      @@P.Trim69 excellent comment and feedback. I do love Honda with Yamaha right there with Honda. I do wish this were an 02 as that year started the ability to disengage 4wd, which made riding the quad more fun when 4wd wasn't needed for sure. I've also never owned a Rubicon with the hondamatic, but always heard good things. Although the more fancy accessories, the more things that can break. Hence the reason I like this simplistic "s" version. Less to go wrong for sure. I have a part 2 video that I'm working on editing now which should take this quad to a more usable level. Thanks for watching and best ost of luck with the Rubicon purchase.

    That noise is the clutch one way bearing bad

    • @redhawkvalley
      @redhawkvalley 13 дней назад

      @kylekitchens84 I fear you are absolutely correct. I read about that in the forums after I made the video and came to the same conclusion. The next test ride I went down a hill and let off the throttle and sure enough, as soon as the engine got near idle, the centrifugal clutch disengaged and it free wheeled. It would catch again if the free wheeling exceeded the engine rom by a bit, but would then free wheel again. I owned an 02 450s many years ago and never had this issue, but this quad has unknown hours and miles. I doubt I'm going to pull the front cover to fix it unless I need to get at something else up there, i.e. the cam chain or tensioner. Thanks for the spot on comment. Take care.

  • @benmiller3280
    @benmiller3280 15 дней назад

    Honda's have a centrifugal clutch and also a change clutch, which is a regular multi disc clutch. The change clutch is attatched to the transmission, and the centrifugal runs off the crankshaft and engages with R.P.M. It sounds like in neutral that the centrifugal clutch drum, which drives the change clutch might be sticky or something which would cause both clutches to spin and thats what you hear after it shuts off because its supposed to free wheel in neutral. Hard to tell also, but it sounds like the cam chain is slapping around, either due to wear, or a problem with the tensioner. If it has been sitting a while, the clutch plates can get stuck together, so you can un-stick them by holding the front brake and hold the shifter between gears and give it throttle. It should break loose. If it wants to take off with the shifter held midway between gears, the plates are sticking.

    • @redhawkvalley
      @redhawkvalley 13 дней назад

      @@benmiller3280 thanks so much for the information. I did what you suggested, holding the shifter between gears, and at first I did feel the machine want to move, but then it released back to neutral. So that worked like an charm and hopefully will help keep the clutches free. The cam chain and tensioner were replaced in 2022, so I'm not sure if that's causing the tapping, but I'm going to certainly keep an eye on it. As you know I can't remove the tensioner to check it without removing the cylinder so for now it will be a watch & listen item for sure. Thanks so much for the excellent feedback.

    Very interesting. Definitely seems like the engine oil is getting pushed into the cooling system from a high pressure oil gallery. Mr Subaru mentioned that this could happen at the o-rings between the upper oil pan and engine block, which requires engine removal to replace. Will be curious to find the exact root cause, since there a LOT of these cars on the road, and the earlier FB engines are getting up there in miles...

    • @redhawkvalley
      @redhawkvalley 18 дней назад

      @@PineHollowAutoDiagnostics definitely either engine oil or CVT fluid. My gutt is telling me that the pcv crossover that I replaced wasn't it, so the next least expensive would be to replace the radiator as the fluids can mix there. You are right that those o-rings in the upper oil pan can also go bad in which case this car wouldn't get fixed and ridden as is. I am replacing the PCV valve today just in case that is clogged and pushing some of this oil to the coolant via the orings you speak of. I bought this car used and there wasn't really any scheduled maintenance done to it so most parts that haven't broken are original at 200k miles and 10+ yrs. old. Thanks for the great comment!

    My heat wasn't turning off, so I replaced the thermostat & actuator. My super rewired the new actuator, but doesn't seem to be working. It won't turn the heat on orr off. I can manually lock the the switch into the on position then the hot water flows but it won't turn off unless I release the arm on the actuator. I think the wiring might be wrong on the actuator , any idea how to rewire it, or any idea what to check? Thanks

    Thank you for posting this video. I purchased my 190 about a year ago and had no real info to use for my research of the gun I bought. Only things I could find at the time were people just firing them or models very similar. I admit I've not had mine fully broken down like yours in the video. But I believe that the gun store I purchased it from did do a thorough cleaning of the gun before I bought it. As for its condition, everything looks original, and it has all of its parts including pieces that are usually missing. My first thought was this gun was not really taken out of the rack very often. But the cut marks on the side of the stock tell a different story. And as far as I know the bluing is original and about 95% still there. It almost has no surface rust, and even with the cuts the stock is in might fine shape. Honestly it makes me wonder why the gun store I bought it from tried to talk me out of buying it. They told me it was a terrible gun. But something about it called to me, and I've never regretted my decision to purchase it. And as long as I live it will never have a for-sale sticker on it ever again.

      @@stephencivic1989 Thanks for the comment. It sounds like your 190 is in great shape for its age. There seems to be a following for these old bolt action shotguns, but some people certainly do not like them. From what I read they were popular from the 50's-70's and I think that savage still makes a slug specific one. All that to say, if it works for you, then that's all that matters. @LeeJay-x1c 2 месяца назад

      Also, I saw a comment saying that continued use of smokeless Remington wheel gun ammo may cause the cylinder to expand and overall wear the gun down. Have you confirmed or denied that, and if you haven’t tested it yet do you plan to do so, or would you make a video about shooting lots of modern ammo through it and seeing if it holds up?

    A lot of those department store guns (usually rebadged Stevens/Savage or Mossbergs) didn't have a true stained finish. They sealed the wood with clear, and then sprayed a tinted clearcoat on top of it. It is very easy to make it look better than stock by doing it the "right way", staining it and then clearcoating it. Next time, start with a lighter stain on an unseen spot on the inside to see how dark it gets. It often gets darker than you think it will. Nice job

      @@RequisiteFunction that is super interesting regarding the store branded guns not having a true stain. And great advice on the staining a small section first. Thanks for the feedback.

    • @RequisiteFunction
      @RequisiteFunction 2 месяца назад

      @redhawkvalley once the trick was learned, it was done on all the mid and base-level American guns. The reason is, it let's the manufacturer get away with not having to use walnut. There's nothing necessarily wrong with the other woods, but walnut costs more, and people back then didn't want blonde guns. Clearcoating it first, and then spraying it with a dark, tinted clear, allows them to offer a uniform color across the product and the product line, something that can be difficult with solid birch or one of the other "white wood" walnut substitutes, due to the absorbtion rate of unsealed wood. There's always a bit of trial and error with it, but by and large, they usually look better than the factory fake finish when people redo them the right way. Fwiw, many electric guitars are still finished with this "fake staining" for the same reason. It gives you more control over the color, but it never looks as good as actually staining it.
