That’s the ol Bear Polar 1953. It was my papaws and it hung up on the shelf for a long time til I was young I’d shoot it all the time. A couple years ago I threw a new string on it and took off after em. That’s the 4th deer I’ve killed with it.

Congrats what a feeling of accomplishment.!!! You would think there would be blood on the ground with that shot? What broadhead you using? I do hear some narrow cut single bevel broadheads don't leave a lot of blood on the ground.

@@JohnLee-ud2gm hey man, I haven’t deleted any comments. RUclips has its own filter that doesn’t allow any comments it deems hateful or negative. That being said, it’s perfectly fine to feel that way. In our area our buck to doe ratio is like 1 buck for 20 does of not more. No one I know really shoots does, so looking at a conservation perspective, taking a few does will be great for the population. As for the fawn, I’ve seen her every time I’ve went back there and she’s doing fine. I appreciate your time to voice your opinion. Good luck this year if you’re hunting, but please don’t shame someone for a harvest. As long as the deer is being used, I believe it’s completely ethical to take any deer.

@@feelthespiritofthewild We disagree on shooting early season does.If you see fawns wandering around bleating after there mother is killed and no idea how to survive it should change your mind if you have any ethics.

@@JohnLee-ud2gm she hasn’t been walking around bleating. She’s been regularly feeding and bedding in the same area she has been, and sometimes runs with that same group of does that was with the one I shot. I’ve seen mama bears eat their young after they’ve been killed by a boar. To them it’s just an instinct to survive. Purely subconscious. We can agree to disagree though, and I appreciate you leaving a comment.

We were in Giles county there. I bounce around hunting a few different counties in va mostly tazewell, but it’s pretty much all private ground.

@@CrossbowKelly so far I’ve shot 2 with them. Both exited within an inch of the shoulder bone. The first one was a great blood trail, but exit was low shoulder. The second one we didn’t find much blood, but she went 60 yards and fell over. I heard exactly where she fell so we walked right to her.

@@WarpandXeno88 it depends on your preference. I shoot with a decent amount of cant in the bow, but sometimes when I’m hunting the position I’m in I may have to shoot straight up and down or with even more of a cant. It’s not a bad thing. It just depends on what makes you shoot better and what makes you feel more comfortable when you’re shooting. If you’re anchoring more on the outside of your face, the more you cant the bow it’ll get your eye over the arrow. So it’s all up to preference the reason I cant the bow is because it just feels natural with the way I grip the bow.

@@feelthespiritofthewild I watch Berry wenzle shoot a buck with a recurve on a video in the early 90’s and I was positive it was something I wanted to do. Finally got into it about 5 years ago and love it.

@@Ascendsean35 for me it highly depends on what you’re looking for, and what you like. My favorite bow I own is the bear mag takedown. Just because the grip and weight of the bow, but for me it’s all preference. The black hunter is a decent bow, but it’s hard to tell what you’re gonna get at a cheap price point like that. These cheap bows have a tendency to not be the poundage you order and it’s labeled, and not all of them are good.

@@OdoyleRules24 that is very true. Everytime I go high up in the mountain it seems to be perfect then the wind will just start whipping. I’ve got spots I avoid because of how windy it’ll be😂

I often change how much pressure I put into anchor with different bows. Bows that are cut past center or to center I put light pressure in my anchor to give more of an angle. Then, on bows that aren’t cut to center i typically put more pressure to get less of an angle of the arrow from my eye.

@@feelthespiritofthewild That makes sense. I've only been shooting off the hand lately, but I draw two finger-widths below the nock. Since I've started doing that the more severe angle of the arrow at rest is significantly less noticeable as I line up my shot.

Yeah, the one on the right is the bigger one. It’s kinda hard to tell the way it was kinda folded together still from packaging.

@@AlexKS1992 I put different nocks in them. I use them for small game hunting now. Those seemed to be too tight around the string, so I sanded some and replaced some. They shoot great now
