This is SWANTONMASTERS Video Just want to know what you think of it
Elvis is one of my favorite artists but I do like metal and horror and I feel like people don’t see each subgenre of metal like a subgenre of horror NWOBHM- Monster Movies Thrash- Slasher Films Death Metal- Splatter Black Metal- Possession Movies Doom Metal- Macabre Movies
As a fellow Buffalonian; why does his accent sound so familiar, yet so Walken-esque at the same time?
Could it be that listening to death metal is doing shadow work? Not that any metal fan would remotely have this type of repressed violence but going this extreme by default would acknowledge any darkness in our mind.
well said.
33 years later imo Butchered At Birth is still the heaviest album of all time in my opinion.
Black metal is better than death metal in my opinion
One of my favorite quotes from Alex. I remember this interview from the making of the wretched spawn. And his last statement about censorship was just hilarious to me. Elvis gyrated his hips and we sing about eating people lol.
He's talking about Death Metal but it's true for all metal and aggressive music
Alex is the best.
This guy is high iq giggachad 😈🙌 seeing mayhem and cannibal corpses October 6th it’s going to be madness
listen death for life
Death metal brings me a level of comfort and hope that nothing else in this world does. Only fellow metalheads understand this.
I disagree completely love pre 2k death metal though it's a dead genre imo
Wisdom.
I really like this guy 🤘🏻
1:47 exactly
Basically he's saying that everyone needs an outlet in their life and his just happens to be Death Metal. Totally agree.
Since I got into rock/metal music in 1978 (thanks to KISS! I'm 52, by the way), rock/metal IS MY LIFE. To paraphrase Alex and others, I "use the negative to appreciate, or strengthen, or enhance the positive!"
Fucked with a knife is poetic
Death metal sucks, 1000 bpm of noises.
Does he like death metal SD?
this video needs more views. most people outside of extreme metal can never understand this
This has been on my mind for a while now, but what I find interesting is that Alex Webster is in a band with song titles such as "Stripped Raped and Strangled," yet he comes off as very pleasant. Compare that to R-Kelly who wrote I Believe I Can Fly, a song that was played all over kindergarten graduation ceremonies, yet R-Kelly is way worse than any of the guys from Cannibal Corpse. Now obviously not every metalhead is as cool as the guys from Cannibal and not every pop fan is as insane as R-Kelly, however what you should take away from this is that you shouldn't judge people based on the music that they listen to. I also want to see Corpsegrinder fight R-Kelly.
We dont give a fuck Rocks or Metals🤟🏻🥳🤟🏻🎶✨
a rational, educated gentleman is Alex Webster......and that's not even mentioning the godlike musicianship he displays.
Death Metal is my life for the past 32 years. I'm happy to have seen CANNIBAL CORPSE live back in 1992 for the first time. What a gig with SINISTER, man 🍻
No one I've met really understands this. They think the worst when they hear this music. They think it's bad for you
Class act all the way! Alex does a fantastic job of explaining this music to outsiders of the genre
A LEGEND!!!! 🤘🏽🔥
I met Alex a few times. I said once that he was the best bassist ive heard. his response was you need to listen to more than because there are guys way greater than me. what a legend I'll tell ya
That's awesome epic
Hail Alex!
I look up to this guy so much
One good thing about music is, when it hits, you feel no pain - Bob Marley.. ...just saw Cannibal Corpse at The Observatory...on the way to the show...I was listening to The Grateful Dead...after the Show...I was still listening to Cannibal Corpse lol. 3 days later...my ears are still ringing...and I just feel...more calm.
Can you imagine if Elvis were still around today and recorded a death metal album? Good Lord, those baby boomers would lose their minds! LOL!
Any era with out Chuck isn't the best ever.
"instead of actually going out and doing something violent" lmao tell that to Pat
Oh my god people talk like he's done "violent" things regularly, when it was only once in his whole career (20 years basically) and he wasn't even conscious lmfao.
Yes exactly I still get 💩 from family it’s like whoa wake the Fuck up
Yep. Same here. You're not alone
There's really no other voice in death metal like Alex. I don't care what band it is, deicide, lamb of God, morbid angel, suffocation; name the band, noone else comes off the way that Alex does on anything.
he explains the main reasons why i love fuckind death metal
I can relate. Extreme metal like death and black and tech death etc saved my life. Depression is a bitch.
This man is why I play bass
That is so true!!! Narrow minded people don't get it. That's why quite a few of them explain death metal is bad only because they don't like it. When I first time saw a short live piece Cannibal Corpse performing in Germany - I think the year was 1994 or so- in the MTVs Headbanger's ball, then I was like:'what the hell!!! No one plays or sings like this 😶😃 This is so fucking awesome!!!'.
He is right, Death Metal is how i release my aggression, nothing better than playing brutal music at the gym. beats having to go out and kill humans.
Alex Webster is badass!
Love death metal!!!!!
Alexander Timothy Webster III is the best death metal bassist of all-time and a brilliant song-writer but I just made up that name btw.
Well said.
I feel like my brain needs death metal everyday. Or else i get really bored.
Death Metal and Metal music in general has helped my mental health. anger, pain and depression. It uplifts me and is cathartic.
"You're turning something negative into something positive by making it into music instead of actually going out and doing something violent." That falls a little flat considering that one of Cannibal Corpse's guitarists assaulted a police officer with a knife last year and is facing decades in prison for burglary and assault.
Good point, I would just say I dont think he did that because of his love of death metal, or his connection to metal or playing in the band, I think he did that because there was somthing wrong mentally with him, if he was in corpse or a lead guitarist for justin bieber I think he may still have done what he did. To blame death metal or any music or art for irrational actions from anyone I think misses the point of what is actually wrong with said person. That's just my 2 cents tho.
@@liamtheproducer Could any bad behavior be caused by death metal, or by any kind of art? Does art not have some philosophical component which can influences followers of said philosophy?
@@tobynsaunders yeah strawman a mental breakdown of a man..
