Sony Xperia PRO-I vs Xiaomi 13 Ultra: Flagship Camera Smartphones Features & Performance Comparison
Hi everyone! In this video I compare various features and performance for two great camera smartphones, the Sony Xperia PRO-I and Xiaomi 13 Ultra. Yes, the Xperia PRO-I is about to reach 3 years old (release date Dec 2021) while the Xiaomi 13 Ultra was released last year in 2023. So this makes it a very unbalanced comparison right? Let's find out and see if it is or will the Xperia PRO-I surprise us all?

loved it 😊😊
Thank you! I really appreciate it!!!
glad you finally ditched the xperia
Yup! Felt like it was time to try something different after sticking with Samsung and Sony for many years. There's a lot I'm gonna miss about it especially when it comes to photography. But the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is impressive and I'm amazed at how fast they have caught up and even surpassed Samsung and Sony in many areas of smartphone features.
This is not a way of comparison... Improve your way of comparison...
Yes, I did mention in the beginning of this video I don't normally do these types of videos. I only focus on the camera abilities of smartphones. This video comparison is new for myself and I lack any experience in. I just found something interesting with how my almost three year old Sony Xperia PRO-I felt & performed in daily use compared to my newer Xiaomi 13 Ultra and wanted to share my experience. This is also a subjective comparison and represents more of how most people would use their smartphones and judge them, not by how they compare and perform in benchmarks and similar tests. When someone purchases a new smartphone, they most likely will do something similar to this video to test out how it performs. It's rare that they will pull up benchmarks, or even the sales associate as the main reason if they will buy it. I hope you did watch the entire video before you came to your conclusion about this video not being a comparison. I did provide actual video of both camera phones performing over ten different tasks at the same time. Also any suggestions on how I should improve my comparison would be of immense help to myself and others and greatly appreciated!
Great video:) and really funny!
Thank you! I really appreciate it!
🤦🏽 not a single problem like this... Recording with the rear camera? Use the vlog screen is a better way than the others brands offer
Yup, the vlog monitor is good to have especially if you do a lot of vlogging. But it can add additional weight and bulk which some may not like. Also it defeats one of the reasons the Xperia PRO-I is slim, its easier to carry and pull out of a bag or pocket. And for a quick vlog if something pops up suddenly to talk about, its faster and easier to use the front camera. The front camera isn't that bad in good lightning, I think most of us were expecting more from Sony when they sold it for $1800US in the beginning. Sony probably didn't think most users of the Xperia PRO-I would use the front camera often and didn't prioritize its quality and capabilities. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is similar, great rear cameras but a front camera that lags behind others even when it was released in 2023.
@@thefitlifechannel2021 on the front camera definitely I think all the brands are forgetting to do better. At least 12mp should be the minimum
@@kip_ivo Yup, my Samsung Note 20 Ultra had a 12mp front camera and could record in 4k. Thats what I started out using for my earlier You Tube videos!
@@thefitlifechannel2021 I checked that google have 42 pixel front/face camera 🤳🏽 👏🏼
@@kip_ivo Wow! Thats a lot! But why? I'm working on a comparison between the Xiaomi 13 Ultra and Xperia PRO-I on all of their cameras. What I noticed is that despite the 32mp front camera on the 13 Ultra being higher than the PRO-I's 8mp, its binned down to around 8mp. It does have more detail, but in many scenes lacks the color saturation, vividness and contrast of the PRO-I's 8mp. The native pixel size is also important for a balanced picture, the PRO-I's native 8mp sensor has bigger ones compared to the Xiaomi 13 Ultra (1.12 vs .07-micron pixels) which gives it a better color profile, even in low light. I've noticed this with their rear cameras too. Even if the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is binning down its 32 or 50mp cameras while upscaling the pixel sizes, sometimes to bigger ones than the PRO-I, it still has issues with color saturation and detail in less-than-optimal lighting. I always look at the native pixel sizes first before resolution for cameras, especially since I take pics and record vids in less-than-optimal lighting conditions.
*_Hot_* 🔥
i just got this shooting grip, and realized that the Zoom (up and down) rocker buttons are pretty soft and sensitive compared to other buttons. Do you feel that on your unit as well?
Yup, the zoom rocker and shutter button are spongy! Even the shutter button on my Sony Xperia PRO-I feel similar. They have a different feel than what is typically found on Sony's camera bodies. It will take some time to adjust to them. I usually use the zoom rocker and shutter button on the camera body with using this grip. But when vlogging I use the rocker and shutter button on the grip.
Nice
can you shift lenses while recording videos? and does it overheat like Xperia 1 iv?
You can zoom through various focal lengths from 24-72mm in the Videography PRO app. Sony designed it mimic the ones found in it's camcorders. It's not like a traditional smartphone camera app where you can switch between the native focal lengths. However in Photography PRO using "BASIC" mode, you can record video and change between the native 16, 24, and 50mm focal lengths (displayed as .7, 1.0 & 2.1x). Yes from my personal experience from the past two years of owning it, it will overheat in 30C+ temps and in sunlight when recording videos and taking photos to the point of limiting features or shutting down the Photo/Video PRO app. Others have pointed this out as well in similar situations. However below 29C or staying out of direct sunlight, no issues of overheating for myself. I've never had it overheat in other usages such as gaming, watching vids, etc.
@thefitlifechannel2021 i don't know why sony phone gets overheat because i used samsung in dubai where temperature is 40+ still never overheat
@@Gaming60fps It could be because of the humidity too in some hot climates. How are the humidity levels there? All of my Sony cameras such as my ZV1 and ZVE-10 will get hot or overheat after recording video for a while in hot temps or in sunlight as well. Even with past Sony Xperia 1 series smartphones this has been an issue. Sony likes to cram heat producing components into tight and/or thin bodies. I have a feeling that's why wireless charging wasn't included with the Xperia PRO-I. The 1.0 type sensor and Snapdragon 888 were already putting immense heat stress onto the rest of the smartphone. Adding wireless charging would have strained the other components more resulting in a shorter lifespan. Sony also minimizes heat damage by shutting down the Photo or Video Pro app rapidly if idle. My Xiaomi 13 Ultra does something similar but not as fast as the PRO-I. I'm speculating it may have something to do with the 1.0 type sensors they use and how hot they can get quickly. Video PRO will shut down quickly in hot temps if recording after a short period, but it can be extended using the Wireless Commander Shooting Grip and a unique endurance mode. Perhaps its lowering frame rates and other features to push recording times longer. This is something the Xiaomi 13 Ultra does as well.
Is it better than 1 IV to buy in 24
The Xperia IV isn't a significant upgrade compared to the PRO-I. If you're able to get the V or VI, those are more of a worthy upgrade. What are some of the main features you're looking for?
Good information! It seems that the CTAS have stopped being sports shoes and have become more of a dress outfit. There is a Brazilian brand CARIUMA that is causing a sensation among skaters because of how comfortable and durable they are. I only use sneakers for walking or dressing but I bought some and I am very satisfied. They are worth it. Greetings
Thank you! I really appreciate it! Thats what I noticed as well. Converse seems to focus more on aesthetics and pushing themselves as casual to semi formal shoes. Their newer designs appear more comfortable and rugged for walking around too. CARIUMA but will definitely check them out. Thank you for sharing that here. When I was younger my brothers used to wear Vans for skating and myself for daily wear. They were so cheap and easy to replace once they wore out. Are they still popular among the skating crowd or have they have moved on to others?
@@thefitlifechannel2021 From what I see online, Cariuma is hitting hard among skaters, not only because it is comfortable but also because it is strongly constructed and sustainable, even with vegan models. I never used Vans because I think it is for a younger audience than me, and as for Converse, I really like the Malden Street Mid because they are wider and fit more comfortable and they also have an Ortholite insole like the Chuck 70. Take a look at Cariuma Vallely Pro or Cariuma Catiba Pro and you will surely like them. I never skated but I have sensitive feet and I am always researching to buy comfortable shoes. Greetings
I almost bought a used unit of it but the downside: Android update SD888
I recommend using the Xperia PRO-I as a compact camera along with other Sony cameras if you own them. It's menu system is similar as well as pics and vids. It's waterproof and great for taking pics and quick videos where carrying a mirrorless camera and lens might be a burden. And if you're into editing photos and videos, it's display is very accurate compared to other brands. I use it to check photos and 4k videos I make for RUclips. Also, you're right about the updates, my Samsung Note 20 Ultra still receives monthly security updates unlike the Xperia PRO-I. But it's still supported in Google Play for apps so as long as you're not downloading suspicious files or visiting questionable sites, there shouldn't be any issues. I'm working on a comparison between the Xperia PRO-I and Xiaomi 13 Ultra. The 888 can still hold its own against the newer chipsets. The Xperia PRO-I feels more responsive and loads up faster at startup and for apps. A large part of this could be the smaller OS size and Sony's long term experience compared to Xioami. I didn't find any significant difference between the two in other areas. I was expecting to be blown away by all the marketing hype and reviews for the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. How each company builds a camera first smartphone is completely different too which the Xperia PRO-I and 13 Ultra are mainly marketed as. I can say Sony comes closest to mimicking a digital camera. Sony made this camera phone for Sony enthusiasts who use their digital camera models and that's probably the main reason I would buy it. Xiaomi takes alot of cues from the iPhone for its camera system and feels more like a smartphone camera setup.
4 years? That's crazy, they don't last even 4 months walking...
Yup! Quality did take a huge dive sometime during the early 2020s. I checked out their recent models this past weekend. It seems like they're trying to fix some of the common issues in their newer models that have bothered them for a while, midsole/outsole separation and more flexible outsoles. I think mine survived for a long time because I rarely walked in them and just used them for weight training. Mine were extremely uncomfortable to walk in especially on hard surfaces.
The latest thin cloth like shoes are cheap... The moab hiking trainers have been my daily work shoe and have been excellent lasting nearly a year of hardcore abuse minimum of 10 hours a day every day of the week... Now we have the gortex mk 3 and the laces are thinner... The gore liner ruins the comfort and they are smaller as are all my latest merrells... Five pairs lately and all are tight fit... The quality has taken a dive and the tread pattern on most designs gives you less rubber on the road... Still the best value but not as cheap as they used to be and not as good... Like you i have had the two rubber types on the sole seperate.... Mostly i get good even wear of all parts rather than failure if single parts..... You can see the value engineering has crep in...... Come on merrell you charge enough...
Thank you for sharing this! Merrell was known for being a reliable hiking boot and shoe source when I was in the military some time ago. It's the main reason I stuck with them after I left. But like you mentioned, quality has certainly taken a dive in the name of saving money. I've been trying out some Puma and Salomon trail running shoes this year. They're extremely durable but the issue is their tight toe boxes for wide feet like mine. Merrells are still more spacious and comfortable compared to them. I can wear a pair all day unlike the Pumas and Salomons. Have you thought about trying out other brands?
@@thefitlifechannel2021 before merrell i used hi tech which would last 6 months and cost a third less than merrell at least... Same thing happed to them they went cheap.... I dont think changing brand is the answer.. Its just that everything is getting more expensive and crap in quality..... Money money money... Selling quality shoes that last is bad for sales... Near enough is good enough...... Solomon are good same quality as merrell tbh... I never bother with merrell unless its got vibram bottom the cheap shoes have never pleased me... Im stood up all day for 8 to 10 hours so comfort and support are paramount.... The new merrell are smaller and tighter on the toes... I need to get size 10 now vs 9.5 i have been in... Im a 9 in every other shoe ive ever brought and not had any tight pairs....
@@roberthopkins8089 It seems like smartphones companies from a few years ago. Perhaps the shoe companies want people to change out their shoes more frequently. Might explain their aggressive marketing on using more recycled materials in their shoes so we don't feel so bad replacing them quicker. I also don't buy or recommend Merrell shoes unless they have a Vibram outsole. I was just surprised at how fast the Vibram outsoles on my Nova 3's wore out.
@@thefitlifechannel2021 softer material is more comfy and grippy... But just like soft tyres comes at a price... I guess
@@roberthopkins8089 Yes, the Nova 3's were the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn but paid for it with an extremely short performance life. I use them as gym shoes now because of no discomfort from prolonged workouts. Wearing Pumas or Converse feels like walking around with something bolted onto my feet, not being part of the shoes!
I was wondering if anyone could advise me on whether the Sony GP-VPT2BT is compatible with bulb mode. Basically, I want to know if I can start and end the shutter opening using the remote. My camera is A7 IV. Thanks!
I checked Sony's website on how to use bulb mode in manual exposure for a Sony camera and they recommended using a tripod and a remote commander to minimize blurring. I'm assuming this shooting grip should work for that function since it's a remote commander in tripod form. Its shutter button is supposed to mimic the same actions done from the one on the camera body. I've only done long exposures with it and not bulb mode. I can try it out and see if it works but my camera in only a ZVE-10. Let me know!
@@thefitlifechannel2021 I think I need to rephase my query 😊 I'm thinking of using the Sony GP-VPT2BT as a handheld mini tripod or a wireless remote, instead of buying a separate remote commander. Will it work with the ZVE-10 bulb mode? I will mount the camera on a big tripod. I'd love to be able to start and stop the shutter opening using the Sony GP-VPT2BT instead of pressing the shutter on the camera. Thanks for your help!
@@chrisbale11 Yes it should work as a wireless shutter button instead of using the one on the camera body. The GP-VPT2BT is a remote commander molded into a tripod/shooting grip so it should work as a wireless shutter button with bulb mode from supported camera bodies according to Sony. I can test it later with the ZVE-10's bulb mode and get back to you to see if it worked.
@@thefitlifechannel2021 Thanks a lot for your help! I really appreciate your time!
@@chrisbale11 You're welcome! Great news! The shooting grip does activate the shutter wirelessly while the ZVE-10 is in bulb mode. Just press the PHOTO button on the grip once to open the shutter, and one more time to close it after the desired amount of exposure time. I hope this helped answer your question!
Bruhhh 0:43 I thought i got a call
Several others have mentioned that as well. Hehe! I didn't think it would sound clear and loud because I recorded it with the microphones from my wireless mic. It's only good for vocals.
I watch many tech reviewers but this is a very good review, editing and music is top notch, it makes me want to buy the Xperia thanks man keep it up!
Thank you! I really appreciate it! I'm working on an Xperia PRO-I vs Xioami 13 Ultra series of reviews. It will be a good look at how the Xperia PRO-I can still hang with newer camera dominant smartphones.
The phone jpegs are over sharpened. Or just over processed in general. The photos look "fake" for lack of a better word. There's something about the contrast the seems inconsistent.
Are you talking about the Note 20 Ultra? If so, this is my biggest complaint with Samsung's processing. Photo's look hyper realistic. Similar to what Apple does for their iPhones. I'm not sure if Samsung has corrected it after the Note 20 Ultra with the newer S series Ultra phones. I switched to Sony afterwards.
Been using this phone for a few years and till today it's lag free and cosmetics still looks great!! 512gb built in plus 1TB external micro sd card, lots of space for those 4k videos.. still loving this phone. 👍
That's really good to hear! Mine is still really snappy and fast compared to a Xiaomi 13 Ultra I'm reviewing now with 16GBs of RAM! And it's still one of the best looking smartphones even in late 2024.
@@thefitlifechannel2021 facts!!
please make 1 vdeo that u say something wrong, snapdragon 888 literally i failure bro , also 8 gen 1, samsung who make that 2 chipset, its easy to overheat,in current conten u say 888 was good, but actually its not ,ik using that chipset right now, always hot n drop performance
Hello! I've never had any major issues with the Snapdragon 888 for me to mention it any of my videos on the Xperia PRO-I. The biggest complaint I've had with this phone has been the overheating of the cameras in 30C+ temps and only being able to use them for short periods. I'm not 100% sure if that's due to the 888, the 1.0 type sensor (my ZV1 also overheats and uses the same sensor), the ISP Sony is using to process pics and vids, the thin frame, or inadequate cooling system for this setup. However, I mainly use the Xperia PRO-I for photo/videography, watching vids on RUclips or Netflix, messaging and browsing the internet. I rarely used it for gaming or anything else that could stress the CPU intensively to cause it to overheat or reduce performance. I have the Xiaomi 13 Ultra and it feels a lot slower loading from startup, opening apps, processing photos from editing, (subjectively) despite having the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 and 16GBs of RAM compared to the Xperia PRO-I's Snapdragon 888 and 12GBs. The Xperia PRO-I feels snappier and quicker to operate despite its age. I have a feeling it's because Xiaomi's OS for the 13 Ultra is not optimized as well as Sony's for the PRO-I. I will make a future video comparing them both. I did make another video on reasons why the Xperia PRO-I may not be a good idea to keep or buy in 2024. I try to give a fair perspective on everything I review. ruclips.net/video/Zwuzw-WT4Wc/видео.html
for my first pair of converse chuck 70 , should i go with canvas or leather,,,,which one looks more amazing????
Good day! The leathers do look better and are more durable, however it depends on where you live. If you live in a hot and humid climate, it's not a good idea to go with leather. They will break down and fade faster compared to the canvas version. I recommend stitching the midsoles as well since they have a tendency to fall apart from the uppers regardless of which ones you go with. I hope this helped answer your question. Have a great day!
Sony win..
They do come out similar with Sony having the more accurate colors. But the Xiaomi is sharper in most situations while the Sony's 50mm focal length tends to have a yellowish tone to them which needs to be adjusted.
gosh your hot daddy
I think you should compare it with the S24 ultra The Note 20 Ultra is a bit old and lacks so many features from the S24 Ultra The S24 ultra camera is also so much more mature in processing compared to the NOTE 20 ultra
I would love to compare the Canon G11 to many different smartphones but the issue is that it's difficult for me to get something like the Samsung S24 Ultra. I'm using my own or borrowing from others. Most people I know prefer an iPhone. However I did pick up a Xiaomi 13 Ultra and will do a comparison with the Canon G11 in the future!
Hi everyone! Thank you for watching this video! A more in depth comparison video between these two excellent camera phones will be coming later!
I like this product because it can be used as a remote for my top down camera set up for art instruction. I need to zoom in and out but cannot stand up to adjust my physical camera and need my hands relatively free. This seems to be my solution..... Thank you for your video.
You're very welcome! I found it very useful for zooming onto myself or something I was discussing when doing solo vlogs. Please let me know if you have any questions later when you have received it.
Con 70s best
actually sweat resistance is IPx1 and those are IPx4 so sweat should NOT be a problem and is PROBABLY covered by warranty. Tho don't take a shower with them ;)
I sweat profusely during workouts and it can appear that I did take a shower or went swimming! Hehe! The Sony authorized repair shop I took them to wouldn't repair them but I've heard others have had no issues with others. Sony's repair service isn't consistent and can be a gamble when trying to repair something even if covered by warranty depending on the service region.
@@thefitlifechannel2021 Maybe it was a problem with your unit. There are always some lemons but generally even if covered in sweat the buds should be fine as its with no pressure so it can't enter the internals and the IPx4 rating suggests that it can even withstand more like splashes from any direction
@@antysiq It could have been, but I sweat profusely during my workouts and live in a high humidity environment. I think the heat and sweat wore out the waterproof sealing over time, especially when exercising sometimes twice daily. I've had issues with other Sony products such as smartphones and it tends to be exposure to repeated bouts of high heat that causes damage to them.
You have done lot of research and put lot effort in making this informative video. To me it looked like a research paper. I really liked the information that you have provided.
Thank you!! I really appreciate your comment!! I'm glad you found the video helpful!
how about the battery life ? it's still good after 3 4 years ?
Mine has made it to 25 months and the battery life is still strong. However, I chose the option to only charge it to 80% under it's battery care option. I'm not sure how it would be if it was frequently charged to 100%.
@@thefitlifechannel2021 thanks man ! i just bought the new Xperia Pro-i in vietnam but the battery is a little short about 10 hours a day
@@duyle-bh7tc You're welcome! Yup, battery life is a bit short especially when using the main camera. But it's a similar situation as my ZV1. Its battery life is short too, especially when recording in 4k. Sony should have thrown in at least a 5000mah battery in the PRO-I. How are you liking your Xperia PRO-I?
@@thefitlifechannel2021 it's too hot man 😂😂😂 and i just use basic things like RUclips and message but it's really really hot ! you have any tips for better battery and temperature ?
@@duyle-bh7tc Yup! Same as myself! Mostly use for You Tube, messaging and for photography and videography. I try to stay out of direct sunlight and use it in shaded areas when recording videos/taking pics if possible. You could attach a gaming type fan to the back to help keep it cool but the downside is that it might be heavier and bulkier. I don't know if you know about this but when I pair the Xperia PRO-I to the Sony shooting grip with wireless remote commander, I can record videos for a lot longer than on its own, even when its hot. But its pricey for a shooting grip and only worth it if you record videos frequently. You could also use the PRO-I in airplane mode when recording videos and taking pics and this helps prolong recording times. But most important is don't use it in temps above 30 degrees Celsius or it will overheat quickly. This is something that is common with my past Sony phones and digital cameras. Actually Sony recommends an optimal operating temp of 25C and below for their smartphones and most digital cameras! I found out the biggest battery drain is having cellular data on. I try to stick with Wifi as much as possible but I know it may not be an option for you. Keep location, Bluetooth, and NFC off. And try to keep your phone cool and away from heat sources. This is a major battery drainage source! Is your PRO-I running really hot even when watching You Tube and messaging?
I was thinking of getting one of these for my Sony RX100 VII. I use it at gigs for videos of bands....any idea if you can press the shutter button whilst it's recording videos?...I know the camera does this, but wondered if the hand grip perhaps disabled the shutter button
Yes this is a solid grip for your camera! Better than the previous version that was smaller and used a cable to connect. It's also very durable and can take some rough handling. When using photo mode in auto, you can record video, and take pics from the camera's shutter button and from the grip. But in video mode, it doesn't allow photos to be captured from the grip or camera. I hope this answered your question!
Sony is still selling this phone on their site in 2024. Is one of these phones purchased from Sony in 2024 shipping with Android 13 or 14 and will updates on these phones purchased from Sony in 2024 continue for 2 years from 2024 date of purchase.
Android 13 was the last OS update for the Xperia PRO-I. The last security update I received was in November 2023. If Sony is releasing updates for older devices purchased from their website in 2024 and not to others that didn't that paid the original $1800US, that would be horrible customer support. I have a feeling Sony might be stating it received two years of OS and security updates on their websites. I only see Android 13 in their firmware update section. The new Xperia I VI is the only one I know that has longer support.
The Sony Xperia Pro-I's sharpness, color saturation, and white balance are all clearly better than those of the Canon Powershot, which was released 15 years ago. While I really like the Sony Xperia - Pro-I's camera, I'm still satisfied with my Sony Xperia 1 mark 3. 👍
What do you think of the new main and telephotos on the Xperia 1 V and VI? Do you notice a significant difference compared to the ones on yours?
@@thefitlifechannel2021 I believe that the main camera has been improved with better algorithms. However, while the telemacro lens is really great, for users who rarely take close-up shots (Oppo also has the Find X3 with a macro camera), Sony should instead improve the telephoto lens so that users can take photos of distant scenes like with the current Samsung Galaxy devices.
@@hoanghan10 Yes the telephoto lens has always struggled capturing sharp and detailed photos for distant subjects for the Xperia line. That's why I stick mostly to close subjects in good lighting when using it. In fairness, Sony has frequently advertised it as a portrait/close subject lens and not really for distant subjects. I'm doing a comparison between the Samsung Note 20 Ultra and the Canon G11 now. The 120mm on the Note 20 Ultra is light years ahead of what I've seen from the Xperia line.
Mines overheats in this Texas weather. Like 30 seconds into recording video
You could try keeping video recording brief like myself, 30-120seconds with it in airplane mode. I only use it for B-Roll or demo videos now. I know it can be frustrating to use it like that. Or if you don't mind the extra bulk and weight, attaching a fan or cooler to the back similar to what's available for gaming phones.
@@thefitlifechannel2021............... Mines overheats in this Texas weather. Thank you sooooo much for sharing the information on your video 😁, as I live in Texas as well. I could get one for free on Amazon with all my Discover points. I just thought how cool it would be to know not just everyone has a Sony phone, but I'll stay with Samsung, a brand I've had zero issues with on the few different models that I've owned.
@@SilverBullet22250 You're very welcome! I'm glad this video was able to help you out! The Xperia PRO-I is still an awesome camera phone, and I wish I could tell you to go for it. I'm currently doing a review on it against the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, another "pro" level camera phone. The Xperia PRO-I can hang with it and stays true to being a camera phone unlike the Xiaomi. But in hot and humid weather it can be extremely frustrating dealing with its overheating issues while the Xiaomi 13 Ultra can keep going without a hiccup. The only issue's I've had with Samsung in hot and humid weather was with their displays on smartphones and computer monitors getting multicolored diagonal lines all over them. I strongly agree with you that I haven't had any other issues with them besides that since I started using the Samsung Note 7FE.
@@thefitlifechannel2021 I've been an avid deer hunter all of my life, currently owning three rifles, all of which have a Zeiss scope on them, so no manual labor would be required on how good the camera would be.
@@thefitlifechannel2021 Sony Xperia PRO- $899.99 with 50 percent savings. Amazon as well as Sony's website.
It's a good idea but a 3D printer is better
Yes a 3D printer would create a cleaner and probably more durable setup. But this one is for someone who wants to test various setups first before committing to a final one. I wish Sony would have come out with something similar to Xiaomi s Photography Kit, especially if they promoted the Xperia PRO-I as a pro-grade camera!
love the pro i 😍
I have the Xperia Pro I and it made me want to get a dedicated camera. I still use the Xperia Pro-I because I loved what Sony did recycling the sensor but the biggest downfall is the overheating issue in video mode but with a phone cooler and using the cinema pro app that kind of solves that issue. Phone wise I haven't felt the need to upgrade because I shoot raw and love editing my photos
Nice! I got the Xperia PRO-I because of Sony's ZV1 digital camera. I thought it would be nice to have a similar setup on a device with a larger display and rapid upload of pics to social media. We have some things in common! I have the same issues as you in regard to overheating while recording video and even when taking photos. I also use the PRO-I mostly for raw files and then editing in LRC. I want to keep it for another few years but I'm having issues with the fingerprint scanner and various ports which can make it frustrating to deal with. But definitely one of the best camera oriented phones I've used besides the ones from the former Nokia company.
Hi, thanks for the video. I am now looking for a new phone and i was looking at two models: xperia proi and xperia 10vi. I now have the a21s and i think im ready to upgrade. Would you recommend the proi over 10vi? I would be buying proi used as it is a lot cheaper. I really like to have great cameras, sd card slot and headphone jack port and battery on my phone so i think these would be good choices, do you think so? Any other phones you would recommend? I think that proi would be solid pick and i like the design on it
Good day! You're very welcome! If you don't mind Android 13, not receiving security updates from Sony (but still from Google Play), need a display with 4k (for video editing and digital camera monitor) and will use the PRO-I for mostly photos and video, I would definitely recommend going with it. Especially if you can get it at a good price. But if you need the most current OS and Sony security updates, and need longer battery life, for sure the Xperia 10vi. I still feel the camera's on the PRO-I are superior to the 10vi's, plus you get a 50mm telephoto which surprisingly takes great portraits and close up shots in decent lighting. Both phones aren't great as smartphone focused devices so it really comes down to what I mentioned before. Also, going from the Samsung A21 to the Xperia PRO-I will feel like you won the lottery! Hehe!
@@thefitlifechannel2021 okay, thank you for the response:)
@@Maxiie_TM You're welcome! Let me know later which one you decided to go with!
Thorough video, well done. I love that rhe cheapest shoes in the line seem to last the longest.
Thank you! I greatly appreciate it! I actually had two more Merrell shoes to thrown in this video but would have made it longer. They didn't last very long (around 5-6 months) so I didn't include them. I remember one was a trail shoe and the other for walking/hiking.
Sony is a trash company committing consumer fraud in broad daylight. I will never buy a Sony product again.
Some of their products are great and have an aesthetic to them other companies lack. But they have incompetent and horrible customer and repair service depending on the region you live in. A great product can't cover that up if an issue pops up and it can't be resolved the first time and in a timely manner!
headphone jack and sd card slot 🖤🤍
Yes I agree those are excellent and rare features for a smartphone but this video was about the top 5 most standout features I saw from using the Xperia PRO-I for almost two years. I rarely removed my external SD card and the headphone jack stopped working last year (an issue I also have with my WH-1000XM3's and ZVE-10 digital camera). If you want to check out a video I made on the issues I experienced from it, I'll post the link in the description box.
@@thefitlifechannel2021 why headphone jack stopped working and did you fix that
@@not_amanullah I have a feeling the metal for the headphone jack input expanded from frequent overheating of the phone when using the main camera. It sits pretty close to the camera system. It expanded permanently and now the headphone jack doesn't sit inside firmly and moves around. I used to record with external microphones for my earlier You Tube videos but because of this issue, it didn't record the sound and I lost the footage. That's why you see me using the internal mics now when I record with the PRO-I. But I'm not a 100% sure but it's something I've also observed happened with my Sony headphones and digital camera. Unfortunately, I never fixed it because I ended up getting a digital camera to record my You Tube videos. Because it can get really hot and humid where I record videos, the PRO-I would only last 1-5 minutes and then overheat, shut down many features or exit out of Video PRO app. So it became frustrating to record with. Also, the Sony Service Center near me can be incompetent and I didn't want my phone out for repair for a long time (I submitted a Sony camera lens to them for repair and it took 7 months!!!). That's another reason I never bothered to have it repaired.
Haters hate. Now real xperia users are complaining about the downgraded screen resolution on the 1mk VI.
I've been using smartphones since the Nokia N900 and the most significant thing that has stood out to me throughout, I've never had one that could completely satisfy everything I needed. That's why at one point I had an Xperia 1 and Samsung Note phone. The Sony does better as a camera centric device, the Samsung as a smartphone first. I'm glad the Xperia I VI went with that screen size and resolution, my Xperia PRO-I rarely uses it's "4K" mode except when I have it connected as an external mother to a camera or reviewing 4k content. Plus my big fingers and hands had issues typing frequently on that slim display!
Resolution might've been downgraded, but the benefits of FAR superior battery life, higher brightness, and having LTPO technology for variable refresh rate, IMO, FAR outweighs the lone disadvantage of lower resolution, which isn't even a big deal to me at all, especially with the benefits that we'd get in return. I hope that Sony will keep 4K exclusive to their Pro lineup though. At the very least, it still does not have a stupid screen cutout.
@@thefitlifechannel2021 I am using the pro I too. How do we know if the 4k mode is on?
@@drakegao1 It turns on if you're viewing 4k content such as a video recorded from Video/Cinema PRO in preview mode or in Google Photos. It also turns on if viewing 4k content on RUclips, Netflix, and other apps that support it. Also when using it as an external monitor for a Sony digital camera that support it through the External Monitor app (but not for streaming). I hope this helped!
@@troy5568 Yes, I agree. Keep the 4k option for PRO versions. Sony can still retain the PRO line with better cameras and unique features for serious creators and have the Xperia line tailored for mainstream demands. Make the Xperia more smartphone focused and keep the PRO camera/video centric.
Don't you mind the fact that they are made of leather and the little ventilation they have when lifting weights with them?
Yes in hot and humid weather they can heat up because of the leather upper restricting airflow. But I never had sweaty socks wearing them. There are gaps near the tongue and around the ankle area where heat can escape. I sweat profusely and get hot during workouts so I don't really notice them being a burden on my feet. But it may be to others so best to use these in an AC or cool environment for workouts.
I still love my Sony Pro-I, well as long as I don't use it for video 😕 Just amazes me that you can get natural bokeh from a smartphone without AI or other artificial enhancement tools. Actually this is why I love this phone is that I can take raw photos that are actually raw, not some softend, over saturated unnatural images that people want so they can post strait to SM. You forgot to mention the last of it's kind that still has a lanyard loop 🙂
Yup, can get some amazing background blur especially with the f2.0 aperture! I've even snapped great portraits and closeups with the 50mm in good lighting with excellent background blur. I was going to make another video with honorable mentions since this one was about the top 5 features I saw from the PRO-I. The lanyard loop would have been one of them. If there's enough interest, I can make it!
YES but the video is crap and that is unaceptable. And it is not good enough in photos, especially very bad at zoom. Hope they will release a second one much better than the old one with great video.
@@PeterEk31 Yup, sometimes I question the video quality too. Especially when the PRO-I becomes hot. I found it better for taking pics in good lighting and keeping the ISO below 1000. The DNG files also have some more room for editing compared to the ones I edited from an iPhone 13PRO and Samsung Note 20 Ultra. I've been waiting for version 2 for awhile now but seems like the rumors about it were more for hype and attention than proving to be accurate. Even the recent one about a compact version that came out soon after the announcement of the Xperia I VI was a bit suspicious. And that's what I noticed, most of the PRO-I ii rumors pop up around a new Xperia release but never pan out. But hopefully Sony has been listening for the past few years and see's there's a strong demand for a second version of the PRO-I. But its probably gonna be expensive. Maybe $2000US+, just look at how much the Xperia 1 VI is!!!!
Experience - from launch. 1 - experienced very rarely 2 - never experienced 3 - agreed 4 - agreed 5 - noticed only if the "eye tracking" mode is on So the phone is still satisfying me and hope will be.
Too expensive for what it does, some features works intermittently sadly! Chinese 1inch sensor counterpart phones works better with great macro capabilities, Variable apature, integrated ND filters etc.
You read my mind! I'm thinking of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra as my next phone! I'm really liking the photography kit that's available for it too!
I've had my phone since it came out with vlog kit I happened to get a great student discount something like $700 off. Honestly have not used the phone as much as I hoped I would because the battery drains so fast when its your main phone and also camera you'd have to have a battery bank on you. The cinema pro app is the best feature but doesn't work with the vlogging monitor! As for the using as a connected monitor for a dslr I never used it for that. But I've recorded fantastic concert footage. After having it for years now I still miss the wireless charging and hate when its humid or the phone gets wet it won't charge if it senses moisture in the charge port and you have no alternative to charge it. I fully charged the phone while at a concert and it was pretty much on single digits when leaving the concert after 2-3 hours. Image quality is great and the cinema pro is fantastic but can't use that for vlogigng. I think you'd might as well use it if it wasn't your main phone or get a samsung galaxy ultra. It's great as a portable minimalist camera. All my ports still work.
Thank you for sharing this! I didn't know about the vlog monitor and Cinema Pro.I'm glad I held off on it. Mine has a similar issue to when it's really humid. It's very difficult to charge or transfer files. And the battery drains fast partially because of the Snapdragon processor but also the RX100 sensor and processor. I have the same issue with my ZV1 that uses the same sensor. I feel the PRO-I does best as a compact camera with a large display and can upload pics fast compared to traditional cameras. It still lasts longer compared to my ZV1 and ZVE-10 digital cameras, especially when shooting in hot environments.
@@thefitlifechannel2021 It's a great phone overall but if it was better with power it could be a solid choice if you want to be a minimalist vlogger. I don't think I could recommend now but it's cool to have something for quick pictures that comes close to a mirror less camera. The cinema pro looks fantastic. Battery and over heating in long uses really keeps it from being one to recommend.
@@JorgeHMartinez How do you like vlogging with the monitor? Does it add a lot of weight or you don't notice it? I've been able to get some pics out of it to match my ZV1 which is pretty amazing. The ZV1 takes really detailed and vibrant pics and to have the PRO-I come close sometimes blows my mind. Sometimes I can get the video footage close too. But as you mentioned, the overheating dampens this excellent phone by only allowing short bits of recording and taking pics with noticeable degradation in image quality.
@@thefitlifechannel2021 so the monitor comes with a metal phone mount and the monitor just attached magnetically the mount is all metal but still light. Connecting the monitor to the phone via USB is a bit awkward since the cable they give is short and very thick. It doesn't feel heavy the phone mount and grip are most of the weight so no heavier than if you use a regular point and shoot.
@@JorgeHMartinez Interesting. Thank you for sharing this once again! I've always wanted to get it but didn't know if it was worth its $200 price. Seems like I'm ok with vlogging blind with the main camera since I'm used to it already.
I'm still using 2018 Huawei, I've been replacing the battery 3 times lol, this video finally convinced me to buy Sony
Are you going to go with the Sony Xperia PRO-I? Or perhaps the new Xperia 1 VI?
