    Nice work! You clearly had done a good amount of real research on sauna building. Do you have Finnish roots?

    • @BearhawkStudio
      @BearhawkStudio День назад

      Thank You! I dont have Finnish roots - but I do love the culture. I was primarily motivated by the studies coming out of there on the health benefits, and since this was a big build - I wanted to make sure I did my due diligence to screw up as few things as possible.😆 Thanks for watching!!

    Nice job! May I suggest contact paper on your windows instead of curtains? Just thinking about the moisture and the fabric over time. Contact paper lets the light in but obscures any line of sight in or out. We use it on our lower bathroom windows and it’s great!

    • @BearhawkStudio
      @BearhawkStudio День назад

      Thank you! I used 100% linen curtains to help with that and so far they've been okay. (opening the vent at the top after each session dries things out surprisingly quickly for now) It may be more of a problem though in the warmer months. My worry with the Contact paper would be off-gassing or melting from the high temperatures - but ill definitely look into that if the temp change affects things. Maybe i could put the contact paper/tinting on the outside. Thanks for watching!!

    Great Video! I'd love to hear updates on the Vevor heater (if there is any news). I am scoping out my own Sauna build and stuck on what to do about the heater. The price gap from Vevor to the UL listed stuff like Huum, is just unreal. I am sure I am missing something but their all just resistor coils surrounded by rocks (I think).

    • @BearhawkStudio
      @BearhawkStudio 6 дней назад

      Thanks Chris! I've just been using it about a month (3-4 times a week), and so far its holding up great. I really wanted a Harvia or Huum heater - but like you said, they're crazy expensive and I just didnt have the budget for it at the time. I figure if this one lasts a few years and dies - then i can upgrade if I'm still getting the same benefits and using it as often by then. I'll post an update if that changes though! Thanks for watching!

    How do you think all that heat cooking the finish on your door is for health? You think your gonna be breathing in alot of VOCs from that door finish over time?

    • @BearhawkStudio
      @BearhawkStudio 8 дней назад

      Oof. Good call. I didn’t think of that at all. I should have maybe just done the outside, and used an oil on the inside ? Not sure if that would cause the door to expand/contract unevenly. That’s a Great observation I wish I’d thought of. Thanks for watching!

    • @BearhawkStudio
      @BearhawkStudio 13 дней назад

      I didn’t make any plans for this particular build but everything I talk about in the video could be adjusted to 36” wide. It actually makes it easier because you wouldn’t need to join the multiple back sheets you could just rip it from one thinner sheet for the back and just divide everything by 2 or 3 to get symmetrical cubbies on top and bottom.

    what was the total cost of this build? how long did it take you from day 1 to finish?

    • @BearhawkStudio
      @BearhawkStudio 16 дней назад

      It ended up being just short of $5000 after subtracting the stuff I didnt end up using or that wasnt necessary. But I did get a huge amount of the Eastern cedar for free - so that would need to be adjusted. If I were doing this again I think I could probably shave another $1-2k off of it with some tweaks to the design. The whole build took me from November to January - but there was a lot of downtime i didnt get to work over the holidays. I'd say actual days worked were probably closer to 2-3 weeks worth.

    • @BearhawkStudio
      @BearhawkStudio 17 дней назад

      When sitting on the current bench my head is at the ceiling. But I am planning to add a movable lower bench as a “step” but also for folks that don’t like the high temps like I do. The big window change kinda screwed up the bench flexibility for me and cut down on my usable bench space

    • @BearhawkStudio
      @BearhawkStudio 25 дней назад

      Thank you! I made a vent that can open and close straight above the heater right at the ceiling - but i am a little worried that the steam will discolor the soffit over time when i open it at the end of the session. Since its electric and there's no smoke i didnt feel like it needed to go straight up through the roof, and was more worried about leaks at the time - but we'll see in the next few months if i was wrong and might have to re-adjust. Good question! Thanks for watching!

    Check out "window glazing" as another technique for the door glass. Just another way to do it I guess not sure if it would hold up to sauna temps tho.

    • @BearhawkStudio
      @BearhawkStudio 27 дней назад

      Oh nice - I've seen people do that but didnt know thats what it was called. Thats exactly what I _wanted_ to do - but ended up just using a high temp silicone caulk around the edges after the guy i bought the glass from told me to just frame it in. That would've looked much nicer if it would hold up. Thanks! And Thanks for watching!

    • @BearhawkStudio
      @BearhawkStudio 2 месяца назад

      I drew up some really basic plans when i got started, based on a piece of glass the church already had for the top of the table - but ended up making quite a few changes as I went to the dimensions based on the thickness of some of the lumber that was available. Like the legs ended up being 3"x3", and the skirt around the table ended up being around 6" so the CNC letters would be readable, and still leave room for the trim. Happy to share the original drawing / dimensions with you though if you wanna reach out through the contact form on my website. And going forward I'm planning to create much more detailed plans for all my projects and make them available.

    May I ask what is the black bottle you used at the beginning?

      That was Starbond Black Medium CA Glue and Activator. There's links for both in the description of the video. That stuff is super useful and they make it in multiple colors!

      Hey Fred! I put plans for the bread bow on my website and links to all the materials needed to build these projects are in the video description. The dimensions for all are dependent on which inserts and blades you buy but I specified the ones I used in the links. Thanks for watching!
