Janet and Jak Esim are Sephardic musicians living in Turkish performing Judeo-Spanish songs and Sephardic music in Istanbul. Collaborating with the legend Turkish fretless guitarist Erkan Oğur and Bülent Ortaçgil, they prepared albums and gave concerts. The best-known album of the duo is "Antik Bir Hüzün", which is also their first work. In 1992, they won the "Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik" (German Record Critics' Award) with this album. Δική μας η μουσική. Οι βυζαντινοί συνέχισαν απτην αρχαιοελληνική, που είναι η βάση μας, Και οι γείτονες αυτήν βρήκαν και συνέχισαν. Εμείς μπερδεύτηκαμε με τα δυτικά κ αμερικάνικα και ακούμε πότε πότε τα τουρκικά κ νομίζουμε ότι είναι δικά τους.... ξεχνώντας την κληρονομιά μας.

Janet Abla , Jak Ağabey var olunuz ,tüm kalbimle esenlik,afiyet dilerim size.Bu videoya nasıl geldim bilmiyorum surf yaparken bir şekilde eriştim...Bu müzik ,icranız , bunalmaktan alıkoydu beni.Haftalardır kitap okuyamıyordum, sizi dinlerken sayfalar akıp gidiyor.Yemin ediyorum konsantre olmak neydi hatırladı zihnim.Sözleri anlamıyorum ,kesin huzura , sevgiye ve barışa götürmeye çalışan bir şeyler vardır.Mutlu oluyorum anlıyor musunuz ,sizi dinlerken mutlu oluyorum.Nasıl desem, müziğiniz ,esaret altında kalıp da bir şekilde bir Akdeniz kasabasına erişip huzur bulmak gibi.Bir sanat eserinin insanda iyi ve olumlu duygular uyandırması beklenmelidir kanımca zaten. Bakınız aslında ,sizleri değerlendirecek kifayette değilim, haddim de olmazdı zaten, ancak müziğinizin sağlık bakanlığını alakadar etmesi lazım gelir kanadı kırılmışları tedavi amaçlı. Emek verip bu müziği ortaya çıkarmışsınız, daima var olun efendim daima var olun güzel Abla ve Ağabey, en kalbi saygılarımla.
