Hospital Failure|Autism Family Vlog_335
#autism #hospital #autismawareness
Hospital appointments are always a huge challenge for us and especially George. He had an appointment that just was a complete shambles from start to finish. I try to make all our videos positive so I've added in some other footage from a little walk. Hopefully you guys can relate to the frustration. Hope all your summer breaks are going ok. all the best Adam and thanks for watching.

    Sorry about your experiences. Hospitals here in the US aren’t much different. But from a different perspective. And that is because here a lot of people use the emergency room as their doctors visit. So they tend to put stress on hospital for non emergency problems. One time I went for an issue with my heart and they kept me in the waiting room for 8 hours. I was literally losing my mind. When they took me in they took another 6 hours to do all testing etc. so 14 hours in the hospital because they can’t get their act together. When it comes to neurological problems hospitals here do not really equip their emergency rooms with an on sight neurologist. Basically what happens is that they have to call in the on-call neurologist which means several hours before they show up depending on time of day and in the mean time they trap the person with issues in the hospital giving them medicine based on medical literature instead of actual diagnoses. I’ll be clear and say this is my interpretation of it and some of my own experiences. There could be hospitals better equip for this but I’m not aware of them. Then at the end you get poor assistance that costs hundreds to thousands of dollars depending on your medical insurance. I can relate to this. And I personally don’t like it. This is why personally I found a neurology center near by that I was referred too by my primary doctor and they have been treating me excellently. I hope you and your family are doing well! Great video!

    Sunshirt and sunscreen is key. Sometimes the sensory seeking of one kid can be overload for the other which can be a challenge which can be a part of the fighting. Me and my brother fought as kids because I struggled to understand my autism which was similar to Matthew and my brother was so different more like George. We truly couldn't be more different he enjoys stores and seeing what is there I prefer the Internet and buying what I need and having it delivered. I struggled with going to the store and getting something and worrying I would do it wrong or they would misunderstand me.

(Which I get totally for kids who don't understand the idea of well now you can't ride for 2 hours with RAP because that's the main queue length, but still!) Edens going to struggle with only being able to ride each ride once though. Going to have to get her to queue when she can and save the RAP for if it's busy

    • @theedenadventures
      @theedenadventures 2 месяца назад

      @@AutismTwinsUs we've been a few times previous and loved it (Halloween is an awesome time to go!) the first time we didn't have RAP but only really did peppa side and it wasn't too bad for queues but it was midweek term time. Second time I tried to do it without RAP even though she was eligible , it was before they were asking for proofs and we had a really hard time, I ended up going to the first aid at lunchtime and asking about it and then they were saying wheelchairs just go to exit no card or proof needed etc and no one time only rule for wheelchairs so that was awesome. The next time I had her wait if the queues were short and there was others in RAP queue because she can wait sometimes if it's not too long and you know life comes with the need to wait sometimes and not just bulldoze through a crowd. I think now she's older her needs are a little more obvious so we get less judgement now than when she was a wild 4 or 5 year old and people just thought she was a brat who wanted her own way. But when it's an 8 year old bouncing and spinning it doesn't take most people too long to get the message. (Plus we don't go anywhere without her lanyard to get the message across quicker and also because it has my contact info on for those moments she disappears on me - doesn't happen too much anymore 🤞) Drayton was absolutely amazing with her too and West Midlands safari, places do seem to be improving alot on their awareness of more invisible disability the last couple of years. Almost identical diet for twins M & V here, although V will eat any completely plain cheeseburger rather than just the branded supermarket ones, and any plain chocolate biscuits, and M has a slightly wider repertoire including home made macaroni cheese, and sometimes some fish & chips. The Plymouth Life Center Cafe cheeseburgers are twins safe food approved (see my comment to your previous video). Otherwise what you really need is a dedicated Ukrainian grandmother who has always spoon fed them home made vegetable soup, and still does aged 10. Camp fire cheeseburgers were a success last year (maybe cooking outdoors reduces anxiety around food?), and dutch oven pizza also cooked on a camp fire is on the menu for this summer, and maybe a few other experiments. Other than that finding new safe foods is a big challenge.
