Meme on Minecraft all you want, but there’s clearly something in there to be one of the best selling and most influential games of all time of our generation. Can another game do sandbox better? Absolutely. Can another game do RPG mechanics better? Absolutely. Can another game be more accessible and appealing? Absolutely. And yet somehow Minecraft catches the eye of kids, adults, everyone. And THAT’S why I think it deserves its spot in Smash Bros. It’s the definition of a timeless game.
