WHAT an Idiot! Looking Drunk🤣
Thermic car have an average life of 28 years. That's because some are throwed away when old, elsewhere it would be more than 30 years. And their life expectancy is not 100k to 150k miles, but 150k to 300k miles. When battery is dead, the car is thrown away. Sometimes before 100k miles. Northvolt doesn't really recycle EV batteries, it bankrupt. No one does it. It's not a sustainable business today, maybe it will be tomorrow. EV cars are worse in countries such as Germany where electricity has a huge carbon impact. Not in France or in Québec. Coal or lignite are a problem! In Québec's winter, autonomy is half what the car and manufacturer pretend. Many choose to not heat their car because it's impacting autonomy too much! Recent EV now have more fire than 14-year old average thermic cars, and moreover they are way more dangerous. What will happens if they get to 14 or 20 years usage?!? Your myths are not, it's reality. And it's harsh!
Pot kettle black... Mileage myth? My last two diesels did 430,000 miles and 300,000 miles. Both were running perfectly and bodywork was pristine. Your bodywork claim is bullshit.
You must have looked after them, most end up as scrap before they hit 100,000
@@Grumpydadwithtech are you smoking ? every ICE car does at least 200 000 miles, not with one owner of course... but with EV's on 100 000 miles you can start replacing the batery
I’m afraid this video is blatant greenwashing, please be truthful, it’s almost as if your trying to convince yourself but know that your not being totally honest.
try 430000 miles for this tesla and still working... still has 72% battery life as well ruclips.net/video/2HlyQy9WRlc/видео.html
What car made it car of the year 2 years in a row.
the reason you do not notice as much the difference in miles due to cold in a petrol car... simple since they are so much less efficient to start with the extra to heat the car and such is a smaller percentage per mile. also Electric needs to heat its battery. you can minimize this when home charging by heating the interior and such while still pugged in
EVangilist! ;-) hahaha, good one! Satire :-)
"Battery lasts between 10 - 20 years" ... crazy statement. That is a ridiculous range and down to luck... not a design parameter.
I must have been really lucky then to own an EV for 12 years and 120'000 miles that showed no significant range loss, BTW when I sold it I got 1/3rd of the price I paid and its still going today with zero issues
@AndyGardner-z6e yes you were; and nearer 10 than 20
@@AndyGardner-z6e i am really lucky as well.. my 2015 leaf is still showing 11 out of its 12 bars.... it will probably out last me 🙂
@@jimmoriarty9714 do not count on it, my 8 years old one lost 60% of capacity,
In Thailand MG is providing a lifetime warranty for the controllers, motors and battery for their EV models. Show me an ICE car manufacturer that warranties it's drive train for life.
7:30 The reason why you don't hear about petrol fires is that they only happen when a car crashes, the fire dept comes along and puts it out and it's no big deal. When an EV catches fire it can happen spontaneously and requires a lot of special equipment because the fire can last for days. An EV fire can go from mild smoke to a blazing furnace in a few seconds, a thing that simply does not happen to petrol. If your petrol car catches fire it's extremely rare that you cannot simply exit the vehicle in time to be safe. In an EV you potentially have literally just seconds The problem is not THAT an EV can catch fire, anything can catch fire. The problem is the speed at which the fire grows, the heat it produces and the fact that it cannot be put out. Your counter arguments sound A LOT like marketing, fanfiction and propaganda and VERY little like actually well researched facts. I mean, the fact that you blame news about EV fires on the news being anti-EV propaganda betrays your lack of honesty here.
LMAO...... Tell that to a Vauxhall Zaffira owner
@@AndyGardner-z6e Good point, but the thing is you Do Remember those incidents because they were unusual for an ICE car and rightly in the news, as 70% of ICE fires are deliberate arson by joy riders and insurance claimants and so don't get reported. The trouble with EV fires is that they are almost every manufacturer and model, from Porsche to GM to BYD because of their inherent battery runaway chemistry issues, and not limited to a component batch issue with, I believe, a heater rheostat and pollen filter on one manufacturer as with the Vauxhall issue. Until battery technology changes the incidents will continue to increase and we will get another Tesla Lisbon airport fire type incident but where sadly many people are involved rather than just cars.
petrol and diesel cars can catch fire if a hose blows in the engine bay. Remember the firewall that the dash board is bolted to is called that for no other reason to protect the passengers from the fire in the engine bay
@@peterexner5979 A petrol hose blow could cause a fire if the fuel vapour sees a spark, although diesel is pretty difficult to set alight if you try to do it. But ICE cars only tend to explode in Hollywood movie crashes, not when parked on drives. I have owned 43 cars in 55 years of driving over 25,000 miles a year, and never had a car fire. As you have mentioned firewall bulkheads can you explain why GM have been allowed to make their Jeep EV design where the top of the battery is the rear seat floor? No wonder they have recalled them!
cars in 20 years will do more like 400 000 miles / 500 000 km, so the battery is not enough another point is that anything tied to battery has to be done in specialized shop, it can not be done in your own garage and more to the point, look how long will the battery degrade after 8 years, you have to basically completely replace it, and who wants to invest 10 - 15 000 into a 8-10 year old car ? nobody, so that is the whole point, it is currently not as economically effective as ICE cars when looking at the 20 year cycle, it might make sense for the owner(s) in first 8 years of life but then the car is worthless
This deserves more views. If there is one that absolutely puzzles me is the Environment part. How stupid can one be to believe that from extraction in middle of the sea or in some remote area, transporting oil by sea and then refining the stuff in a facility the size of a small town that runs on ELECTRICITY (made from burning oil), only to then load it on trains and move it to storage and petrol stations... is less polluting than modern battery tech.
Most people dont understand the whole supply chain for petrol, they just see it at the pump
@filippxx much better then to mine then build the 100kWh battey.... only to charge it using fossil fuel generation if electricity
@@jimmys6566 Classic misinformation. Let’s back up. Say you want to move to sustainable energy production. Then somebody like you would pipe up and say “that won’t work cause one of the biggest users of oil are cars”. So, we started with creating EV’s...moving everything else to sustainable energy is a no-brainer, since most (other) things run on electricity anyway. Now somebody like you pipes up and says, well the power grid won’t support all that extra electricity. And of course the answer is that distributed solar energy production (on available rooftops) will provide more electricity than all the cars combined actually reducing the net load on the grid, and saving money for the individuals with rooftop solar (which is why Tesla bought Solar City way back). Probably should point out that EV’s themselves (certainly Teslas) are much cheaper to run per mile than an ICE car and will last twice as many miles. Stop listening to Right Wing propaganda and educate yourself! (although now that you people voted in Trump, hard to say whether it matters).
@@johncahill3644 that is not the case, EV's just bring the polution out of towns to somewhere else, Solar is very unreliable, and our electric grid was not build to be actually able to use all the possible amount generated on sunny days on an mass scale, EV needs 4 times the ammount of rare minerals than ICE, car, and when you see how is the charging stations supplied in remote areas by an diesel electric generator, you start to see there is still a lot to be done before it would really be enviromentally friendly, EV's work if you charge it at your house from your solar and drive daily only on that charge, the charging station prices are really pricey in some areas compared to even home electricity price. That is the point here, and another issue is, if you check how much rare minerals are available, world wide, we would need something like 4 times the volume, to be able to build a fleet of EV's every year, to replace in 20 years, the current ICE cars. So a mass adaption of EV's for everybody has still multiple issues to be solved, before it would make economic sense for all in all cases,
Great video, but I'm still liking my diesel truck, ain't buying a electric truck
Just so you are clear, it doesn't add length to your tinky winky.
@atleyri this doesn't acount for the well documented degredation of other EV's like i pace, id3 ( look at battery life channel, 10% degradation at 2 years on the id3 ) all modern EV's with modern chemistries, modern cooling and battery management. The fact of the matter is all batteries degrade with time and use cycles, some more, some less, whereas ice cars don't. The fuel tank is the same after decades sometimes and very cheap comparatively to replace if it doesn't last. I owned a 1977 mgb roadster in chartreusse RVN 564 R if you want to look it up on tax checker, it is still on the road 47 years after manufacture. I also own several other vehicles, two of which are a 20 year old Mazda MX5 and a 17 year old Mercedes E Class avant-garde diesel. Both cars work perfectly, the ranges are as new with the Mercedes being 650 miles brimmed at highway speeds and there is no 80% recharging limit for longevity on it either. No comparrison to my EV, which is degrading fast and at some point will not be economically viable to repair. Even if my EV is a degradation outlier on a standard deviation graph, it is certainly not a myth or the only one. I have put the reply here because it got scrubbed out on the thread.
Who’s paying this guy ??
First point is they do last BUT also degrade with use and time. Over 3 years you will see up to 10% drop in range no matter how you charge. Rapid charging will degrade the batteries faster. Replacement batteries within the 8 year warranty are recycled batteries so NOT new ones and only warrantied for the original 8 years even if replaced at year 7. EV's have no emissions BUT the electricity used to charge them is from burning gas or coal in many countries. Cobalt is used to make petrol in the refining process as well. Lithium batteries can catch fire or fail and recently a German electric fire engine on charge burnt the fire station down. Remember the issues Boeing had with battery fires on their aircraft caused by batteries as well as Galaxy phones ? Lithium batteries are more likely to fail due to excessive heat from charging too fast. If you can't charge at home an EV is more expensive to run compared to a petrol car and insurance is higher.

My 30 kwhr EV has now lost 5 battery bars out of 12 ( 42%) degradation and an equivelent loss of range in 8 3/4 years and circa 40 k miles. My EV myth is outside my house on my driveway, a pretty inconvenient fact actually.
The Leaf has a very bad battery design! Lacks battery cooling. Fryes the battery and results in high degradation.. Lacks possibility to stop charing at 80% for daily use: The battery is charged at 100% almost alle the time. This hurts the battery severely.
@atleyri this doesn't acount for the well documented degredation of other EV's like i pace, id3 ( look at battery life channel, 10% degradation at 2 years on the id3 ) all modern EV's with modern chemistries, modern cooling and battery management. You bought the WORST EV in the 30kWh LEAF, my old 24kWh eNV-200 at 6 years old still hadn't lost a single bar. Maybe the fact they put battery cooling in the van and not the car was the reason and that everyone now builds with battery management systems
@@FredFox-m9v Nissan leaf... costs £23,000 to replace the battery
@jimmys6566 They are selling brand new 39 kwhr Tekna Leafs ( the whole car ) on autotrader for £18760. N Connecta's are even cheaper lol.
Sorry .. you really do not know what your talking about. It appears your a poster boy for some EV manufacturer maybe ... but if you take the time to really look into all of this, your way off target. For example, battery life is on average around 5 years based on current market feedback. Yes sure .. a battery may last 10 years, but its capacity is at a point that makes it 'travelling range' completely useless. Regards fires ... there is stats of how many cars in China catch fire EVERY DAY. It is a problem. The media will not report it .. or plainly lie about it. There is an agenda at work. Yes .. environmentally friendly to some extent. The EV needs to work and last a certain number of years before it breaks even with petrol. Currently, the battery does not allow this break even point to be achieved really.
My EV started to lose battery bars at about 5 years old, now lost 5 out of 12 at nearly 9 years old.
Where do you get your information that batteries only last 5 years? Most manufactures have an 8 years warranty. Have you ever seen an EV on fire in real life I haven't. I did a freedom of information request to BMW about how many i3's had gone on fire worldwide and the answer was 11- very low.
@jimf4748 My EV started to lose battery bars at 5 years old, it is now 8 3/4 years old and has lost 5 out of 12, with only circa 40 k miles covered. Read the warranties, they are only 'at manufacturer's discretion ', with degradation on mine they would only bring it back to 9 battery bars by replacing / repairing cells, not a new battery. It would have had to be regularly serviced all it's life, including a battery health check and a battery health check upon presentation at your expense for warranty claims or they can just riggle out.
You're spouting utter BS. Plenty of high mileage EV's with over 2/3/400k miles on original battery and motors. The great bit is that the batteries outlast the life of a vehicle and can then have a 2nd use as static storage, then finally recycled where 95%+ can be recycled. How much burnt fuel can be recycled?
@@FredFox-m9v When I sold my 24kwh Leaf at 7 years old it still had 12 out of 12 bars. It was rarely rapid charged. Mine was serviced at a Nissan dealer from new. I think Leafs are the worst for degradation
Keep drinking 🚰 the koolaid bro.
Sorry, but you can’t relay debunk myths just by storytelling. Like, the high voltage battery in my VW GTE had to be replaced after one year - which story does that tells. Non, would be my guess - we need bigger data. Not just one’s own conviction. Zero emission is still only locally lower pollution - just be honest about exporting parts of your emissions.
Ev batteries are designed to work for 10 to 20 years. But some don’t like in your case.
My VW GTI lasted 2 months and the engine needed to be replaced, then 1 month later the gearbox. I argued my case and got a new replacement, this had a water pump issue, it then had an oil leak, actually it had oil leaks continually. Petrol cars are terrible are they not.
@@tigertoo01 say who?
@@simonwiltshire7089 you know who. I just said it lol 😂
So it was covered under warranty. Nice.
More people should know this for a better EV adoption.
Mate…it doesn’t matter how good it is. It’s from China. Stop feeding the dragon. Very simple.
When ice cars first started to become available to average income families there were similar concerns. The model T came out in 1908, gas stations weren’t ubiquitous until late teens early 20’s. It’s just noise from ignorance fueled by fear of change. Ignore it as it will eventually go away.
Ordered them also for my MG4 Electric Luxury Line Long Range (i think its called Trophy in the UK). Perfect car, loving it every, but indeed a bit dark at night.
I currently have an MG4 Trophy and am an early adopter. The biggest issue with these cars are really three or four things: 1) Quality Control Variance 2) That safety system... 3) No Heatpump in the UK/range is very rarely anywhere near the projections, especially in winter, to the point my one in the recent cold weather has barely been hitting around 150 miles before its charge out. In warmer weather sometimes with a bit of luck you can get reasonable economy, but compared to several other electrics I've driven, the MG is quite poor. 4) MG garage/aftermarket support in the UK can be REALLY poor. This is all compounded by the fact the originally promised OTA updates never materialised, meaning that without finding a good garage and haranguing them for updates, you cannot guarantee everything is up to date. My mobile app didn't work properly for the best part of a year due to this, as the local garages, when I COULD get them to update it, couldn't get all the modules updated properly so there was a desync between modules in the car. Unfortunately the quality control variation seems to have really heavily hit a number of people, with sometimes damage out the factory, warped panels, safety systems that are impossible to accurately calibrate or just other random flaws; it seems very likely they are using different components or different component/model variations, as the sheer variability between these cars is pretty wild. Probably one of the reasons why they did a small facelift update only 6-12 months into the car being released here. My model has unfortunately played up since day 1, some of the issues have been helped by updates, but after 5+ garage/update visits, and a lot of headache, my model was sent for an independent inspection, and was subsequently found to be seriously flawed and rejected by the finance company. If you've got an MG4 that plays nicely, great, its a fun car with a generally nice drive, but as per the Which Report, the safety systems on this car can be erratic and unexplained (even when the features are off, sometimes they just randomly kick in, I've had a number of random instances of phantom breaking for example), and this isnt the first time I've heard the car is picking up a generally bad reputation, as it seems like you get a good one...or a clanger. That does mean some pretty wild offers on new ones are starting to materialise, but it's very much a russian roulette! To put it into perspective though, the garage I bought my MG from no longer even runs an MG franchise; albeit they're still alive for other cars, they just binned off the MG side. At the standard price now for an MG4 Trophy in the UK, I'd be looking at a BYD Dolphin (Design) instead, its more efficient in the real world, actually gets OTA updates, does similar range, has a heatpump so it won't tank so badly in winter, similar levels of kit otherwise and doesn't seem to be as hit and miss quality control wise; the fact they're doing 0% finance on the thing right now is also a real pro point, compared to the more average APR on the MGs. The BYD doesn't look as nice, but beyond that my genuine opinion is for the money its a better car. @Grumpydad - agreeing with you on the Tesla, to a degree they've lost focus. Almost went for a Model 3 as a replacement, but couldn't get on with the lack of a fixed indicator stalk. It sounds like a little thing, but having to work out where the indicator buttons currently are even for a split second if you're driving round amongst other places, London, in rush hour, it's just an extra hassle you do not need, and it was a step too far for me, as it's just slower to find if you're having to use it whilst the wheel is being turned, than an indicator stalk; and even if you get used to it, its either a momentary distraction when you don't need one, or worse, you do not find the right indicator.
None of that matters. You bought a chinese ev and are feeding the regime. That’s the big downside.
@Hello_there_obi Given that most of our electronics are built and put together in the east at this point, that's pretty irrelevant. Whether I buy from a Chinese company or not means diddly squit to them, but if I completely factor out China, I might as well become an Amish haha I mean big ol USA Tesla buys around 20-30% of its batteries from BYD, there simply isn't enough manufacturing capacity in the west right now.
@ not irrelevant at all. Buying Chinese cars boosts their car industry which they are investing heavily in and monopolising a lot of the rare earth minerals. And under deplorable conditions so there’s that on your conscience. If the world legitimises chinese evs, that’s a big blow to the western world. No two ways about it. Not to mention how much info they can gather on you! And there’s a colossal difference between buying components and buying into an actual brand. A brand is worth far more than the sum of its parts. That’s just basic economics and social science.

If youbtake their highestvrange model, the Enyak Coupe 85 L&K and punch in fall driving in urban settings, in eco mode, and keeping the cabin at a brisk 18C, sure you can get 363 miles (100-0)...But who road trips in a city? Take that same vehicle and take the family to a visit on the motorway in normal mode at a comfortable 21C cabin and suddenly youbget 180 miles estimated. But remember how that is 100-0 battery and you can onlyvfast charge 10-80 so that 180 gets cut by 10% for your first leg of the trip, and 30% for each additional leg... Meaning after the first 162 miles you stop for half an hour, then every 126 miles after that you are stopping for 30 minutes or more of there is a line at the chargers since everyone is travelling with the same issue for the holidays... Good luck. My little PHEV can go 600 miles, fill up in under 10 minutes and do 600 more and running heat doesn't noticeably affect the range.
How often do you 600 mile trips without stopping?
@Grumpydadwithtech without stopping, nearly never. When I do it, about every other weekend through from mid spring to mid fall, in my PHEV on a L2 charger and my stops are between 7-12 minutes every time. I go about 800km round trip, almost never have access to a charger when at the location. So my PHEV works wonders since I can plan the night before and be full and charged, and drive, work, drive back, without ever having to think about gas or range. An EV with 3 charging stops would turn that 12 and change hour day in to a 14 hour day and would make it just miserable.
CATL MGs battery maker has altered its battery warranty from 8yrs to 10yrs because they are lasting so well. Lifetime was a word used but its 10yrs. Cobalt is used in making high quality metals especially in the aviation industry and as you say every ltr of petrol we use is cleaned with it, even with the dreaded child labour, but we are never told about that. Child labour is used also in the choclate and coffee industry in the same African country so its time to give up your Cappachino and your choclate biscuits.
Come back in ten years time
Had my MG4 Blue Trophy for 21 months and just love it. It’s a great drive. No issues other than minor software issues as I was an early adopter. Software updates are gradually fixing the issues. I was lucky to get the light interior which makes a lot of difference to the interior light levels.
Liar. Just keep drinking the Koolaid while the rest of society moves on from the BS EV era.
Liar about what? All facts freely available
i think so, though it's not the best selling EV car in Indonesia, MG 4 EV is very unique in terms of design and the fact that it's an RWD vehicle. Most EV cars here are FWD.
My wife has had an MG ZS for 3 years with very little trouble. The infotainment system does the odd unplanned reboot. She just ordered an MG4 LR so were looking forward to giving it a good test and have days out a bit further afield with the extra range.
@@terryd8692 ive driven a zs for work and wasnt over keen on the laggy info screen, the mg4 is totally different
@@Grumpydadwithtech I was surprised to hear that the Trophy has live updates on the satnav. Any idea how it compares to Google maps and whether it'd be an acceptable alternative to android auto? First world problem of having to get your phone out of your pocket to use android auto 😄

I have MG4 51kwh, best accessory was Carkink A2A wireless Android adaptor, by the time I sit in my seat and belt up it has connected and ready to go with Android Auto. I charge at night with FREE electricity, and I can go around a 45km corner at 80km no worries. Try and do that with a BYD front wheel drive.

In Australia our most expensive public DC fast-chargers are about $A0.70/kWh so in the most expensive case you display, the EV would cost $A81.90. Our petrol price is about $A1.80/L at present, so the petrol car would cost ~ $A76. Close to the mark. However our retail price for petrol has been up to $2.10/L not long ago, and in rural districts the price is often higher as well, so these will all work to make petrol more costly over time.
I am charging my EV (Ioniq 6) at home right now (midday) for $A0.00/kWh, thanks to the negative wholesale electricity prices as a result of the amount of rooftop solar in the grid. That allows my power company to give me this rate from 12noon to 2pm. Alternately from midnight to 6am I can charge for $A0.08c/kWh. SO easy to charge the car and do a 300km trip for next to no cost. Maybe $A2.40 if I charge it overnight at home.
@@petesig93 great to hear, others have said what a good system there is down under
You are on a mission. You are so biased. Charge to 80%, how is your range then?
@@carlsoderquist5954 about 160miles give or take
@Grumpydadwithtech Well, according to your claim the range was about 300 miles. Ev:s are the future. But most of them are not brilliant on long trips. Especially in winter time. Normally you want to be at 20-80%.
@ mines 200 max, mines only 51kwh, many higher ones do a lot more.
@Grumpydadwithtech in winter time 2kWh/10 km or more is normal. If you have 100kWh and go from 20 to 80% you can go about 300 km. A little less than 200 miles. As I said. They are the future but they are still not really fit for long trips.
With 3 you lost. energy is getting greener? "green energy" that you just described is as green as Canadian bitumen.
Wind, solar, tidal, nuclear, all green
Hopefully all ev s will have a range of 1000 miles very soon, I might get one then.
And also hopefully resale values will improve soon also.
Do you often drive 1000 miles without a break ? Personally I need to stop after 200 miles due to needing to use the bathroom, grab a coffee/something to eat, in that time my Tesla has added another 200 miles of range, it is quite capable of covering 280 miles at 70-80 MPH but anyone that says they need to drive 1000 miles without a stop is either a fool or a fibber
@@stevehayward1854 Ev fans are missing the point. Sometimes you want to rest were YOU prefer. NOT at a parking spot with chargers.
@@stevehayward1854 Most people dont drive 1000 without a stop, but they need to stay less to a charging station. This is a problem if you live in a big city with alot of electric cars and to little time to way. You need more time to charge an electric car than to fill it with gas. More battery => less time spent charging => less anxiety for travel in regions without charging stations.
Wow you get 1000 miles from your car and can drive a 1000 miles none stop!!!!
MG Lifetime warranty excludes the battery 3 years or 60K which ever comes first.
How does your MG4 EV have a lifetime warranty, mine doesn't , it had a 7 year warranty? Don't forget about cold weather and the 33% reduction in range. Don't forget about exorbitant costs at public chargers. I have been driving an Ev for 12 years and there's a lot you don't mention or misrepresent. it's not about forecourts but about pump nozzle numbers which equate to chargers.
The lifetime guarantee only came out recently
I drive Honda diesel, i have range about 1200 km with one tank (55L). And making breakes when and if i need it, not if car need it to charge. About environment, one EV to be produced is making same amount of CO2 as one diesel engine after being produced and driven 80000km. And green energy, or wind turbines are supported with diesel engines. And even like that are not able to produce not even close energy for all EVs. Try to convince me in few years again

@ianrob4760 well idk in miles, gallons, etc.. it's Honda Accord 7, Year 2005, 2.2 cdti, 140 HP, 6 gear manual transmission. It has at the moment 285 tkm and running like new. And no I'm not Bot

Interesting statements right there. I've been driving a very expensive electric scooter and I can tell you the batteries aren't some magic pixie dust. I never charge them over 70%, nor use fast charging to extend the life span, yet in 2 years I'm down to half the range I had. Last time I had a detailed look into EV battery life in 2019, there wasn't many battery packs on a large sedan+ vehicle with over 150 000miles because they failed before that point and you must have them live 250 000 miles to accommodate for 1-2 tons of battery emissions. Can you show us the data to prove your statements? Also, the "running cost myth busting" isn't really busting. It's just a subsidy. The society pays your bill, it doesn't mean there is no bill to be paid. The UK has sky-high energy prices because of the Eco-Fascist craze and Russia's invasion. In my opinion, the UK needs to adopt the Dutch model of having 40-50% people using a bicycle for commute, it's both cheaper and healthier, also, it gives children a large degree of independence.
A scooter battery is more similar to a phone battery than an ev one
Built to different standards
Gosh you mean they dont spend millions on designing a $600 scooter battery to make it last decades like they do for a $45,000 car? Hard to picture, practically the same thing.

As usual, complete nonsense. 1. Range. Try to run your ev outside of US. Feel the pain. 2. Batteries. Check replacement price for any huyndai. And how often do they replays batteries after minor damage. 3. Another idiotic statement. Vast majority of energy worldwide is from coal/gas. 4. No any charging stations around the world outside of us. And almost 0 charging stations are installed where most people actually park their cars. I.e. in the cities next to actual multi flat buildings. 5. Another myth by idiot. Look at any insurance policy. It is much more expensive for ev.
@@a12com as ive said this is based in the UK where I live. @@Grumpydadwithtech So, you've chosen one of the richest countries in the world, one with very mild climate and extra low average milage. Ok. Lets compare numbers in the UK: Average car sold in UK cost 35k. Average EV car sold in UK cost 46K. Ok, lets go for autotrader and check some used prices. Average tesla model 3 2021 is about 20k. New one (long range 2wd) - 45. 2021 Skoda Superb 17k. New one 35. Both recently updated, so we're comparing apples to apples. I never visited UK, but spent 15 minutes in google and found out that average (for the price of the car) EV costs 30% more to buy and depreciates almost 40% more. And back to the question about charging stations. You mentioned 10+36k charging stations in UK. Thats for 1.3M cars. Do you know how many petrol stations in UK total? According to google less then 9k. Total. For more then 32M cars, all commercial vehicles and everything else. And still it is not even 1 per parking spot on average. And parking spots are the places where you'd actually want to charge your car since it takes dozens of minutes at best and hours in real life. And you need to hope that previous person is somewhere close to his car to unplug it asap. And back to cost again, another 10 minutes in google + 5 in calculator. Tesla model 3 consumes around 25kw/100 miles. Which will cost (according to gridservice) from 12 to 20. No idea why there are 2 prices there. Average car with 33 mpg will be 17. Which accidentally is almost average for EV. So even in the such conditions it is not a solution to anything.
My 2 year old EV costs $US500 a year for full insurance. I have never had a problem charging it. My last road trip was 1000 miles return, one way in an EV and one way in a gas car. The trip in the EV took 1 hour longer but cost half as much.
@@gpsfinancial6988 My last 1000 miles trip was from the north to the south of Turkey. IDK if it is even possible in an EV. This is how 90% of world looks like.
Hi mate Ev's are ok just not for me. the cost to get one just to expensive.
That is the main issue, initial outlay. Once manufacturers go full ev production the prices will come down, atm they are in limbo as governments cant decide on anything.
