As for my friend Bill, he was quite a drinker, which he fortunately kept under control. I know this first hand because back in 1980 Bill owned a note club in Orange county cal and I walked up to hil and told that he and Bobby were the reason that I became and am currently pursuing my dream. he asked me to belt out a few notes so I sang unchained melody, browned woman and you've lost that loving feelin. I swear, he looked like he bout shit his pants !! he told me that he had never heard anyone sing just like Bobby and just like him .he brought me into the club, we had a few beers and a few more ??? Then he introduced me , at the time I was a virtual unknown but Bill made me feel like a superstar.we kicked ass, got a standing ovation and as fate would have it , Bill asked me if I would consider replacing Bobby to reform the righteous brothers . I said, are you fucking kidding me ?? Unfortunately I got signed a few weeks later to a rock band and only saw Bill one more time where he paid me the greatest compliment. Stephen, you have one of the greatest voices I have ever heard and I know that you have the same demon COCAINE that Bobby has and if you don't stop and get your shit together it will not only fuck your voice up but you will lose everything that the good Lord has given you. well he was right.
