I'm just a regular guy who decided to start a youtube channel, mainly because I needed a new hobby!! On my channel you could see a video about virtually anything, from fun with my family, stupid short films, to reviews of almost any tech item, and anything in between. I love playing with new tech items, but I'm no expert so maybe we can learn together!!

Nice video man, Gotta work off the GAS! Instead of just photography, you may want to consider some videography for weddings as well, I believe that would be a good selling point to offer as well.
@@breakfastforyousoul idk about weddings. I’ve thought about but it seems like a lot of pressure. Are people wanting documentation or a full on movie style video? I probably should clarify I take as much video as photo doing sports, check out my instagram if you want to see my work. @hasenmyer1879 I have a LOT of fun doing this
I appreciate your authenticity. You're real, just being yourself. That's what made me subscribe. We're in this together. So many stories of struggle and self doubt. Now, we're setting ourselves up for success. 🎉-Val in Virginia
@@vs0063 thanks for much
It’s all about perspective, isn’t it?! Very cool way of showing that.
You didn't list the shutter speed of the lights you used - the camera must have chosen for you.
Great job Adam. I realized you cannot get rid of banding unless you have A) mechanical shutter B) Flash to overpower C) Global shutter 🤣. The banding on cruise ships is super terrible and I learned this the hard way in my first videos!
Yeah the seperate options for video and photo got me on the s5 for a while, lol. One thing the S5 does though is you can just hold down a button and program it to whatever you want, that is SOO much easier than going through the custom mode buttons one at a time. Yeah learning a new system is a pain once you get used to another one for sure!
not enough buttons on s9 to program.
That's stupid to have two settings for monitor brightness. Glad they don't make cell phones. Too many options. Panasonic needs to learn the KISS principle. Simplicity Enhances Usability.
.I guess I should read the manual???
@@hasenmyer that doesn't help me because if the menu isn't intuitive, i'll forget where the feature I need is located!
This will happen with all cameras that don't have M.Shutter. Try turning Synchro Scan on the menu.
Will this help with banding in video? Adam had a previous video where the issue was occuring in video. It would come and go, and I'm assuming that this was due to the shutter speed adjusting for exposure.
@@TimBrownTown The mode is available for both photo and video, it allows for micro adjustments to help mitigate any issues with some light sources. You can leave it on all the time too. it might not work on all modes though! Give it a try.
doesn't work on A priority, and you would REALLY have to be looking closely to even notice until you got home to review on larger screen, BUT at least you have an option. The camera SHOULD have a mechanical shutter if it is photo oriented hybrid camera.
I am a fujifilm user. Last year this time, I bought a A6700 and a Lumix S5 at the same time. I kept the S5 and returned the A6700. Sony cameras have amazing autofocus but the color is terrible especially skin tone rendering. Panasonic has superb color straight out of the camera. In some lighting conditions, I like S5 color better than my fuji x-t4. I definitely recommend that you keep the S9 :)
Thanks for the feedback. I definitely like the colors of the s9
Good job on the LUT! It has a really good look to it. As for me I’m primarily a Sony shooter (ZVE1, A6700, A7RV) and I just picked up the S9, there is something about it that I really like. It has its limitations and flaws but it has character , before the software update I had no desire to pick it up, but with recent update along with the app integration, time limits removed, remote camera control and the look and feel of the camera swayed me to buy one. I did pick up the smallrig handle to help with the grip. Enjoying your videos. Keep doing what you’re doing.

Good job on your lut man, looks good! Yeah each camera has strengths and weaknesses, thanks for your insight into the S9. I have the S5ii but never used the S9.. The S5ii is amazing and I love it! The S9 is similiar but not, very interesting how it just sticks on ya, just something different about it. Thanks for the video bud!
I appreciate it, I probably should have just got the 2 or 2x. Do you have full access to lumix lab app like on the s9?
What's the over/under on you sending it back? 🤣 No EVF and e-shutter only with a slow sensor readout is reason enough not to keep it. The A7CR is the better camera by a fairly wide margin. But, if it speaks to you, and you are constantly grabbing it on your way out the door, then there is something to be said for that.
@@RandumbTech about 70/30 send back especially since the realities of owning two systems starts to set in and how insane it is to buy the exact same a lenses twice! No EFV SUCKS and I hate the sound it makes when it takes a ohoto
Im planning to get s9.Which one do you suggest is the best overall camera. Also which lens you would buy with s9 if you get a chance again ? Btw great video. This is what i was looking for on the whole youtube
oh that's a good question, I"m not sure which one I'd get yet. I like the 18-40 lens although it's nothing to write home about, but if fits the camera. any of the small sigma primes would be good, I have the 24 f2 and like it. Be sure to keep watching as I will eventually get around to making a more definitive answer.
I agree 100%. I'm speaking from opinion here, but I think that after losing 100lbs your body needs a break to stabilize as well.
thanks for that. I should have been more clear in the video, it's not like I went on fried chicken/hamburger/pizza bender. I just haven't been as focused as I have been in the past.
@@hasenmyer Oh yea. That's all it takes for me. I swear if I sub out a single veggie burger for a real burger I gain a pound!
I love the skin tones of the Sony ZV-E1, it looks just more cinematic. I see too yellowish the S9 and skin tones with less details. FX30 is in the middle, but not at the level of ZV-E1. Just my opinion, don't take it too seriously :) Cheers!
Yes, mental breaks are essential. I am not able to stop, breath, and think about my next step. I am always in my everyday run. Cheers!
yeah sometimes you just gotta break out and slow down a little
S9 is definitely "brighter" compared to the darker zv e1. But, they both look good. You could mix the two and most people wouldn't know you were using different cams if you didn't say anything.
The Sony reproduces what I'm seeing with my eyes, however the Panny's colors look better to me...decision decisions
@@hasenmyer Keep em both then buy the a1 ii next week! 🤣
@ now your talking!
@@hasenmyer I jumped from a Sony A6700 to an S9 and I haven't look back! It's been better in almost every way except build quality. My sony could barely handle 60fps footage without shutting down. If you use the same lenses, they won't look that different and having an Open Gate 6K sensor gives me a lot of flexibility in post....but the IBIS is what takes the cake for me!
Awesome. Did you experience any overheating while doing these tests with these cameras?
not on this day, it was pretty cool outside though. I've gotten the zve1 to overheat before by shooting a bunch on 4k60 on a extremely hot day in direct sun, but normally it's not something I worry about.
@@hasenmyer Thanks for the reply
I think that cheap lens is hurting the S9 in these tests. Lumix cameras really sing with one of the 1.8 primes. I still think Sony is the best value when it comes to overall value.
@@RandumbTech probably so, but I’m not willing invest in those primes. The s9 is good but I currently have everything I need with Sony.
@@hasenmyer Got the 50 f/1.8 on ebay for around $200 in mint condition.
Which one wins?
Nice test all 3 looked good. Zve1 is simplest to use imo, touch screen and my menu keeps it simple. Love all 3 of these cameras though. S9 autofocus is much better than people think! It hung right in there against 2 top Sony cameras
If I had to choose between Zve1 and s9 I’d choose Zve1 BUT that may be my personal bias coming through. The s9 would be a no brainer if I was invested in panny ecosystem
s9 for the win!
It's funny everyone sees everything so different. A previous commenter liked the FX30, you liked the s9 and I like the zve1...thanks for watching
Banding is still there on the S9. That sensor has a super slow readout. Sony’s look much better to my eye. Also, you may want to add the camera model names to the title so it gets recommended more by YT.
I"m going to see if I can adjust some settings to get the banding corrected . IDK if it will the banding alone disqualifies the camera for me, but it is concerning....good call on the title
Those were my thoughts. I think the crop with stab on high is 1.4X which essentially makes it an APS-C sensor. Same with the ZV-E1, which is why I saved my money and went with the A6700...for now.
@6700 is a great camera I use apsc all the time
@@hasenmyer I agree. I haven't used it much yet though. Maybe once I get this last action cam video done I can make some content with it. I really want to do a vlog and add a touch of stab in catalyst. I have yet to figure out how to do that with S-Log3 properly since I think Catalyst Browse won't export in 10-bit. I guess I could color grade first?
@ I don’t know if CB can do 10bit..maybe it can but I haven’t used in forever..I’d rather have shaky footage than deal with CB. Peter Gregg uses a program called gyroflo that he seems to like, but IDK
zv e1 was too dark, the s9 too light, and the fx30 was just right. Overall, the fx30 was all around the best looking in every respect.
LOL I can never get it right..I think your right though fx30 for the W
Great video mate! Keep doing! I also agree with your hybrid approach. Which lenses do you pair with your A7CR?
When I'm traveling, usually 24-70 2.8 or 20-70 4.0. I used to always carry one prime lens, but going forward I probably won't.(I never use them).
This video was shot with the osmo pocket 3
That stabilization just can't be beat! When I used both in body and lens plus the e stabilization . . . holy mackerel . . . it's pure sorcery!
this video was shot on the pocket 3...I should have stated that, however the S9 is miles above any other mirrorless camera I've ever used.
BAG IS COOL! I have one like it, S9 was great on Stabe and of course pocket 3, sony is ok but you get those jitters.😊
yup s9 is pretty good!
Much better in this video. I tried a Real Time LUT I downloaded from the Lumix Lab app and since I don't know what I'm doing I thought the footage looked like crap. So fuzzy in the blacks. So I deleted everything and went back to standard. I'm just not a color grader!
Yes, part 1's color was completely user error. I'll explain what happened in my next video. I'm having a real hard time understanding the Real time LUT implementation, but I'm starting to get used to it a little. I use the phantom luts on almost every video, it's drag and drop, would highly recommend.
@@hasenmyer I'll continue to play if for no other reason than just plain curiosity. I'll have to try different LUTs since those may be the issue. Or I'm just being crazy and it didn't look as bad as I made it out to be.
I was thinking you were doing a Camera Conspiracies' LUT! 😂
LOL...I thought the same thing!
what lens did you use for the video?
@@shiragoose sigma 24 f2
Natural and standard are really good, for me anyway. Love that Stabe!
I really like natural! Stabe is next level, hopefully I can run it against the zve1 this weekend
I like my ZVE1 because of the variety of lenses, lowlight performance, and its size and weight. I like my S5iix better because of the stabilization, colors, and EVF and better screen. EVF is a factor!
Yeah, they all are SO good and SO close
Image quality is awesome man, love the Lumix cameras! Stabe rocks man, no crazy Sony and Canon Jitters... Dynamic range looks great too! Same quality as my S5ii. The Luts are cool too, makes post work easier for those into all that. In my tests, The ZVE1 stabe in my opinion is great for Dynamic, but with the crop you are under 4k at that point, with the S9 after the crop you are still good, more sharp for thost that care about it.😊😊 The best stabe in my opinon to use in most cases on the S9 is the standard mode without the boost crop, it is amazing and only a slight crop at that.
yes sir I like how it looks!
Looked pretty good once you got it exposing for your face. Dynamic range looked great, especially when you were backlit by the sun. Looking forward to that comparison with the E1!
Image quality is superb. I love the full frame look. Congrats!
Well...natural looked natural. Stab looked decent. Bokeh was on point.
I liked the "natural" profile that comes with camera....not sure what was going on when I couldn't get the phantom LUT to work
Same here. Had to get used to the menus and getting everything.Set up in my menu, but once you do, it's actually intuitive, just really different coming from sony!
I hear you. Before the S9 was announced I was expecting the S5II in a smaller package. The omission of the EVF and weather sealing, and the short time limits on video were disappointing. But after the firmware was updated to remove the video cap and the 18-40mm lens was released, I’ve started to turn. The criteria of ‘small’ and ‘lightweight’ are underrated.
yes, in this video I think I said I had the 10-18, but I got the 18-40 and the overall package is really nice...minus EVF
That banding in VLOG is quite strange indeed. I think it has to do with the slow sensor readout speed. It happens regularly with my FX30 but Sony will automatically scan the environment for a flicker-free shutter speed. Not sure if Lumix offers the same, but hopefully they do. No EVF is a deal breaker for me personally.
Probably user error, if there was a problem with LED flicker surely a RUclipsr would have pointed it out in their review..RIGHT? Yeah, no viewfinder sucks
LOL@ "The GAS was starting to build up..." That is some odd banding. Looks like the shutter speed was changing during the static shot. I'm very interested in hearing what you think about it, especially since you have the ZV-E1 and are looking for something that does what you need without all the bells and whistles, or at least gives us quick access to the things we do change often. I guess like the Sony menus do. It can be overwhelming though with things like focus subject shift speed vs focus change speed and shockless white balance level. Seems a bit much to consider.
Those are LED shop lights in my garage, I've never noticed anything like that before in any of the videos I've shot before...wierd! You may be right about the shutter speed though, as I was shooting in A priority, still though I didn't notice it in the first clip while shooting in the Standard profile, only happened once I moved to V-log
@@hasenmyer I bet it caught flicker when it was changing between shutter speeds. I'm thinking that even though you set it to NTSC, it probably hit some unfriendly shutter speeds as it tried to adjust for exposure. That explains why it wasn't consistent. But, I could be wrong--just a guess. I haven't seen that happen on other cameras though. The Pocket 3 is bad for it, but it's not intermittent like that.
Awesome man, interested to see some upcoming videos about it. I love my S52. It's crazy of all the cameras I own. That's probably my favorite still. With the lens prices, the value is really amazing, and the stabilization is the best By far. I like the simplicity of the S9 as well.
While you were doing this, I was replacing the cold control thermostat in my refrigerator. I probably saved at least $200 if not the price of a new one if I decided to go that route instead. It took about 2 hours, 30 minutes was threading the probe into the plastic sheath because the new one didn't come with one. I got smart and ran hot water over the plastic to get it to expand so I could thread it easier. At one point, it was moving less than a 1/4 inch each push.
man that sounds like a chore!
@hasenmyer it was, but it was worth it. Maybe it will pay for one of these action cams. Lol
Finding the perfect bag is damn near impossible! I have closets and cases filled with bags. :sigh:
