Sir,a basic issue of indian muslim/Pakistani historians/intellectuals/elites/ashrafs is that they never address the issue of religious conversion by choice or otherwise presuming that either it never occurred or is not an issue worth considering. And this leads to their perennial identity issue,whether they are Arabs or persians or Afghans or Turks or Mongols or central Asian nomads. However they are implicitly sure they were never Hindus and this negation defines their identity. One other issue about which perhaps they are not even aware of is that Arab religion convert warlords who ruled parts of india intermittently ruled both hindus and muslims and these warlords had no relation or connection with the ruled polity. As a result they did not leave any descendents,only muslim masses and hindus who did not convert.

Instead of Indian Nationalism, we need to go for the South Asian Nationalism stretching from Afghanistan to Myanmar.
