Sail Meridian
Добавлен 19 апр 2015
A passion for traveling, a love of adventure, and the desire to experience it all from the unknowing open ocean
Taking an opportunity of a lifetime, I'm sailing with my parents down the Pacific Coast, through the Panama Canal, and over to the Caribbean (at least that's the plan for now)- all while learning the interesting dynamics of living in a tight-knit space with one another. We've had fun, arguments, laughed, disagreements, excitement, chaos, and challenges; but through it all we have continued to stick together, love and support each other. No one's been pushed overboard anyhow.... yet.
With this RUclips Channel, I hope to post more videos of our journey for your viewing pleasure.

Wreck Diving in Grenada
There's a sense of mystery, eeriness, and curiosity in wreck diving that gives you a thrill. As you explore the wreck, you can't help but imagine how this massive structure once was when it was up and running with people from all walks of life aboard. I put together this short compilation video of my wreck diving in Grenada. Maybe you too will feel a sense of awe seeing them.
- Shakem Wreck is at a depth of 100' (30m)
- Hema 1 Wreck is also around 100' (30m)
- Bianca C Wreck is as deep as 140' (42m), and I dove to 116' (35m)

Our Adventure down Panama's Pacific Coast

Sailing down the Pacific Coast of Panama brought us a lot of excitement- some less wanted than others. We had a rough ride into the Gulf of Panama, but we're high on adrenaline and joy that we accomplished it.

I'm ready to get started at Moran Towing! I'm working on getting my MMC right now, I've got my TWIC Card and physical but I've got some paperwork that has to be done over and notarized. Then the wait begins. I've already got my STCW Course done too! I'm ready to get started. 🇺🇸⚓️⛴
Love those Z-Drive Tractor Tugs!!
It really doesn't need the music because what's being shown is so larger than life.
What kak music
Why all the music?
Great vlog , thanks !
Hi

You can’t even pay attention to the video because of suck ass music.
Music is appalling and completely unnecessary. An interesting video ruined by crappy muzak. Why?

Tug boat experience is useful to join big ship?
Suck music dude....

Mute the sound and it is a cool video.

The "new" Canal Locks use tugboats INSTEAD OF the "electric mules" of the old locks? Correct?

Great Vid. Thank you so much ! ! !
How beautiful you are!!! (if that's you the girl that's filming... haha) PS: don't worry about the music, it's kinda a happy one
I must admit that I turned off the sound, but that didn't matter. That was a really cool adventure and the pictures and editing were superb. I have always been fascinated with tugboats and also with the Panama Canal so this was truly a special treat. Thanks so much for sharing it.
I just turned off the audio and enjoyed the visuals. They are great. I am a grown up.
It is a shame but most decent video's concerning anything mechanical have to have some idiots idea of appropriate music, to a great many people the engine and machinery sounds are music in their own right unfortunately the producers of such video's rarely if ever actually know that, live television is worse, witness both British television channels during the first public running of the only new mainline steam loco. built for over 50 years, BBC male presenter "lets just listen as she steams out of the station" the driver opened the regulator and one chuff later the female presenter started giving us a history lesson , whilst a never to be repeated bit of history was drowned out by her inane and unnecessary waffle.
First of all, it's unnecessary to refer to me or anyone else that has worked hard to put something together (whether you like it or not) an idiot. Secondly, unfortunately I don't have the professional equipment to pick up such treasured acoustics. Therefore, those desired sounds did not record clearly on my basic equipment. Please respect that I am only an amateur that put this together for fun, not for name calling or harsh criticism. My apologies if it didn't meet your qualifications. I'll bear it in mind next time.
Sorry if I offended you that was never My intention I was responding to the previous post, I realise that you take a lot of trouble to record your video and I thank you for it, My comment was directed elsewhere, The trouble is that those with access to the best quality audio / visual recording equipment seem to believe that canned music or verbal waffle should replace the ambient sounds from, railways, ships, heavy haulage trucks and all types of mechanical things in action, why send a crew to record the thing working then overdub the sound ? are sound crews that expensive that TV companies cannot afford to get the sound to match the action? Watch any professional production from any country and as soon as the star of the show starts to perform we get inappropriate music, even though the cost of the actual sound cannot be that different, its as if every producer of such things has an idiot nephew in the music business, and they are forced by the family to give the nephew a job, once again it was not my intention to offend you !! without people like you we would get even less video on such things as we are considered a minority market.
Sail Meridian hey man. Screw them. I loved it
Me Too
Love the music f the grumpy old farts club.
I link your video on my facebook profile ..like example for a marvellous adventure!! I'm with you!!
Did you all rent the lines or did you purchase your own dock lines for this journey? If the later, please post the lengths and how you all approached the canal dock line requirement? Would be interested!!
+SY Explorar Conmigo Our agent provided the lines and tires / fenders, which was included in the total cost. Unfortunately I don't know the length of the lines, but they are very very LONG! My understanding is most agents provide the lines. If you don't use an agent, you can rent them.
What was the current fee for the rental in USD?? If that's not too personal to ask on the web these days.... Lol.... I ask because I hear Canal is getting more and more expensive each year... New fees + new rules
how much does it cost to go through Panama Canal?
+Vadim Shipovskiy We used an agent to go through the Panama Canal, so how much each individual cost is I can't say. The agent's fee included checking into Panama, 1 year cruising permit, the Canal transit, lines and fenders. Our sailboat is 48' LOA however they measure from the very tip to the very end (ie: tip of the anchor to end of the arch / solar panels / dinghy, whatever extends out the furthest) which put us at 53'. Putting our cost around $3,000. If your vessel is less than 50' then you can deduct approximately $800. I hope that helps!
Well done guys ! Looks like it is very industrial strength (better than you could buy off the shelf) How did it hold up in the weather?
+stediasse Thank you! All materials are from SailRite and it's held up very nicely. Of course it gets taken down while underway and if we have enough advanced notice we'll take it down during rough weather. But it's been through some high winds and heavy rain and we haven't had to make any repairs yet :)
