Should have been out working on the truck today but I'm not feeling too great. I decided to stay home, keep warm and do some recording instead... I got Steve's 6122 Jr and my Rickenbacker 360 out for something simple - The title track of the Tom Hanks movie 'That Thing You Do'.

"Dooo, dooo, dooo, Lookin' Out My Back Door.... " This has always been one of my favourite songs and I've always wanted to record it. Unfortunately, I never did find a backing track but, with some new tools, I've been able to put something together. 3 guitar tracks in this one using a Les Paul 50s Standard with P90s, a Les Paul R8 and the '62 MIJ Tele!

From Tom Petty yesterday to my second favourite band (CCR) today! I got to see John Fogerty in London back in May and it was easily the best live gig I've every been to. Decided to re-record something that I'd played a few years ago as I can play it much better now and it was the perfect excuse for the Gold Top to make it's first appearance on the channel... Green River!

Without doubt, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers are my favourite band and Mike Campbell is right up there with the best guitarists in the world, in my opinion. I recorded this a long time ago and was never happy with it so It never saw the light of day. It was great to revisit it tonight and have another go... Now I want to play it live!

Continuing my challenge to learn something new every day - The Kooks - She Moves In Her Own Way. Thisnone has been on the bucket list for a while so I finally sat down and figured it out. Great song! There isn't a great deal going on in the first verse but some intricate parts later and the solo is fun!

Started learning this tonight. Onto the first solo tomorrow!

A family friend (Steve) taught me to play this song when I was about 8 and I've loved playing it ever since. Earlier this year, We acquired this Rickenbacker 360-12 V64 and this felt like the perfect track to try it out! This is the version performed by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers at the 'Concert for George'.
