Lakewood made HV18’s as pedestal fans.

Pretty good score on this one I wasn’t aware it came with the box when I went to get it. It ended up being another collector and I got a few other things off of him while I was there.

Vintage Lasko box fan from the early 60s if I had to guess someone correct me if I’m wrong. In pretty good shape and moves a good amount of air.

Cool little fan needs a lot of work but still in decent shape. Definitely couldn’t pass it up for free.
Vintage Lakewood W 20-3 Window Fan
Просмотров 8424 года назад
Vintage Lakewood (Pennys) W 20-3. Possibly pretty rare based on that I haven’t ever seen any others of this exact model before. Unfortunately I don’t have much of a use for this one because our windows aren’t the type that a window fan could be installed. Definitely isn’t going anywhere though I’ll be hanging on to this one.

Lakewood K-223 that has definitely seen it’s better days but still runs good. Hopefully one of these days I can get around to seeing what’s going on with the unbalanced blade.

Just an old Sears oscillating fan I’ve had for quite some time now.
Vintage Lasko Box Fan

Lasko box fan from 1980-81 judging from the UL stamp on the bottom of it. Kind of unique that it’s only a 2 sped model as that was more popular on the older metal box fans.

Wow that thing is mint! That’s very uncommon to find these antique industrial pedestals fans that clean. Most got abused in workshops once the original stores or owners decided to get rid of them.
@@Zackthefanman76 I’ve cleaned it up a lot since this video it looks even better now. Unfortunately the wiring is definitely starting to show its age so it’ll probably need to be gone through at some point I still can’t get the switch to function properly. I also saw your comment about the capacitor I’ll have to do that soon
@@imthepattonI think there is an article on the AFCA about swapping the old switch for a new 3pdt toggle switch.
@@Zackthefanman76 oh ok cool I’ll have to check that out
Change the capacitor out on these for a new one. I think it was 5mfd 440 vac capacitor. Those capacitors will fail so make sure it doesn’t take the motor with it.
That is one beautiful fan. Even if you do not use it very much it is still nice to look at.
@@DONALDEPPS-f7z I’ve cleaned it up a lot since this video so it looks even better now. I’ve used it a few times this summer but I agree it is nice to look at
a metal Lakewood stand fan which is cool wished they would kept making the metal ones its sad how there not here anymore miss Lakewood good video and i enjoyed it also i like the Startup Sound on it also.
nice back in the day when Lasko cared about the customers when it was made here in the USA i like startup sound on it on low its a very powerful box fan i enjoyed the video hope to see more videos soon
Cool fan I remember these in my young days I’m 50 now and these are still going strong today I enjoyed the video
What an Awesome Startup Sound to it we use to have this one then we gave it to my brother in law he still have it today I enjoyed the video
@@LemontTheFanMan glad you enjoyed it man these fans last a while if properly taken care of
Yes those are the best on the market today besides the air king which unfortunately they don’t make them anymore but I enjoyed the video and I’m new to your channel
@@LemontTheFanMan I appreciate the sub! And yeah I’m pretty impressed with it after using it for a few days I’d say it was worth it
@@imthepatton your welcome for the sub and your right it is worth it i have the 12s and 18s with the oil ports it's sad how they done away with oil ports
Super powerful fan love that start-up sound
I was pretty impressed with its performance for sure
This is one of my most favorite versions.
new sub
Thanks man subbed back!
thanks! and no problem@@imthepatton
Nice! Not vintage but these are very good fans and as good as many 1980's ceiling fans. These have blade arms pitched at 15 degrees. It looks perfect with four blades. What blade finish is this? I have a bright brass one from 2008 also 4-speed pull chain.
Thanks! And yes I agree these are really good fans. I like that the design hasn’t changed much between when these were made and the 70s and 80s versions. And the box for the blades says teak although to me it seems a little darker than other fans with teak finish blades.
I would have bought it also, just so BIG!
That it is for sure!
Very cool Pedestal fan of the 40s love it
Thanks man I appreciate it!
Awesome industrial Pedestal fan I love that long spin down time
Thanks man and I agree definitely always loved that about this thing
Do you still have the Canarm CP56 that you made a unboxing and demonstration video on your other channel?
Yes I still have that fan it actually used to be installed where this one currently is. I would’ve left it up but I never got around to installing a variable speed control for it
@@imthepatton can you make a video
I'm looking for this version. I got ripped off last year and thought I was getting this version and ended up with the lame ball/socket canopy version 😒😒
I’ll let you know if I decide to part ways with it. The finish isn’t in the best shape but I haven’t tried to clean it up just yet I’ll probably wait until I take it back down for that
When you put this fan on High, it makes the same exact start up noise as a SMC made Hampton Bay Littleton Ceiling Fan makes
I kinda thought it sounded similar too
You'll need to bend that blade iron back to a steeper pitch to get the wobble it least beter
Yeah I’ve bent it a tad since this video I just don’t want to break it
This fan was made back in the early to the mid 1980s and the actual name for this fan is called “Emperor” it’s just that a lot of ceiling fan collectors refers other ceiling fan models that’s similar to this model as the Emperor.
Ah ok thanks for clearing that up! So this is the true Emperor that got everyone calling this style of fan by that name
Glad you got this Hunter Original ceiling fan running I'm looking forward for more videos soon hopefully this needs some oil soon
It’s full of oil. I have a feeling it was ran without oil before I got it for quite some time though
Do you still have your video of the fans in your house from 10 years ago or so? That video is really childhood and it’d be nice to have bakx
No sorry I don’t have any of my old videos
What you have there is a 1/6 th hp. 1600 rpm. Samsung powered fan from the late 80's or really early 90's. I know this because I saw these things for sale all over when I was a kid of 14 and read the specs on the boxes. I highly suggest you oil yours because the blades are as heavy as sin on this model and spin down takes alot longer than what I saw from yours. Also, revarnishing the windings and replacing the capacitor will add alot more useful life to this fan. I know, this is what I've done to mine and I've had it since 1991and it still works and looks like the day I bought it for the price of 49.99.
Don't see too many lakewood window fans around anymore
That is very nice! Always like that style. I have the galaxy version of this one that’s probably from a little bit later on.
They are really great fans in my opinion. Definitely move a lot of air
Beautiful yellow colored cabinet on this fan
I’m glad you like it. Sometimes it’s nice to do things a bit different
Gotta love the super long spin down time also start-up sound one of my favorites I enjoyed the video
Glad you enjoyed it! This is definitely one of my favorites for sure
Nice to see you're still around. It's been a year since your last video. The third wire on the better one is probably for a light kit.
Yeah I am just don’t have a lot of new things to make videos of. I just have too many different hobbies lol. And yeah I do suppose it could be for a light but neither fan had lights installed so I find it strange that one would have it and one wouldn’t. Definitely learning a lot about these as I redo them
Very nice High velocity pedestal fan I absolutely love that start-up sound one of my favorites
Yeah you definitely can’t beat the old HV Lakewood’s!
Hopefully you'll get these 2 hunter Originals repaired and get them running again I enjoyed the video
Thanks I’m glad you enjoyed! I’ll definitely get them going but it’s probably going to take some time before it happens
Sounds like a bearing issue do to the blade being out of balance
It could be. I have yet to see a plastic blade GE box fan that is perfectly in balance though these things all seem to have some kind of wobble to them
By adding 20 to the number in the lower right corner would make your fan a 1955 year. Don't straighten out that rounded area in the cage as it is not bent. Instead, rotate the cage so this area is at the bottom and the nametag is horizontal. This depression provides rotational clearance when the fan is aimed downward.
Do you think it's possible it could be the barrons? Try to take the motor apart and give it a good cleaning and service , see if that helps ... If the windings are discolored and not running at it's normal wattage and it's making a loud humming or buzzing , that motor is pretty much done for , make a video of it and you can receive advice , but other than that I really enjoyed your video 👍🙂
That fan’s in really good shape even though it’s not necessarily mint. These fans are better all the newer ones made in China and definitely last a long time. Like Spaghettios stated in his P-222 box fan video, “they really don’t make them like they used to.” ruclips.net/video/65Lfkbvwmdk/видео.html
1950s
What happened to the 2 videos that you made of you unboxing a canarm CP56 industrial in the first video and in the second one, you were demonstrating it
I still have it it’s hanging up in my garage I need to install the variable speed switch and wire it all up then I’ll make a video of it
@@imthepatton but did you delete the unboxing video
@@shivamgandhi5779 those videos were all made a long time ago when I was younger and weren’t necessarily done right
@@imthepatton ok, sorry if I asked
Definitely never seen one of these before and is indeed a rare fan. There possibly may have been a few other models above this model that had a reversible motor along with thermostat but I am not entirely sure about that and I am not very versed with vintage fans other than the Vornado fans of the era.
I’ve seen a lot of fans similar to this but never this exact model. I am surprised it’s not reversible and has a thermostat though for sure. This one definitely isn’t going anywhere
@@imthepatton it’s definitely a unique fan for sure, and hopefully you can find the correct color for it when you go to restore it one day in the future. I tried to find a turquoise spray paint to touch up some areas on a 1963 Whirlpool set I am in the process of restoring but the closest thing I found was a few shades lighter and a few shades darker and finding the exact color will be difficult.
I have one I got new in box for $5. Now I'm just waiting for summer to roll around so I can use it.
That’s awesome and definitely a steal. You should post it once you get it out since this is the only one I’ve seen on RUclips so far.
Back in elementary and high school, I remembered seeing a stand fan exactly like this branded Dayton.
Dayton made their own version of a few Lakewood fans I believe. I know they had a Dayton brand box fan back in the day that looked just like a P-23. I’d be curious to see the Dayton version of this but I can’t find any videos of any fan like this at all.
The motor is a RmR motor. Its definitely from the 60s..I have a similar one under the Citation name.
Sweet I appreciate the info! I wasn’t aware they were made under a different name.
That thing is a beast! I saw a picture of one in a catalog once, but this is the first time I've seen the real thing. Also if you were wondering that is the original motor.
I assumed it was the original motor I just wasn’t aware they used Samsung motors in these. I didn’t even know they made these fans until I saw this one. Definitely a unique one I’m gonna hold on too.
This fan probably would have been white or light grey originally. These older fans used a speed coil for the speeds, which can sometimes burn out. That's probably what happend to the one on this fan so at some point someone replaced it with the varible control.
Ok cool I appreciate the info. It’ll be a little while before I redo this one. I’m sure a regular 3 speed switch from a newer fan would work. Or do you think it’d be ok to leave the variable speed switch in it?
@@imthepatton A regular switch wouldn't work because motor itself is only 1 speed. I think it would be okay to keep using the varible control. But I'm not an expert so don't take that at face value.
@@Panacycle oh ok I didn’t realize that. The variable speed switch might be ok since im assuming it’s been installed in the fan for a while
Those are pretty rare. Cool find!
Thanks! I kinda figured they were as I’ve never seen one before I never knew they made them.
Oh, comments are now open. These early Lakewood window fans are indeed pretty rare. This one would probably be from the late 50s or early 60s, and the motor is a redmond brand. I also see what looks like an EXL floor fan in the background, and would love to see a video of it if it is.
Yeah my bad I didn’t realize they were off before but I fixed it. And thanks for the info I’ve never heard of Redmond. Also good eye that is an EXL floor fan I’ll make a video of it soon.
oh yeah another tip you can frame it to use as a normal fan but like what i said leave the paint unrestored looks nice 👍
Yeah I thought about doing that. It would probably be my best bet so that it’s still usable. And I agree I like the unrestored look for now I definitely don’t have plans on painting it.
very nice piece if i was you leave the paint the way it is looks in good shape i prefer leaving it unrestored but make sure the motor has some oil in it!!
Glad to see you're back! What's been going on all this time?
Just been busy with work and life in general. Haven’t had time to mess with any of my hobbies for several years but covid happening kind of allowed me to get back into them.
