      Yes it’s hard for him to, we need to find some middle ground to gaming somehow as that’s what isn’t helping , he masks all Day in school which we understand as it’s a way to fit in but then when he comes home it all unravels normally whilst gaming ! We've just completed both EHCP reviews for both the twins here too, and named schools for next September. My understanding is that kids with EHCP's find out their allocated schools when their finalized EHCP is released by PCC which by 15th February next year at the latest. After that you need to decide whether to appeal within two months, and participate in a mediation process, then it goes to a tribunal if it hasn't been resolved, and PCC must go along with the finding of the tribunal. The problem is that right now the tribunal process is taking until after school start in September, so some kids have to stay at home or go to a temporary setting while it's all decided.

    • @AutismTwinsUs
      @AutismTwinsUs Месяц назад

      @jeremyjohnson1685 George’s school goes strait through to 18 so he’s fine, Matthew’s choice is just a mainstream so presume we will have to wait until May , the amount of kids I know who’ve had to be home while authorities sort out their placements is a joke Jeremy, such a poor system. ALL children have a legal right to an education

    • @jjsomewhere
      @jjsomewhere Месяц назад

      @@AutismTwinsUs I don't think so, it should be named on his EHCP so out by February? We're similar to you, as usual, M is in a mainstream primary having transitioned from a SEN space within the school so mum has named a mainstream secondary in central Plymouth which he should get automatically as he has an EHCP and it's a feeder school for his primary, but V's current school is a primary only special school so he has to move next September. His mum has put down an independent special school which has very limited places, plus it's quite expensive and PCC aren't going to be keen to place him there so watch this space!

    Also; whenever we get more toys ie Christmas, we have got into the routine of out with old in with new. If my kids haven’t played with something for more than a year, I tell them (don’t ask them) that we’re giving it away or selling it to be able to afford new things. I’ve found that with slightly autistic girls, the less choices the easier on them. Signposting too. Tell them a few days in advance that your going to have a tidy up and they will be easier about the changes

    I have twin 10 year old girls. It’s been a battle with the whole loosing stuff and I have usually been the one to find whatever’s missing. However, more recently (don’t know how old your boys are) they moan about loosing something and come and ask me to help look but these days I’ve found these two things help 1) if there is time and no one is rushing out the door I don’t even tell them to try and find it. I basically say right step away from what you’re doing. There is no point trying to find it because most likely they have put it somewhere and forgotten If the child keeps getting upset at the lost thing throughout the day then firstly I make them retrace what they were doing. At some point someone will remember something and then hey presto, they find it themselves (if it’s that important) 2) if it’s rushed then I make sure the kids stop what their doing and promise to help find it later. By the time we’re home, they’ve forgotten BUT if they are adamant I follow through with promise and help Also, with autism, put things in clearly labelled boxes etc and ensure the kids help you go through their toys and organise them. This reduces the likelihood of loss and helps them to regain control-that’s what they like, in my experience Hope this helps

      Hey, so the boys are 10. George will often lose things (he knows where it is a lot of the time) but we get screamed at to find it. So we get him involved as much as we can. We organise the toys regularly to make it easier to find things, but he will mix it up almost immediately. Everything is a learning curve, we are first time parents, to twins, to twins with additional needs, and sometimes we do what we have to to survive the day ❤

      We absolutely agree, we often go through and donate, throw away unused or broken toys. We try to keep a one in, one out rule. We are trying our best to navigate meltdowns due to wanting toys and don't constantly buy new. I don't have the money if anything, so George knows he doesn't get get what he wants just because he kicks off. It can become so difficult at times to know when to give in and when to fight the battles. We just take it a day at a time 😊

    Delayed processing causes me to feel like I am clicking but constantly loosing it's not by a lot but the slightest delay can really make video games hard. You didn't get as frustrated and struggling with emotional regulation ie. Meltdowns which is what is happening. The worst situation I am not going into the details online because it's worse than I am describing but I was refusing to go to bed until I won and fighting going to sleep. My brother had sleeping issues my mom tried to tell me not to wake him up so I started screaming to wake him up because of jealousy in the attention he was getting mixed with video game meltdown. I have thought about getting video games but realize that I have too many meltdowns over it and just can't have it available all the time. I can go and play a friend but alone it's a recipe for meltdowns. Matthew I can totally relate brother with much more severe autism and the meltdowns with games.

      @@amycannan914 if his processing speed is behind unfortunately he's going to struggle more than the typical person and if he has meltdowns which it sounds like he is having because he feels like he is hitting x one moment but really he's half a second behind. He's enjoying it by getting away and recharging his social battery. If I am trying to recharge and what I am using to recharge won't work good luck everyone.

    Funny story for you. Me as an autistic adult a few years back I use to something similar with the spinning but on a work chair at home. One day spun so fast I lost balance went to the floor. I didn't get hurt rather I was laughing I thought it was fun. When it comes to transitions I experience something similar but not exact. For example I struggle till this day with change. I hate it strongly when there is a change that happens. But I also found out that if you tell me about the change in advance and you allow me time to process usually I'm more inclined to accept change and go alone with it. It's also issues with adaptation. If I'm used to something and you were to tell me to do it differently well the new way is something I've never done before, I don't understand, and so I'm scared of it. And that fear is usually always one of a few reasons why I have hesitation and strong aversion to changes. I know it's not the exact same as transitions but it's someone what similar so i just wanted to mention it! Great video! Good information!

      Thanks for your reply and experience, we do try to prepare George for any changes, it also helps him when he’s informed, so think after being off school for 6 weeks to then going back to routine will always take some time , since the changes it’s been much better this week

    Great vlogs! I hope this doesnt seem like im judgy, but I genuinely dont think matthew is autistic. He seems like a neurotypical average kid his age. maybe hes a bit shy or maybe he mimicked some of george's behaviours when he was younger, but I would think about him getting reassessed.

      you have to remember a video or vlog is a very short snippet of time, even hundreds of videos now each video has such a small amount of footage of a day. Matthew is much higher functioning but we've put very little footage of him struggling with issues related to his asd has on him. Noise and sensory issues that we don't have to share to try and prove his diagnosis.. Matthew masks extremely well but when he's home in his safe place it's very obvious he's on the spectrum. We are also very select in what we share. Matthew will also ask me to omit parts of videos before they go LIVE. Masking is more common in girls or higher functioning because they want to fit in. We encourage him to be HIMSELF but he masks a lot. He requires more help then a vlog will show is all I can say. No offence taken at all but also remember he has learnt to manage himself and his emotions pretty well. Adam

      found a very little video ruclips.net/video/8eoJTdXHPDY/видео.html that maybe gets you to understanding it. Matthew is a very big masker. he masks at school and when he comes home it all unravels, and when it does the last thing on my mind is too vlog it etc , hopefully that explains the point I'm trying to make Adam
