Great teaching to think on today. I watch a couple of channels from the flooded areas of N.C. I have saw the love of many to help those people. The church stepped up in a mighty way. Help has started coming in from the government now, but it has been God's love that has been with them from the start. It has been so heartwarming to witness the love for fellow man. The need is still there, and will be for quite some time, but it is evident that God is with them, and he and his children will carry them through. Thank you both for doing these for us.

Do you have a recipe for the yeast rolls?

Well, it's 70 something here today and tomorrow is supposed to be in the low 80s which is SO super. We're going today to get seed potatoes and onion sets. Plan to put a few cold weather seeds in as well. I bought a little "greenhouse" from Amazon that is 36 x 70something and I'm going to put it over our seeds in our raised bed. It's really just an experiment as I'm sure we will have more bitter weather but I'm loving this weekend. I've never made applesauce before. I'll have to try it if I can find a good price on apples one day. Thanks for sharing. xoxDeb

The groundhog is yet to see his shadow here in my little part of southwest Virginia today. Cloudy and overcast. But this week sounds like it will be great with highs in the 50's and up to 60 for a few days. I'm here for it this year. I'm a winter lover, but the last 3 weeks of ice has just zapped my soul. I am hopeful for a good deep snow that will go away after a few days before winter is over. I just don't want it to pack down into ice that stays on the ground for weeks. Hope you have a great week ahead!

Your steak was GORGEOUS!!! Mike would have flown right over, lol. It's his fave. And Mexican food. I looked at Brenda Gantz cookbooks on Amazon and boy are they proud of them. The cheapest of 65.00 and went up to 150.00! Too rich for my blood. Good grief. I wish they had the Kindle variety. It would probably be too rich as well. I've got a bunch of cube steaks in the freezer. I usually use Pioneer Woman's recipe to make my, what we call, chicken fried steak. What a great meal. xoxDeb

Daniel and I were talking about adoption Tuesday. Joy is being adopted by God and made alive in Him. God took us from creature to child. I kind of jokingly compared it to the story of Pinocchio. Gipeto (I don't know how to spell that name) created a wooden puppet but through his love Pinocchio found life. And I guess the cricket represented the Holy Spirit. Soli Deo Gloria

I've been making a type of this soup for over 50 years. We call it Everything Soup. A childhood friend of mine used to make it. She and another friend all lived in the same apartment building. She was pretty specific on the recipe but over the years I tweaked to our family. I find all those little leftover bags of frozen vegetables in my freezer, anything in the fridge I can use and I always keep quart jars of leftover vegetables in the deep freeze and just add to them when we aren't going to eat the rest. I do add onion and use hamburger or stew meat. I add tomatoes (sometimes frozen from the garden) and usually some kind of pasta I need to use up. I just use everything and it never turns out just the same. My favorite seasoning to use on EVERYTHING is Kinders The Blend. It's just so good. That's so great your grandmother made it and showed you how. Mike is making burritos tonight with pinto beans we need to refry and use up. Sweet video. xoxDeb

When the latest freezing cold hit here in Ohio, it was time to make a big ol pot of vegetable soup. My mom always used cooked beef in hers… I’ve always used hamburger (and I like mine better…lol). When I was a young girl, my friend’s mother was the head of our school cafeteria. They made the best sloppy Joe’s. I asked her for the recipe one time and she taught me the trick to add water to the hamburger as it cooks. It will make the hamburger cook into a much finer crumb and you won’t get the “fried” texture you might with the meat touching the hot pan. Just recently my adult daughter was working in the school concession stand and was talking with a friend about making hot dog sauce. The friend told her “Your mom taught me to add water to the hamburger.” So cool to think the tip has been passed on.

I just made a pot of this today! We call it "School soup" because it's the soup that we had in the cafeteria when I was in school. My granny's sister worked in the cafeteria and when I was in high school, she shared with me how to make it. I wish I had a nickel for each pot that I have made in my lifetime. It freezes so well, and sometimes I will double it and can it. It's just a wonderful recipe that is so filling and goes a long way. My part of Virginia got down to 9 below, and that was not wind chill. Further west I saw temps of -24. Really cold. We are on a warmup now. Got up to 32 today...a heat wave!! LOL!

Oh my, gotta use a lot of cabbage..if you like cabbage..it's a game changer..and yes add the onion always...and celery too if you like it and yes always extra corn..the more the better..And definitely tomato juice always..we use roast beef..instead of hamburger..but I might try using hamburger the next time and your Granny is right..the slower and lower you cook it ..it will be better..and vegetable soup is like chili..it's always better the next day

I got lots of handwritten recipes from friends and relatives- magazine pages … you mention this too - I also want to put one recipe keeper to for my daughter- with only family favorites 😊- so glad your video showed up today- thanks 👍

Quit tempting me with that message board, lol!!! Excellent ideas. Being older now, I just don't handle the cold weather well at all. Mike gets out and walks his 4 miles and just says it's a bit cold out there! Winter was my favorite season until I was about 58 or so. I read a lot. I knit, crochet and sew and I love to bake in the winter. I got sick Monday night and haven't felt well at all so I've been a recliner slug. I've mostly watched TV since early Monday morning and for a change, it's been mostly uplifting. I don't watch TV. I watch YT. Can you give me a link to the walking channel, please? Yes! I am here for devotional videos. I watch Donna at Delightfully Southern Devotionals. I love her channel. The more the merrier for another devotional channel. We need more positivity on social media, instead of all the garbage that shows up in our feeds. We are living in crazy times, and I know I personally, I need to stay focused ahead on Jesus. Reading and listening/watching devotionals helps so much, in addition to, of course, reading my Bible everyday. ☺

I love having recipes on paper! Mine are out of control at the moment. I must purge before I can organize, of course. Every time I make a recipe that I've printed, I write the date I make it and any adjustments in a different color/date. (Does that make sense?) If I haven't made it in over a year, I discuss it with my spouse and make a note of it if it's kept. I have empty binders and document protectors now I have the motivation! Thanks for sharing! 👩‍🍳📑🗑

I did this a couple of years ago. I'm down to 2 recipe boxes, a big Christmas binder and a mini standing frame one that has all my favorites it's fallen apart. When I find it (we moved just before Thanksgiving) that may become a project for this winter. I have most recipes now online on Pinterest. If they ever close that down...😢😢😢😢!!!😮

I'm going to come steal that cutting board message thingy! Imagine being married going on 52 years. I love to collect cookbooks. Period. Mike would tell you I've got thousands (not true) and more recipes than I have time left on this earth to cook. Get this, I even have recipes from Home Ec in HIGH SCHOOL. I graduated in 1973 for crying out loud, lol. In addition to my 3 recipe boxes (one is double) I have 4 binders of recipes the latest of which are laying around doing nothing. But, I keep printing them off. I throw away the ones we don't like. You have spurred me on the work on all of my binders and weed out ones that sound great, but I will probably never use. I need to sit down at a table, watch RUclips videos on my computer and get to work. Of course there will be interruptions but I can't beat the chasing chicken one. That is priceless and I wish we had a video of those prissy girls. We have been starting to declutter our home. I was so proud of Mike. He got up in one of our attics this week and cleaned house. There is a lot more to do but he got it started. We found clothes for the boys (who are 42 and 44 now) their Care Bears big wheel (made me cry) but it had gotten too hot and fallen apart. I finally said don't show me anymore cause I was going through clothes and crying about other stuff. Gosh, I hate those days are gone. Well, this was long winded enough. As usual. I'll check out the recipe binders at Hobby Lobby if I ever go anywhere, lol. Great, motivational video. Thanks friend! xoxDeb

Hi Jenn! Newly subscribed here. I love all your winter decor that you’ve added to your home. It was especially a cozy tour being close to dark so the rooms looked extra cozy. I’ve already decorated my house for winter and it is nice to get back to the simplicity of things. I like how everything is simple and just enough decor and functional. i dont know where in VA you are but im also in VA and im so over this cold weather already, although since i do work from home sitting inside watching the snow is so peaceful to me. also kind of jealous in a way that you are close to hobby lobby cause for me its a bit of a drive and i am not a fan of driving on the interstate ever. love watching your channel

I told you in a previous video that I have those wonderful Robert Stanley snowflakes, and I love how you used yours. Much better than using them as placemats!
