Several times I've seen an entire bar full of people sing along to this song.

so that "hawaiin" sound you are hearing is a guitar. It makes you think hawaiin because that specific tone was used a lot in "surf" music! So you are totally correct :) It's just a way of making your guitar sound and they chose to use it on this track

    Oh my goodness! You didn't!
    Miss BrandyBerry 💖💙💜
You are far too kind & thoughtful 💐
Aww, you are so sweet 💗
Now to be totally honest with you: I have never heard of Tevin Campbell.
So you know I had to go & listen to his "Brown- Eyed Girl" song.
There is absolutely zero similarities between Van Morrison's & Tevin Campbell's.
Though, I admit listening to Tevin Campbell's put a big smile on face so thank you, Miss BrandyBerry for introducing to a new artist & song (and a really ridiculously good one at that 😊; VERY '90's R&B/ Soul vibe. I LOVE 💖)
Okay, so a little back story: My Mom has green eyes & they're an unusual green at that, very pretty/ striking.
My Dad had brown eyes and I got his brown eyes. When I was a young teen (I'm talking 12- 14 years old here) I said something that in hindsight was kinda rude. I complained that my brown eyes were "boring" and that I wished I'd gotten my Mom's "pretty green eyes".
My Mom was of the opinion that brown eyes were very attractive. The most attractive. (Obviously, she was of that opinion because she married a guy with brown eyes).
My Dad heard me and played me this song and said, "If girls with brown eyes were "boring" why would there a song written about girls with brown eyes?"
He was being a total Dad and trying to uplift me. Well, long story short, from that day forward this song had special meaning to me.
    So there you have it!
Thank you SO much for this! This was truly unexpected!
You are one of a kind, Miss BrandyBerry 💖💙💜
    Thank you so much (again).
Peace ✌, light 🌞, & love 💖 to you & yours & to one & all here as well!

Awwn I love that for you! I can relate to not appreciating my brown eyes around the same age a well when I would come across hazel or greyish looking eyes, but over time I grew to love and adore my eyes. I call them honey puddles. I love them!!! Peace and Blessings to you and yours happy to introduce a new artist to you! 💗💗💗💗
