There is no end to sorrow, but happiness always has an end. Happiness is like a feather lifted into the sky by the wind- it may soar lightly, but its life is far too brief, and all we can do is hope the wind keeps blowing. Happiness is like a dewdrop resting on a flower petal- it may shine peacefully, but with even the smallest tremble, it quivers and falls, like tears of love. The happiness of the poor is like the grand illusion of a carnival- they work all year long for a fleeting dream, playing the role of a king, a pirate, or a gardener, performing their assigned scenes. But when Ash Wednesday comes, it all comes to an end.

Subject: Heartfelt Thanks for Today’s Music Ministry at Los Altos Nursing Home Dear Friends, Thank you to everyone who participated in today’s music ministry at Los Altos Nursing Home. Today was truly a grace-filled time for both the performers and the residents. Some residents were moved to tears during the performances, and even a staff member was so touched by our service that they shed tears of gratitude. In the middle of the program, they expressed their thanks and mentioned that a certificate of appreciation would be sent to us. What made today even more special was that, on this Christmas Day, someone made the decision to believe in God. Pastor Oh-Sun Kwon, a cellist with the Silicon Valley Ensemble and a counselor ministering at a rehabilitation center, discerned the heart of one of the residents. Approaching them with a prayer and sharing God’s Word, the resident broke into tears and confessed their faith in Jesus. Hallelujah, Amen! In addition, Moon-Hee Jang and her family brought the joy of the season with carols and a bag full of gifts to share. While the world celebrates Christmas with parties, noise, and busyness, those who chose to serve today in one of the loneliest places, among those who have no one visiting them, reflect the true spirit of heaven. A special thanks to Ms. Susan for treating us to lunch and to Mrs. Seon-Eun Noh for her generous donation. Wishing you all a blessed and joyful Christmas! May the New Year bring you even more health and happiness. This past year has been filled with joy because of each of you. I close this year deeply grateful, indebted to your overflowing love. 오늘 로스알토스 양로원 음악봉사에 참여하신분들께 감사드립니다 오늘은 정말 연주자와 환자분 모두 은혜로운 시간이었습니다. 연주내내 우시던분도 계셨고 스탶분도 저희들의 봉사에 감격의 눈물을 흘리셨고 중간에 감사의 인사와 감사장을 보내주겠노하고 멘트 하셨습니다. 특히 예수님탄생일 크리스마스날 하나님을 믿겠노라고 다짐하신분이 계셨습니다 실리콘밸리 앙상불 첼로리스트로 활동하시고 중독자 치료센타에서 상담목회자로 사역하시는 권오선목사님께서 환자의 마음을 읽으시고 다가가서 기도해드리고 말씀을 선포하니 이분이 눈물를 흘리시면서 예수임을 믿겠노라고하는 고백의 순간이 있었습니다. 할렐루야 아멘. 또한 장문희씨가족이 나와서 캐롤송과 선물 한보따리 가져오셔서 나눔을하셨습니다 크리스마스 연휴 세상 사람들은 마시고 떠들고 흥에겨워 이리저리 다닐때 오늘 어쩜 가장 쓸쓸한 장소에서 아무도 찿지않는 외로운 사람들을 위해 봉사하신 분들은 천국은 바로 이런분들의 것이라 봅니다 저희들 점심사주신 스잔님과 후원금을 주신 노선은여사님 감사합니다. 모두들 복되고 즐거운 성탄되시고 새해엔 더욱더 건강한 모습으로 뵈어요. 여러분들 덕분에 행복한 한해였으며 과분한 사랑의 빚을 지고 한해를 마무리합니다. 감사합니다.

찬송가. 달고오묘한 그말씀 Hymn. Wonderful words of life Sing Them Over Agin to Me 노래중에서 찬송가가 제일 어렵습니다 절제된 음색과 행동 표정에서 때론 십자가의 고난과 혹은 구원의 기쁨을 나타내야하는데 악보를 보면서 부르는데 한계가 있습니다. 암보해서 부르시는분들 보면 대단하다고 느낍니다.

Thanks All my friends One of the participants in today's music volunteer service has sent a message of gratitude. Despite continuing to take medication for depression, they find it difficult to shake off the feelings of sadness. However, they spend their days looking forward to the volunteer service at the nursing home every month. After the service, they are able to sleep soundly. Even though we may be a bit lacking or clumsy, living a life where we understand and encourage each other is the true attitude of a religious person. They posted a video from today’s event on their Facebook, and the response has been enthusiastic. I heard that five people have liked it. This makes me reflect again on what the true purpose of life should be.

9월이면 가을입니다. 올여름 내내 양로원 음악봉사 다니면서 더운줄 몰랐습니다. 고맙고 감사했던 이여름을 Summertime 이란곡으로 추억해봅니다. 사실 이노래는 엄마 아빠가 아이를 안고서 부르는 축복송입니다.

At Los Altos Rehabilitation Center, there was a patient, Mr. John doe whose name I didn't know, but he reacted to the sound of the saxophone and cried throughout the entire performance. I wondered what thoughts were going through his mind to make him cry like that. Could it be that the saxophone, with its soulful, poignant tones, evoked feelings similar to those in "Arirang," stirring a deep sense of longing and sorrow? When music is played, all the patients respond in some way. Some clap their hands with joy, others shout, some weep, and others hug the staff, expressing their happiness. For those with severe conditions, music seems to be a sound that awakens the soul. Music therapists, as part of the medical field, need to study a combination of counseling, psychoanalysis, and music theory. In our fast-paced modern life, I see many people around me who have issues, likely due to spending too much time only with computers and phones, which affects the frontal lobe. Music is increasingly important in preventing and treating conditions like bipolar disorder, depression, social anxiety, and phobias. Music therapy is a crucial aspect of psychology, providing mental and emotional stability. The reason I devote my time and resources to volunteering is because I gain so much more in return than the patients themselves do. A staff member, a Chinese woman who has worked there for over ten years, mentioned how grateful she was. She said it was the first time she had seen patients come up to her, hug her, and express their happiness. --- This conveys the depth of your experience and reflections on the powerful impact of music on patients.

Mr John do. 이름은 모르지만 색소폰 소리에 반응하고 연주내내 울던분. 무슨 생각을해서 저렇케 울었을까? 색소폰은 아마도 아리랑같은 아련한 애처로운 정서를 느껴서 그럴까? 음악을 들려주면 모든 환자들이 어떤 식으로든 반응을합니다 너무 좋아 손벽을 치시는분 소리치시는분 우시는분 스탭들과 허그하고 즐거운 마음을 표현하시는분. 중증환자들에게 음악은 영혼을 깨우는 소리인것같습니다. 뮤직 테라피스트는 의학의 한분야로써 상담학과 정신분석학 음악 이론등 종합적으로 배워야하는 분야입니다 너무나 바쁘게 돌아가는 현대생활에 주위에 이상있는 사람들 엄청 많이봅니다 컴퓨터 핸드폰안에서 만 놀다보니 전두엽에 문제가 생깁니다. 음악은 조울증 우을증 대면기피 포비아등을 예방하고 치료하는데 점점 비중이 높아집니다. 뮤직 테라피는 정신적 심리적 안정를 주는 싸이컬로지의 중요한 분야입니다 내 재물이든 내 시간이든지 쓰면서 봉사하는 이유는 환자들보다 몇배나 더 많은걸 얻기때문입니다. 잠깐 보이는 스탭 중국여자분이 십여년을 저기서 일했는데 이렇케 환자들이 자기한테 와서 허그하고 행복해하는 모습은 처음이라고 감사함을 전했습니다.

September marks the beginning of autumn. This past summer, I spent time volunteering at several nursing homes, and I hardly noticed the heat. As I look back on this season with gratitude, I find myself reminiscing through the song "Summertime." In fact, this song is a blessing, traditionally sung by parents as they cradle their child.
