      Nope. A bit hoarse. Doesn't have the silky-smooth quality or range. His peak vocal period was 1970-73 before the partying. But later performances were not as good as here because he had a throat surgery and his voice changed and got deeper.

    • @salvadorealiberto
      @salvadorealiberto 8 месяцев назад

      @@lemurianchick Good analysis. I think what's missing in the voice in the early '70s is a certain dexterity and pretty much always being in tune. Elton himself said he could not have sung the songs of the mid 1970s in the early 1970s.

      @@JacobSummerhill we all get it, he took drugs. Move on, we don’t need another comment on that. Post after post …people commenting, on his lack of sobriety…not trying to be a jerk, just tired of people always bringing it up…I’m sure he probably took drugs during this time, but based on his performances during this era, I would argue he was probably pretty sober at these solo ray cooper shows, I’m sure he sniffed a bit, but it’s not too apparent. I’m burned out on these comments, no pun intended.

    I’m assuming this Joe smith was the president of capital records. So much to say about this interview…I didn’t care for a lot of Smiths comments, it’s too bad there wasn’t more time spent here. Interesting as ej was ending his time with Geffen and going back to mca, as he talks of his frustration. Too bad that wasn’t more deeply explored. This had to have been done between leather jackets and live in Australia…not sure if the Australian concerts had even taken place yet..don’t think it had…also , first time I heard him mention drugs…it was subtle, but I never heard him publicly acknowledge drug use until his interview with David frost circa 1991. Alcoholism,yes, drugs …no. A lot of substance here…but so glossed over.,.too bad not more deeply explored. A few of smiths comments ok for a private chat…but he led the witness on a few things…didn’t agree with some of what smith said. But lots of interesting things here.

    Wow, Madman sounds fantastic! His enunciation is so good. So much better than his 60th birthday performance (which really think he was sick for cause this shows his voice could be pretty clear/good during this era). I saw him in 08 and he sounded great. I saw him again in 2018 and his voice had deteriorated, but I saw he eventually improved in 2022.
