While shooting a documentary, often we may not have the luxury to take our time to set up lights such as a soft box, a background light casting a rim light on the subject or even setting up a boom or a shotgun microphone to capture the audio because the interviewee has only given us 10 to 15 minutes of his time and we want to as many bytes as possible from the subject. How did you learn this for yourself?
We were working on our own series before COVID hit us and work stalled, The studio we worked in used Fusion for almost 15 years. I learned everything while working on my animated series you can watch it here ruclips.net/p/PLlp5UJCMEw4N5hRtTQWbMWUFyE-xN34DU&si=v4GSQQTMLTeyD7Am
Thank you
🙏
I really appreciate your tutorials. You're covering topics in Fusion that don't get addressed often.
I'm glad to hear that.
Very nicely explained ❤❤
Thanks a lot 😊
wow you getting better and better at speaking to camera and its hard to find in depth tuts for fusion like this thanks and have you used variblur? or depth defocus is more better?
Awesome, thank you!
They are both tools. I use Variblur when required but in this case, I used Depth Defocus.

Thank you for this video explaining the import/export of EDL and CSV files from DVR to NUENDO. For what specific purposes do you use NUENDO? What kinds of video/audio projects do you work on that you find Fairlight is not robust enough for your purposes. When do you know that you’ll be using NUENDO?
Hi thanks for watching, we use Nuendo mainly for Film, Documentary and Animation, especially for Dialogue, SFX and SoundDesign. Fairlight is quite capable when it comes to Dialogue and Mixing but lacks midi and instrumentation and advance sound manipulation tools. We usually start in Fairlight using stock effects to approximate the SoundDesign and then move to Nuendo to create and design our own unique sound. Once done we return to fairlight with all the stems, and do the final mixing and finishing in it.
Thank you for the response and indeed great video, but I'm a bit confused with the direction of your answer, firstly you mentioned that Fairlight is capable in dialogue & mixing but to be honest Nuendo has a robust and arguably advance Dialogue & mixing workflow than Fairlight resolve and not to forget integrated ADR System, here I'm a bit confused on your specific use case on choosing resolve over Nuendo. The other part of your answer which is more of Sound design workflow seems more like a personal preference and Nuendo also has an integrated library if someone prefers.
@@northernstar5658 Hi it is indeed quite a capable system and has a solid ADR workflow which we have covered in detail.. here: Complete ADR workflow in Fairlight | DaVinci Resolve 19 ruclips.net/video/13k6_arL6UA/видео.html and here is a snapshot of how we go about gain staging in Nuendo once we have edit locked the timeline in Resolve and exported it to Nuendo: ruclips.net/video/fC2GxMesHyU/видео.htmlsi=LLKcipDkrmPHQ3Jg , and
Dear Anagha, your explaination was really thorough and complete. Thank you SO MUCH, because you allowed me to better understand the fundamentals of such a complicated program. I really hope to see you again soon at work on Spectralayers with your clear and precise explanations. Best, Marco

Sir, how can i enable HiQ,HB,....Buttons. By default its don't show in fusion page and I have been trying for a long time but i can't do it, plz give me a hint🙏
Hello @digvijaychaubey9522, there is a way to access them in DaVinci Resolve's fusion page. Right-click in the bar where you will find the transport controls (the play-pause buttons). Now, in the dropdown list, you will find the HIQ, MB, ...., etc. I hope this helps.
Sir, In this way for enable or disable Proxy,HB,HiQ... it feel some irritation with right click again and again. so i want to set these buttons like you@@darkwhite_productions
There is a slight difference between Blackmagic Fusion Standalone and the Fusion page built into Davinci Resolve. So, it may be that they have not provided the buttons because of the Resolve architecture. I would suggest that for most motion graphics, compositing, or VFX work, you should try Fusion standalone and then export the final output to Davinci Resolve. I hope this helps. 🙂
A master series tutorial! Thank you. Subbed.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks
GREAT TUT BRO
Thanks
Great tutorial :)

dude its amazing that i found your channel. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video. Can u also make a video where you explain using light groups and shader AOVs and how to use with other passes in fusion as well ? And also a little explanation on what Premultipying means
Yes sure weI can, though our next episode would be on Cryptomatte which will wrap up advance AOV’s (ZDepth, World Position, Normals, and Cryptomatte).
Great Channel, with very clear explanations and quality presentation !!
Thank you! 😊
wow very great tutorial . new and indepth tuts like this is what missing from fusion even though its workflow is better than both nuke and after effects with kickass particle system. but they should improve pbounce and keep doing amazing work and try to make ae to fusion or nuke to fusion tuts that way more people should watch and use fusion. and as more plugins becomes aviable ill ditch nuke and AE completely. and your presented and teaching style is very good, Professional, and easy to understand although you can be more excited. specialy in intros in think and please letmeknow if i can help you somehow. i know little bit coding too might make some script or anything🙌
Thanks for your kind words and hopefully collaborate in future too. Best Shashwat
great tutorial as always and how does fusion compares to nuke in deep compositing i have seen many people saying fusion isn't good for deep?
Fusion does not support OpenEXR 2.0 deep data though it internally has the buffers and raymarcher built in as seen when we use volume fog. There are some tricks to achieve the same which gives fine detailed shadows but it requires a little more effort. In part 2 we cover some more features and it should be online in a day or two.
Fusion doesn't have deep compositing. Deep compositing in Nuke is completely different from deep pixel in Fusion.
@@rano12321 if we displace an image plane 3d with displace node by depth map won't we get same thing as deep composting in nuke?
@@aman34587 Let me outline the differences between deep pixel and deep image compositing: Deep Pixel Compositing: • Works with 2D images, giving each pixel a single color and transparency value (like 50% for semi-transparent smoke). • This single value is calculated by averaging the full depth of the object. Deep Image Compositing: • Uses images that store multiple color and transparency values within each pixel, capturing details at different depths. • This means you can layer and blend elements based on their depth, making the final image look more realistic. Deep Compositing is a special format owned by Weta Digital, with some features available in Nuke software. Other tools like Fusion can achieve similar effects using Cryptomatte and Deep Pixel tools. Stay tuned for the next tutorial on Cryptomatte coming next weekend. Some advance features are outlined in part 2: Blender to Fusion | Advanced Introduction to Deep Pixel Compositing ruclips.net/video/ykOocvTdKDs/видео.html Best Shashwat
