Fall Brook Trout Fishing
Adam and I head through the woods into a back lake in search of some Ontario Brook Trout. With some of the first colder temperatures and a dusting of snow on the ground, the trout were looking to put on the feed for the winter. We had great luck on the first day landing about 35 brookies, and the luck continued the next day putting us over 50 trout for 2 days, and bringing 4 home for the frying pan.

Solo Winter Camping On The Ice
Просмотров 6 тыс.2 года назад
Last winter I go on a short, solo overnighter on the ice using my pop up ice hut and small woodstove. I get out there using my Ski-Doo Tundra R in hopes of catching a brook trout, but only come by a couple of window shoppers. Nonetheless, I got out on two great days, and enjoyed another winter camp. Many winter/ice camps to come this season, and who knows, maybe I'll catch a fish! Thanks for wa...

We make our way down the river, shooting rapids and rubbing rocks. We decide river left is our best option, but ends up being the wrong way and we have to double back. Reestablishing An Old Ontario Crown Land Campsite - Catch And Cook Northern Pike Dinner

After arriving at camp the night before in the dark, we wake up to realize where we had picked to stay was an old, burnt up Crown Land camp site. We decided to take the time that day to completely clean up the site for a future visit, or for those who may come after us. We spend the evening doing some fishing and decide to keep a Northern Pike for a night time snack.

    If you truly enjoy fishing for bass - then please do not fish for them between ice out and July 1 - as bass parents stand guard 24/7 over their nest in order to prevent other fish - including cannibal bass from eating the eggs or the newly hatched young..................... HALF the population of a nest can be wiped out in less than a minute if a parent is hooked and temporarily removed from the scene................................... to avoid catching bass prior to July 1 MEANS MORE BASS FOR US ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      @CoveringWater Год назад

      Hey thanks for watching! The stove jack I made myself using welders blanket and some velcro. The stove is a US Caribou knockoff, I would not recommend a stove like that, the flue is too small with improper airflow, so it requires well seasoned wood. I've switched it for an Esker/Knico which burns alot better and longer. Hope that helps you out, and enjoy the upcoming season.

Did one trip and fell in love, but our big old aluminum made for hard portaging, so have been considering a brand new pointed 16ft Pal as the cost is doable at this time, and fr what we have been reading are pretty durable we aren't interested in rapids and putting our boat through hell. • @CoveringWater
      @CoveringWater 2 года назад

      Thanks man. I really wanted to be able to put the tundra and my gear underneath my truck cap, that's why I take the windshield off and put the handlebars down. I used 3/4" plywood for the base, then two 2x2's on each side with a small gap between them for the ski runners/carbides to run up and not wreck the plywood. Also attached an old track up the centre for traction, and put non swivel casters underneath at the front to slide it in and out. It's a very cheap set up that works well for these light machines. It's also great for in a garage so the carbide don't dig into the floor. Thanks for watching, cheers!
