You should update your history, look up Hamish Robertson, who designed the Ariston RD11, which he had built at Castle, whom Ivor stole the design from. This is well documented, Ivor was even witnessed by many at a hifi show at that time, crying openly and asking Hamish to forgive him when they had his design at a show. Its such a dark story it would make a great TV mini drama. From a designer having difficult times, to stealing a design, and even a house break in where patents were stolen but no antiques or such. Sadly Hamish Roberston passed away before the case was resolved at court, allowing Linn to maintain the design patent and therefor become the company they are today. Ariston History - AudioKarma is an eye opening article by the designers daughter, that before hand had been getting told in many audio circles.

Simple Dealer show, don‘t trust that a bit beyond the prices. They way he‘s disrespecting customers with voicing them clearly shows. And it‘s actually a Analog to Digital converter as you can‘t do much with a DAC connected to a phono-stage - stupid it would be.

Do you not know how to use a microphone for God sake?

As nice as it is, and with its space age technology I would have thought at this price the option of a balanced tonearm cable and a screw down record clamp would have been available. But Rega, like so many other turntable and tonearm manufacturers, these options are never considered.

Does the Athos have a DAC and phono stage? How do they compare to Atoll at a similar price point for the two? And lastly why do some Rega dealers advertise as available in store only? I ask as I am housebound and can only shop online.

Do you think this amplifier will pair well with Wharfedale Linton? I know in a WhatHiFi review that they paired with an Elex really well so this should be an upgrade, but not sure to be honest if it will pair well regarding sound signature, having in mind linton are towards relaxed and warmth sound and Rega is somehow more vivid/punchier and energetic.

Well tempered Amadeus betters rega and linn and is also cheaper, its a no brainer especially when you listen to them side by side ( night and day )

I read the ND5 is nude elliptical? If the ND7 is micro-line would be good to hear your thoughts of that vs the Ortofon 2m bronze, a cheaper with a replaceable stylus cart..

How good is Linn’s Adikt in comparison? Is it worth paying over £600 for it? I know you can swap the stylus on it which is an important feature for me.

I have one LP12 almost Klimax level and I don’t suggest anymore to start upgrading because it is silly and I think for performance is already enought the Majik version

I’m afraid that Ivor was just another HiFi shyster - like most people in the business. The LP12 was just a turntable - not a frigging spaceship or fusion reactor. Pure rabbit hole stuff - like most everything in the HiFi game.

To say Michael is biased is an understatement! He will always sell his soul for LINN. Saying that, the NIAI is one ugly and overpriced POS.

I’ve got a Beogram Deck , Project DS tube amp , a Beocenter 2 and a special edition of Beolab 5s I’m adding a Linn streamer to the system obviously I will not need any amplification in the Linn sure to the fives having I believe 2,500 watts per speaker abd of course watts doesn’t say everything. Would line in be best connection for Linn DSM Selekt to Beolab 5 ? And which Linn Dac would you recommend to use with Beolab 5 ? My 5s have a built in Dac and It’s high end but old tech compared to these newer Linn Dacs Would you go basic or the middle Dac or go for the organik to play with my Bang and Olufsen BL5s thanks ?? They were a flagship speaker retaining at 18k before discontinued so I imagine the differences in all three Linn Dacs would be noticed . I head the Linn DSM Selekt in a Newcastle paired with Sinus Faber Olympica II Nova speakers and it was incredibly good . I know BnO is controversial to some but certainly not every audiophile and I wanna get the best out my 5s from the beautiful Linn Thanks mate

Thanks for doing this. I've had Marantz CD-63 SE players because they play well with my Naim system (My Naim system makes anything cheap really sound cheap.), but 1995 is way back there now, and I just spent $200 getting my current CD-63 SE fixed for one thing only to have it quit somewhere else, so after a lot of research it looks like this CD60 may be what I'm looking for, and the ability to play digital files off a thumb drive is actually something I can potentially use in the near future. Having something under warranty would be nice.
