My first video about our beautiful town Kutná Hora (Kuttenberg).
Thanks again Martin for your great video. Looking forwad to get another inside when you progress more in the game.
Thanks! :)
My current PC cant run KD2, so I'm waiting till I can get a new one. Once I have reached Kutna Hora myself I will watch this video. (Have watched all other with great joy, hope you make some more!)
Thanks! Good luck with a new PC! :)
It’s really sad we can’t enter any Church. I hope they will make all interiors of the churches and cathedrals authentic and beautiful this coming year. At least we know Sedlec monastery will be end of the year
I hope we will be able to enter some of them later in the game. I went to Kuttenberg straight away and some places probably open as the story advances. But for the rest of them we have to hope for some DLC. :)
Thanks and I would have been suprized if all those doors opened to complete interiers. Hopefully some will as the game progresses. Anyway thank you for the tour!
You're welcome! I am sure places like Italian court, town hall and St Barbara cathedral construction site we will visit as part of the game's quests. And I also hope for St James church and Hrádek, especially because they are today quite easily accessible and very well researched. :)
So you can have sex with Hans but churches are inaccessible? Lol, lmao even.
You seem to be obsessed about drilling Hans, when this video has nothing to do with it Is something stuck in your closet?
He's just disappointed with the direction the developers chose for the game and he is not alone with that sentiment. Not only the sodomy aspect and the inability to visit cultural landmarks as demonstrated in this video, the game in general is a let down. From the long winded reddit tier dialogues to the very limited player options to solve different situations, the game is not what many had hoped for.
The church being closed is such a bummer, churches were one of the most important public spaces in towns, doors wide open, people comming and going, the poor sleeping on the floor and even signing legal contracts in churches was a common practice.
I hope some of them open later in the game or in some DLC :)
Yeah it was bit disappointing to not being able to visit any church or good looking building there. Hopefully they'll update that later or add something but yeah. Kinda disappointing
I still hope most of the important buildings and churches will be "opened" later in the game. Or are you further in the game and it's still not accessible?
@ Don't know about further in the game, but it could be something they're saving for the DLC that features Sedletz Monastery
@@Kuttenberger_Martin yup, those buildings are now like permanently unaccessible. They aren't unlockable after advancing in game's progress
@@tristanberndt7643 I hope so as well
oh damn, then I hope it will be added in some DLC as well. :)
Saving this video for later because I haven't made it to Kuttenberg yet. Don't want to spoil myself on exploring it for the first time
That I fully support! :)
Same here
I have actually mentioned you in a video but later I have cut that out. :D When I walked into the building next to the one I wrote my master thesis about I was like "my friend, an architect has his atelier here today". But then I thought you might not like this type of advertising. But if you like, I can in future refer to it as "today's Architect Malina's building". :)
I had the pleasure to see it on display in the church during a visit to Kutna Hora last september, I had no idea only a handful of medieval monstrances still exist, i always assumed there must be hundreds of them.
As one person here already pointed out, I may have said it more generally, than it was. It should have been "10 gothic style monstrances" (maybe even "of the tower type"). There are also some preserved till today from the previous period (Romanesque). I just took this information from our parish website and retold it wrongly. Sorry about that. But anyway, it would still be "handful" and not "hundreds". :) Enjoy the game tomorrow! :)
@@Kuttenberger_Martin It's not like there is a complete list of gothic monstrances anyway, I've seen mentions of anywhere between 2 and 4 such objects in Poland.
Always watched your videos with interest, you put into context a great perspective of the history from that time. Big thanks
Thanks for watching! :)
Imagine if we really ARE able to steal this... it would probably ALWAYS have the "stolen" icon on it, as it'll never be forgotten... but it would of course still be VERY valuable.
There has Gotta be a Joke there about the Crown Jewels. I Might wack them with a Mace if I Find them In KCD.
Would love to visit one day
You are a great teacher! Thankyou!
Thank you very much for watching! :)
@Kuttenberger_Martin do you do interviews? I'd love to chat with you about kcd2
sure. we can try to figure something out after the release :)
Thanks again for the history lesson! I hope you find more topics to tell us about in the future! audentes fortuna iuvat!
I definitely will. :) Just looking forward to finally play the game and I believe the topics will pop up like mushrooms after rain :)
Už vidím, ako by to všetci chceli čorchnúť. Ale čo by z toho bolo? Vyzerá to ako jedinečný, nepredajný kúsok...
Pořád by se to dalo roztavit. :D Je v tom stříbra na pár tisíc grošů. Nebo by zloděj musel cestovat hooodně daleko. :)
@@Kuttenberger_Martin ono by bola škoda roztaviť umelecké dielo....
Fantastic video! Thank you!
Thank you for watching!
I sense a heist mission haha
Honestly that would be super cool. Just knowing that these items still exist gives it a realism aspect that makes it unique from other items/missions.
That, or someone else steals it and we have to retrieve it. :)
Really looking forward to check this out and see if it's in the game!
Focusing in Adoration is certainly a challenge, but it does get easier with practice. Excellent video.
Thanks! :)
can we steal it?
if it is even in a game, I hope we can... But I hope there will be some quest around it. :)
end of 14 century means its hould be 1490 not in kcd2 1403
Oh, the 14th century means it's between 1301-1400. I know, it is a bit confusing... :)
no no 14th century is 1301-1400
@@Kuttenberger_Martin We wrote it in the same time and both used 1301-1400, Jesus is guiding us :D How to understand it best is that the first century is 1-100
@@Kuttenberger_Martin no vida, to jsem netušil
Má to neskutečný detail.
Here is a list of oldest notable monstrances in Europe: Monstrance of the Holy Cross (Wrocław, Poland) - 13th century Monstrance of St. Oswald (Worcester, England) - 13th century Monstrance of the Holy Sacrament (St. Vitus Cathedral, Prague, Czech Republic) - 14th century Sedlec Monstrance (Sedlec, Czech Republic) - circa 1390 Monstrance of the Blessed Sacrament (Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, Wrocław, Poland) - 15th century Monstrance of the Holy Sacrament (Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Florence, Italy) - 16th century So Sedlec Monstrance is in top 4 oldest in Europe!
thanks for adding this information! :)
You are welcome! And if you still find some time, it will be awesome to hear about that Mining code I asked you about before. But I'm sure you are a bussy man. It's just everyone says it's very complex, but I don't hear anything about it, not even essentials. Just basics would do fine. Nontheless have a nice evening, your videos are great. :)
Thanks! Well, we had a full episode of podcast in czech with my father about the Ius Regale Montanorum (he also published that two decades ago). I remember you asked about that but your question was more about every day live of a miner, right? And I can't tell much about that. This mining law is mostly about other things. But if you are interested what that is about, I would love to make some episode just about the mining law. But that would be just for some hardcore economical history enthusiasts, because it's mostly about this capitalist allocations of investments and risks and so on... But it could be MAYBE possible to find "between the lines" something about everyday life. :) But I'm not promising anything... :)
Do you have any links to this list or where can i read about them?
7:48 Best part of the czech history 😄
Yeah! :D To be honest I was quite surprised it was so many years ago. I had a feeling it was just a few years ago. Probably I'm getting old... :D
As a Swede all i know it got a pretty capitol and something about beer (which i dont drink).
@@crooster1 that's exactly what a swedish soldier thought during the 30 years war :D
You really help to embark on KDC2 with background knowledge, I really appreciate it! Was there a mayor figure of Kutná Hora? Greetings from Durynska
This is a great question but I am afraid my answer will disappoint you by its ambiguity. First I have to say I have not studied in too much depth the municipal politics, I have already some reading material for that, but it's quite complicated. So what I write might not be 100% accurate. There was a town council (in 1403 probably 18 members) which changed quite often in today's point of view (maybe every year, maybe two). Something like "mayor" was there, but I would call it more like a "chairman" or "spokesman" - this person held the town seal, but he changed every month (!), so he was more like "first between equals". It seems there was a strong effort to keep town council as "collective" institution and not let it "usurp" by one strong personality. Fun about politics is, that it's a house of cards. It's taking power until someone stops you. There is tension, trying the borders... So for example a strong mintmaster could take more power over a week town council. There was no written "constitution" or something that would fix power of each institution/position. So this dynamic between especially mintmaster and town council (as most important players in Kuttenberg) changed over time. And that's the reason, why I can't really talk about the municipal politics in 1403 without further studying - it's too dynamic... I hope it answers at least a bit what you asked :)
@@Kuttenberger_Martin That's a great explanation! Gives me a picture of how things worked in Kutná Hora in 1403
Kudos from WHS to Dear Mr. Martin ♥

Thanks for the trust! I am afraid, I would be too boring as streamer. :D But could be fun to try that :)
Yeah Martin. Watching you playing the game and talking about medieval history would be so cool!

thx 4 your in depth info, i'll be much much more enjoy playing the kcd 2 now.
thanks! Glad to hear that :)
@@Kuttenberger_Martin May I ask a bit out of Kuttenbrug? I'm curious about KCD 3-if it takes place in Prague, are there any other significant events that might occur there, such as those involving the Pišek and Ruthard families, or perhaps any major wars?
@lilakliliaz in 1403 nothing interesting happend in Prague. Year earlier Prague (almost) immediately joined Sigismud. King Wenceslas was captured there. But since then it was quiet. More interesting stuff than happened during Hussite wars, two decades later. First Prague defenestration 1419 (not last - they love to throw people out of windows there :D ). And battle of Vítkov hill 1420. So Prague would make more sense in that period. :)

Is that the complete map of the second play area behind you on the wall or just a part of it ?
That is just town Kuttenberg - a small fraction of the whole "second" map where there will be a whole area between Kuttenberg, Suchdol, Malešov (locations I have talked about) and some unspecified chunk of a land on the north :)
